Zoltán Kodály s unaccompanied mixed choruses first appeared in print in 1943 as a collected volume published by the association Magyar Kórus. This collection contained twenty-five works. In 1951, the volume was released again in the author s edition, being expanded with eight new compositions, but without Els áldozás (First Communion). Reprint editions of this collection had been distributed by Editio Musica Budapest until 1972, when a commemorative extended edition of the mixed choruses was issued, edited by Lajos Bárdos. Until now, reprints of this collection with forty-five compositions have been circulated. Péter Erdei carefully compared the printed edition with themanuscripts of the works preserved at the Kodály Archives. As a result of his work, in 2011 we emended a number of misprints, including those that had been inherited since the earliest print. Seventy-five years after the first release, the time has come for Kodály s collected choral works for mixed voices to appear in a completely new, expanded edition. Our collection contains six compositions that were not included in earlier editions: Jövel, Szentlélek eristen (Come, Holy Spirit), Miatyánk (The Lord s Prayer), Miserere, Salló Pista, Semmit ne bánkódjál (Do Not Grieve), ejesztend t köszönt (A Christmas Carol). In addition, two versions - both equally authentic - are published of the work known under the title of Naphimnusz (Canticle of the Sun), due to earlier editions the new release comes with lyrics in Hebrew and English (Adoration), as well as Dénes Szed s Hungarian translation (Napének [Hymn of the Sun]). This is the most complete and most authentic edition of Kodály s mixed choruses to date it is printed in a slightly larger format than previous editions, and it contains new easily-legible music scores and an informative epilogue. Diese Ausgabe entstand unter der Mitwirkung von Lajos Bárdos.

The unique innovation in this publication is that, printed below the lines of the score, students can find a tablature containing all the necessary details of playing technique, which will help them overcome their initial difficulties. The author places particular emphasis on enabling them to gain a sure sense of rhythm and confidence in finding their way about the instrument. The volume offers a varied selection from the melodic treasures of the folk music of 32 countries. The twelve guitar duets that are included also provide an introduction to the world of chamber music. The textual instructions are given in three languages: German, English and Hungarian.

In a note for the planned first edition of his Hungarian Peasant Songs in 1914, Bartók wrote that âthe melodies published here are folksongs in the truest sense of the word; more precisely, peasant songs.â Bartók initially withdrew this work from publication, however, and added new pieces to it using folk music he had collected in the meantime. The first edition was only finally published in 1920. The Bartók scholar László Somfai explains the work's complicated genesis in his preface. The comments at the close of this edition include important indications regarding performance practice derived from the two recordings that the composer made of several of its pieces in 1927 and 1936. The musical text here follows that of the corresponding volume of the Bartók Complete Edition that is currently in preparation. This is yet another highly popular Bartók work from G. Henle Publishers!

This volume contains transcriptions of folksongs extracted from Bartók's world-renowned pedagogical piano series, For Children. In 2015 we launched this series to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the composer's death. This involved reissuing previous publications, and publishing some additional new transcriptions that fulfill the strict aesthetic demands of the earlier ones. We trust that these publications will allow us to introduce still more music students to the world of one of the great geniuses of 20th-century music.

With the publication of the first collective, scholarly edition of the a cappella works of Sándor Veress (1907-1992), the publishers were paying a long-standing debt in the Veress centenary year. Volume I contains all the already published works for children s, female and male choirs, together with those of the works of his mature period preserved in manuscript which have attained their definitive form: seven choral cycles or suites, and five single-movement works. The musical concept of the mainly 3- or 4-movement Hungarian folksong suites and cantatas is closely akin to that of the composer s instrumental folksong series written at the same time. Also included in thevolume are a musical setting of Sándor Pet fi s poem Orbán and arrangements of two Swiss folksongs and a children s song of American origin (Mary had a little lamb).

The Flute ABC is the work of flautist and flute teacher Vilmos Bántai, who died not long ago. Earlier it was circulated in manuscript, but now the widow of the artist, Éva Sipos, herself a music teacher of international renown, has completed it for publication. Folksongs of different nationalities and children's songs help greatly with learning the new notes. The musical material of the volume is compiled so that it links directly with the next stage, the first volume of the time-tested Flute Method by Zoltán Jeney (Z. 5457).

Violin ABC is the perfect volume for pupils to familiarize themselves with the instrument, basic musical elements, and the sensation of moving naturally while playing. Its editors comprise renowned Hungarian experts in the field of violin pedagogy, and their aim was to create a publication that allows children to have a joyous first encounter with the violin. Violin ABC helps students learn to have calm, relaxed posture and movements through playful illustrations. That way, those who want to play the violin can get a worthwhile introduction to the basics of the violin repertoire through various folk songs and beautiful music examples. The legendary violinist, Yehudi Menuhin (1916 - 1999), had this to say about the publication: ''I am delighted to see a work on the teaching of the violin stress the importance of the preparation of our body and limbs, of our minds and our soul, independently of the instrument itself. I have always said that, ideally, I would like the preparation to be so complete and thorough and enjoyable, that when a child first picks up a violin and a bow, it will draw a clean sound.')' - Yehudi Menuhin (1916 - 1999).
