When Weber offered the sonatas for violin and piano to the publisher Andre von Offenbach in 1810, the latter refused to print them because they were 'too good and demanding'. In order to reach as large a target group of music-making amateurs as possible, editors at that time increasingly selected only easily playable works. Fortunately, these sonatas nevertheless found their way into the repertoire. This is a practical edition in two volumes based on the text of the Weber Complete Edition.

Written by Francois Joseph Naderman (1781-1835), Sonatinas Progressive, Op. 92 consists of a series of seven small sonatas. The level of difficulty alternates between intermediate and advanced as these can be played at different speeds but necessitates some strong technique as well as some pedal changes. These Sonatinas Progressive, Op. 92 are still considered as some of the most famous pieces of the harp repertoire today. Francois Joseph Naderman was a classical harpist, composer and teacher at the Paris Conservatoire. His vocation was developed by growing up as the son of a Luthier harp maker. He also wrote Sonatas for harp, harp and cello, studies and other pieces.

“French oboist, Henri Brod (1799-1839) was a performer, composer and instrument builder during the early Romantic era. Considered a virtuoso, Brod's compilation, Studies and Sonatas for Oboe is very well-informed. Brod introduced his own innovations in Oboe design and playing techniques, both which are still used to this day. The first volume of Studies and Sonatas for Oboe comprises 40 easy studies and 6 progressive sonatas for beginner to intermediate level oboists. These are in a variety of keys and address features, including different rhythms, scales, breath control, phrasing, articulation, ornamentation, accidentals, simple and compound time signatures, range, performance directions, and dynamics, among other aspects. Brod's wealth of experience and expertise which enabled the composition of Studies and Sonatas for Oboe make it an essential purchase for aspiring players of the instrument.â€.
