Giuseppe Verdi's Quattro Pezzi Sacri for SATB and Piano.The single works forming the sacred music cycle 'Quattro pezzi sacri' were composed as independent pieces between 1889 and 1897. The scoring ranges from solo voices a cappella to double choir with large orchestra. In 1898 the year of their first joint performance Verdi had them published together as 'Quattro pezzi sacri'. With the composition of the 'Quattro pezzi sacri' in the last years of his life Verdi thus returned to his church musician origins. Already at the age of 10 Verdi performed the duties of organist in his home congregation and later in Busseto where he received his first music lessons. Themasses at the collegiate church in Busseto formed some of his most important musical impressions. During the time Verdi composed 'Falstaff' his last opera he was once again composing sacred music this time in a conscious encounter with historical models such as Palestrina and Bach.

The first of the Two Pieces For Flute And Harp Or Piano Accompaniment “1. The Swans” is a lovely short piece composed by Henri Busser. Really melodious this piece is perfect to work on the flexibility of the tone and a good training to be able execute pieces more difficult. Written mainly in A key not often used by flautists and starting Andantino moderato the piece symbolizes the swans riding on a lake. It features an intro a main theme in [A] which comes back A tempo in [C] and a final Piú moderato finishing with a really high trill. Some difficulties such as the A key and the range usedon this piece will require an intermediate technique: difficulty is rated at 5°. This first piece is followed by the second one: “The squirrels”. Henri Busser (1872-1913) is a French classical composer and Organist. He was a professor at the Paris Conservatoire and a member of the Académie française. He wrote a ballet numerous operas and chamber music.

Part of the series “Les Soirées Intimes” for Violin or Cello with Piano accompaniment Pavane Op. 50 is a piece written by Gabriel Fauré. It was transcribed by Henri Busser and requires an upper-intermediate / advanced technique to be played perfectly. Really lyrical this work starts with an Introduction on an “Andante molto moderato” tempo. It is followed by alternating of pizzicato sections and bow sections. The piece also finishes on some notes in pizzicato. This fantastic work is perfect as part of a concert and will amaze the audience. Gabriel Fauré was aFrench Composer Organist Pianist and teacher. He is one of the most important composers of his generation with pieces such as 'Pavane' or 'Requiem'.
