The Suite For Small Orchestra No.1 was composed between 1917 and 1925. This miniature work, comprising an introduction and three national dances, is notable for its prominent rhythms and rich orchestral colouring. <br>Suite No.2 is extremely witty and rhythmically varied. Poèmes est un cycle qui se compose actuellement de douze pièces pour piano. Les pièces ont été composées pour être également adapté pour la performance par les enfants, bien que les demandes pour chaque pièce varient considérablement. Toutes les pièces sont extrêmement courte et concentrée. Mon objectif était de procéder à une exploration personnelle de cette 'forme miniature'. Chaque titre est associé à (auto) biographiques connotations de l'auto (tonale), en particulier comme point de départ pour certains de ces mouvements se penche loin dans mon passé. Certaines des pièces sont très faciles, par exemple (Le jour) quand j'ai perdu mon chien drôle vert ou Babu Chiris maison. Ces situent dans une opposition à d'autres exigences techniques spécifiques avec des grappes (par exemple dans une interface utilisateur multilingue, piano légèrement préparé en eins, zwei, drei, vier, les Neun et le passage des mains dans Frida schläft ein). En Heimbach / Allemagne, le cycle de recevoir sa première représentation dans les mains de jeunes pianistes. Par la suite, le travail recevront une répétition au sein du Festival, Lars Vogt, que ce soit joué par lui ou moi-même. As a composer, Baeyens developed chiefly through the study of composers such as Debussy, Wagner and Strauss - this interest gave him the reputation of a revolutionary within the confines of the very traditionalist conservatory. However, this was not where Baeyens' exploration of musical language was to end. The 1956 Piranesi Suite for flute and cello, written three decades after Baeyens' graduation from the Flemish Conservatory, marks an intriguing phase of his composition. Baeyens tended towards older forms - the Suite, for example, is afive-movement work, though each movement is drawn through a more modern glass - it's hardly usual to hear a Sinfonia, Toccata, Moto Perpetuo, Aria, and Corrente together. The resemblance towards older forms breaks down as the music is further examined - the Sinfonia is full of transposed, repetitive melodies that play off each other with sly rhythmic twists (much in the manner of Stravinsky), the Toccata is a powerful solo cello showpiece, and the Aria is a delicate flute melody winding above bitonal cello pizzicato. The final Corrente, belying its name, brings the piece to a close with an accelerating back-and-forth of melody and accompaniment. Phila. ” sic (The quaint original spellings and capitalizations are preserved here for historical interest. ) A fife-and-drum style arrangement of the BRANDYWINE QUICKSTEP completes this early American triptych. The stately and moderate tempos that fit the music of this era so well also ensure that the arrangements remain accessible to young bands.
