Debbie Vinick is a harpist, pianist, arranger, andteacher. Her music has a wide range of style including Celtic, classical andpopular. She plays and arranges music for the lap, folk, and pedal harp, andpiano. Debbie loves arranging music that is suited to each instrument and isboth enjoyable to play and to hear. A graduate of Eastman and Yale Schools ofMusic, Debbie has played with orchestras throughout the U.S. and in Europe. Shehas an active studio of harp and piano students and performs throughout theNortheast U.S.

Everyone enjoys Celtic Folk Songs and Folk Hymns but not all realize that often they can be one and the same. A hymn text has often found its home in a folk song and a secular text sometimes finds a home in a hymn tune. This collection has a little of both. All but one of the tunes in this collection are of Celtic origin. The exception, ?Amazing Grace,? is a folk hymn of unknown origin that has all the markings of a Celtic Tune, including a pentatonic harmonic foundation.

Fifteen elegant, stately melodies from the Renaissance and early Baroque periods adapted from popular dance tunes, keyboard works and lute songs of the 16th and early 17th centuries. Freely harmonized, they capture the flavor of the period. The "primo" harp part can stand alone as a solo arrangement, while the "secondo" harp part is designed to enhance and fill out the first part. Composers are Gervaise, Dowland, Praetorius, Morley, Arbeau, Caroubel, and the ever popular "Anonymous".
