Ce travail offrira aux batteurs l'occasion de développer particulièrement les polyrythmies, l'indépendance, l'ambidextrie et l'aspect mélodique de l'instrument. Cet ouvrage propose une étude détaillée de cinq rythmes traditionnels malinké, dont quatre guinéens (Dunungbé, Balakulandjan, Soli, Bundiani) et un malien (Djélidon). Après les lignes de base (appel, dununs et accompagnements djembé), de nombreuses variations, phrases de chauffe et solos seront présentés. Vous trouverez au-dessus de chaque partition une méthode d'écriture simplifiée largement utilisée en Occident sous diverses formes pour la notation des percussions africaines. Chacun de ces rythmes sera suivi d'une adaptation sur la batterie. Les lignes de dunun sont d'abord jouées séparément, le tom médium représentant le sangban, le tom alto le kenkeni et la grosse caisse le dunumba, les lignes de cloche correspondantes étant jouées sur la cymbale ride. Ces lignes de dunun sont ensuite progressivement superposées.
