The great Italian Fantasy is a piece composed by Eugene Bozza for Oboe and Piano. Quite difficult, it requires some advanced skills to be executed perfectly. Starting Moderato, it opens with a cadenza which includes some solo Oboe sections and continues with a short and lyrical melody. It closes on a nice rhythmic section in Allegro. Really nice to play and to listen to, Italian Fantasy would make for a fantastic demonstration of your skills and technical abilities during a recital and a concert. Eugene Bozza won different prizes at the Conservatoire de Paris, such as the First Prizes for the Violin, conducting and composition, as well as the Grand Prix de Rome. He composed several operas, chamber works and ballets among others..

Composed by Sigismond Stojowski, Fantasy, Op.38 is a piece for Bass Trombone and Piano. This lyrical piece, published in 1912, is very melodic and would require advanced skills and technique to perform it perfectly. This piece is one of the first he wrote after moving to the USA. Comparable to Chopin's 'Fantasy', even though Stojowski's seems better-written and more virtuous. A transcription exists for Viola and other instruments. Sigismond Stojowski is a Polish pianist, composer and conductor who studied at the Paris Conservatoire. He was a good friend of Tchaikovsky and worked as a Piano soloist in the USA with the Boston and the San Francisco Symphony, as well as the New York Philharmonic, among others.

Exploiting the Flute to its full potential, Italian Fantasy is an exciting and challenging addition to the advanced flautist's repertoire. From cadenza passages to a delightful 6/8 melody, this piece by French composer Eugene Bozza (1905-1991) covers a huge variety of the Flute's possibilities. The piece begins with an emotional, characterised cadenza, covering a wide range. This leads dramatically into a 6/8 section accompanied by broken chords in the piano before ending with a quirky and lively 2/4 secton. Bozza's Italian Fantasy for Flute and Piano is not only symbolic, but also includes exciting challenges, making for an imperative performance piece in the Flute repertoire. .

Written by Marcel Grandjany on a tune of Haydn, Fantasy is a piece for Harp that includes 5 variations of the main theme. Ideally to be played on pedal Harp, it would fit the skills and abilities of advanced Harp players. The technical difficulties encountered are various as this piece involves some hand-crossings, arpeggios, natural harmonies, accidental alterations as well as some pedal changes. Marcel Grandjany is a French-born American who lived in the 20th century. He studied with Alphonse Hasselmans at the Paris Conservatoire from the age of 11 and got the First Prize at 13 years old. He composed numerous pieces for Harp, of all levels: '3 Very Easy Little Pieces, Op. 7', 'Divertissement, Op. 29', 'Variation on the Londonderry Air, Op. 20' and 'Two Duets for 2 harps, Op. 26' among many others..

Drawing inspiration from books and films of fantasy adventure, Johnnie's three-movement suite explores a variety of descriptive moods and styles. The first movement (Wizards) has a noble and grand flavor, while the second (Elves) is more playful and mischievous in design. The concluding movement (Talking Animals) uses rhythmic energy and mixed meters in creating a bit of a rambunctious setting. Themes from the earlier movements are then brought back for the grand finale. Dur: 8:00.

Fantasy On A Theme Of Liszt was written in 1967 for a Cheltenham Festival concert. The theme which lies behind the work is the opening tune of Liszt's Faust Symphony, though this is never heard in its original form but is rather used as a thematic reservoir from which the music is derived. It is dedicated to the American composer and conductor Bernard Herrmann.

The Shakers were a sect who, in the 18th Century, sailed out from England to America. Right into the late 19th Century, the numerous songs of this community were handed down orally, until they were written down in various volumes of song collections.Philip Sparkes fantasy for wind band is based on a selection of these beautiful, captivatingly simple songs. A truly masterful fantasy on an English folk song, this piece shows the exceptional musical development found in many of the greatest classical symphonies. The fantasy is roughly in the style of the classical rondo (ABACA) and features fine counterpoint and engaging melodies. This piece can be played in an orchestral and quartet setting and is both challenging and fun to play.My Fantasy on The Wee Cooper of Fife was one of four such fantasies I wrote for my daughter April when she was studying the violin, and I had hopes that when she reached the age of wisdom and proficiency she would play them with her friends. Life being what is it, she eventually gave up the violin and chose a completely different career for herself-though we are still the best of friends! I found the song in a collection of folk songs for children where it is called Rissoldy Rossoldy. Except for a few notes, the song was almost identical to the English folksong The Wee Cooper of Fife, which begins: There was a Wee Cooper named Fife / nickity nackety roo noo roo / He took him to wed a gentle wife / nickity nackety roo noo roo / She would na card she would na spin / for fear 't would harm her gentle skin.... The tune is rollicking and words are amusing, and yes, eventually they worked out their problems! The Fantasy is roughly in the style of the classical rondo, which is ABACA coda, such as one finds in the last movements of some of Haydn's later symphonies. This composition may be performed by a string orchestra or solo string quartet. - Douglas Townsend.MyA Fantasy on The Wee Cooper of FifeA was one of four such fantasies I wrote for my daughter April when she was studying the violin, and I had hopes that when she reached the age of wisdom and proficiency she would play them with her friends. The theme that opens my Fantasy-Variations permeates the harmonic and melodic life of the 24 short episodes and coda that follow. However, in a few sections the relationships with the theme are more hidden than explicit; the fanciful connections between these portions and the opening theme suggested the work's hybrid title. Yet even in these more wide-ranging variations the opening theme is usually still hovering nearby, often as a quiet presence contrasting with more animated gestures. The piece may be understood as a kind of dream journal: a chain of brief entries that seem to vary greatly, yet rotate about a fixed constellation of types and obsessions, speaking a language of images at once logical and impossible, familiar and mysterious. I wrote the Fantasy-Variations for the Leonardo trio in 1991 with the support of a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship in composition. The theme that opens my Fantasy-Variations permeates the harmonic and melodic life of the 24 short episodes and coda that follow. However, in a few sections the relationships with the theme are more hidden than explicit; the fanciful connections between these portions and the opening theme suggested the work’s hybrid title. Yet even in these more wide-ranging variations the opening theme is usually still hovering nearby, often as a quiet presence contrasting with more animated gestures. The piece may be understood as a kind of dream journal: a chain of brief entries that seem to vary greatly, yet rotate about a fixed constellation of types and obsessions, speaking a language of images at once logical and impossible, familiar and mysterious.I wrote the Fantasy-Variations for the Leonardo trio in 1991 with the support of a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship in composition.

The Austrian composer Franz Schubert wrote his famous song The Trout (D550) in 1817. This song reappeared as the basis of a set of variations for the fourth movement of the renowned Trout Quintet, so-named as a reference to the title of the song. Robert van Beringen used the lively theme for The Trout Fantasy, which he has written for a five-part clarinet ensemble.
