This fourth booklet is dedicated to ensemble playing through five trios and three quartets of various styles (tango, ballad, rock, etc.) appropriate for the end of primary school with a few years of experience and the beginning of secondary school. Some pieces are written in a homorhythmic manner and can constitute an introduction to ensemble music, while others are rather polyrhythmic. They can constitute a first contact with the following techniques and effects: staccato, pizzicato, accent, louré, natural harmonic, percussion or crossed strings. This volume is therefore intended for guitarists who already know the notes in first position. Two pieces include a more advanced part with an introduction to playing in 5th position. These are short pieces that do not present technical challenges other than those allowing you to achieve the effects and play expressively. You will find in the scores indications of nuances, timbre, attack and fingerings which constitute suggestions for work and not prescriptions. Teachers and students are therefore invited to make interpretation choices different from those proposed or to try to convincingly render those already written. The pieces were composed or arranged by UQAM music education students as part of a course aimed at equipping musicians for teaching guitar in the school system. Many of them are musicians from different backgrounds (composition, performance, world music, etc.), which explains the creativity found in the pieces. All the pieces have been the subject of an audio recording available on the Productions dâÂÂOz website and on YouTube. Search for àvos guitares, prêt, joue! Vol. 4.Isabelle Héroux, editor, professor, Department of Music, UQAM.Louis-Edouard Thouin-Poppe, assistant editor, arranger and engraver. Etudes Electric was composed in response to a need for original electric guitar literature. Selections from this volume may be performed in an applied music jury or recital in a university guitar program. The etudes are motivically intertwined and make a complete composition when performed in order. The pieces can however be performed singly or in any combination. The pieces appear twice in this edition-once unedited in standard notation alone, and then fully edited in standard notation with rhythmic tablature.

Giovanni Podera: Fantasia (In memoriam JoaquÃn Rodrigo)Marco Reghezza: Nana EstrelladaMarco Simoni: Junto a RodrigoMarco Smaili: Fronda de la tarde (Homenaje a JoaquÃn Rodrigo)Paolo Ugoletti: Fuga a 4 vociFollowing the successful publication of Homenaje a Rodrigo (2015), containing four pieces by Alessandro Spazzoli – one of which was performed in the presence of the composer’s daughter, Cecilia Rodrigo, during her visit to the International Convention in Alessandria –, here is the second volume. It contains more tributes to Rodrigo written on my input by five well-known Italian and Spanish composers, two of whom are also guitarists and have therefore written the fingering for their own pieces.Giovanni Podera plunges us into a typically Rodrigo-like atmosphere with his evocative Fantasia, while the following three compositions are full of direct quotations from pieces also for guitar by the great composer from Valencia. Thus, Marco Simoni, in his expressive Junto a Rodrigo – which also provides the title to the volume – plays with themes taken from Junto al Generalife and from Dos piezas caballerescas for a cello ensemble as well as hinting at reminiscences of Tiento antiguo. As for Marco Smaili, in his impressionistic Fronda de la tarde, he evokes quite evidently Zarabanda lejana and Invocación y Danza, but there are more hidden references to Caminos de Santiago and even to the very famous Concierto de Aranjuez. Marco Reghezza builds his heart-breaking Nana estrellada on a sequence of chords used by Rodrigo in the fantasia ¡Que buen caminito!. On the other hand, there are no direct quotations and echoes of Rodrigo’s way of writing in the Fuga a quattro voci by Paolo Ugoletti. However it was Rodrigo himself who constructed four-part imitative passages for guitar in Pasacalle and in the Ricercare of the Fantasia para un Gentilhombre. The close polyphony of the piece by Ugoletti may be considered as a tribute to this kind of craft shown by Rodrigo who, like Ugoletti, was able to write such dense and idiomatic counterpoint without being a guitar-player.I am pleased that this volume comes out in the imminence of the 20th anniversary of the disappearance of the illustrious Spanish composer who gave so much to the musicians – and not only to them.(Piero Bonaguri)Muchas gracias por este emotivo y excelente musical homenaje a mi padre. ** This is the spiral-bound guitar edition.  The third volume in this popular series, Revival III features arrangements of fourteen familiar Christmas carols for contemporary ensembles. Christmas carols, like many traditional hymns, are often arranged for four-part choir and organ. With this collection, Tony Alonso focuses instead on the needs of the piano- or guitar-based ensemble, creating accessible carol arrangements for SAB voices, piano, and guitar. Also included is an optional alternate harmonization for the final stanza of each piece featuring a soprano descant. Although these arrangements can be utilized as choral anthems, they are truly intended to lead and inspire congregational song. They are compatible with the texts found in GIA’s hymnals and yet can be edited easily to agree with the version of the carol most familiar to the assembly. “French guitarist, François Tomasi compiles a study method of the modern Guitar, filling a large gap. The first volume of For a Modern Guitar addresses fingering, chords and hand positions, understanding the 6 strings, ensemble music, the thumb, polyphony, arpeggios and chromaticims, amongst other aspects. Moreover, a detailed illustration of the Guitar is included, with all the parts of the instrument clearly labelled. For all aspiring guitarists, Tomasi's For a Modern Guitar cannot be missed.&rdquo.
