This three movement organ work was commissioned by the village of Webster, New York, in celebration of its 100th anniversary (1905-2005). The musical language of the work alludes to styles of the early 20th century. The three movements are Trolley Trumpet Tune (a traditional trumpet tune, with some train horn interjections); Apple Orchard Ayre (a lyrical and serene contemplation); and Ridge Road Rondeau (a rondo with some ragtime influences). 20 pages Published by: Zimbel Press.

The famous set of dances by Norway's greatest composer were written for piano duet. Grieg later created a piano solo version, but refused to orchestrate the set. After some study of Grieg and his music, Michael Webster has arranged the four dances for Flute, Clarinet, and Piano in a faithful setting, using the piano duet version as a guide. This lively Grieg classic will be a welcome new addition to performance programs. For advanced performers.______________ _________________________ Text from the scanned back cover:Born in 1944, MICHAEL WEBSTER made his New York recital debut at Town Hall in 1968 with his eminent father, Beveridge Webster, as pianist. SONATA CHO-CHO-SAN(Based on themes from Puccini’s Madama Butterfly)In the spirit of the great 19th-century opera fantasies for woodwinds, Michael Webster has created a concert trio on the many great arias from Puccini's Madama Butterfly. However, as its name implies, Sonata Cho-Cho-San is not the typical virtuosic operatic potpourri. Rather, it follows the plot, resembling a sonata mirroring Puccini's use of recurring and developing themes. Webster makes the most of the winds as versatile performers - equally suited to deliver Puccini's beautiful vocal writing, and to ornament and embroider the poignant themes in symphonic style. For advanced performers.______________ _________________________ Text from the scanned back cover:Born in 1944, Michael Webster made his New York recital debutat Town Hall in 1968 with his eminent father, Beveridge Webster, as pianist. The rich trio literature for Flute, Clarinet, and Piano created by Michael Webster comprises many faithful transcriptions as well as Webster’s original reworkings of opera highlights. Fitting between these opposite approaches, HUNGARIAN MARCH AND RONDO is a newly-formed concert work using two movements from Schubert’s Divertissement à la Hongroise, D. 818, originally for Piano, Four Hands. The opening Hungarian March has all the stately bounce and elegance of a Schubert March Militaire, and the Rondo is a charmed inspiration from the Schubert who created many hundreds of the world’s most beautiful lieder and ornamental instrumental chamber works.

The five three part (SSB) and nine four part (SSTB) dances in this edition represent the complete surviving consort music of Maurice Webster. Webster, a skilled composer with a distinctive style, appears to have been the main catalyst for introducing the 'string quartet' scoring in dance music to England in the 1620s. The development of this idiom had a significant impact on the music of his contemporaries such as Simon Ives, Charles Coleman and William Lawes, who fully embraced it by the 1630s.

Aaron Humble's arrangement of this beloved old favorite from American hymnody is appropriate for both school and church. With soaring obligato lines and shimmering harmony, when sung with a warm and gentle tone,?The Sweet By and By??is certain to paint a picture of a better time for us all to look forward. Also available for TTBB Voices (CM9571).I have great memories of my family gathering around the piano to sing hymns. As my sisters and I learned more about music through lessons, band, and choir, we started adding harmony and really making music. The old American hymnody really holds a special place in my heart. Webster set Bennett's text in a time when American theology had taken a turn away from earlier ideas where God was a god of vengeance and anger. In this new era of optimism, God became more familiar, more loving, and more reassuring. With this in mind, this arrangement should be sung with a warm and gentle tone allowing the dissonances to shimmer, the sweetness of the harmonies to bloom, and the obbligato lines to soar.

This cantata for the First Sunday after Trinity, first performed in 1726, is one of the most musically attractive compositions composed by Bach during his time as cantor at St. Thomas Church, Leipzig. In its alternating scoring for oboes, recorders and strings, the opulently-structured opening chorus describes the gesture of the breaking of bread. The arias and recitatives for the two soloists, alto and tenor show Bach at the peak of his compositional powers. The two-part cantata concludes with a simple chorus.- Urtext edition based on theNew Bach Edition- Richly coloured scoring using recorders and oboes- Vocal score (Ger/Eng), foreword (Ger/Eng)
