Zoltán Kodály s unaccompanied mixed choruses first appeared in print in 1943 as a collected volume published by the association Magyar Kórus. This collection contained twenty-five works. In 1951, the volume was released again in the author s edition, being expanded with eight new compositions, but without Els áldozás (First Communion). Reprint editions of this collection had been distributed by Editio Musica Budapest until 1972, when a commemorative extended edition of the mixed choruses was issued, edited by Lajos Bárdos. Until now, reprints of this collection with forty-five compositions have been circulated. Péter Erdei carefully compared the printed edition with themanuscripts of the works preserved at the Kodály Archives. As a result of his work, in 2011 we emended a number of misprints, including those that had been inherited since the earliest print. Seventy-five years after the first release, the time has come for Kodály s collected choral works for mixed voices to appear in a completely new, expanded edition. Our collection contains six compositions that were not included in earlier editions: Jövel, Szentlélek eristen (Come, Holy Spirit), Miatyánk (The Lord s Prayer), Miserere, Salló Pista, Semmit ne bánkódjál (Do Not Grieve), ejesztend t köszönt (A Christmas Carol). In addition, two versions - both equally authentic - are published of the work known under the title of Naphimnusz (Canticle of the Sun), due to earlier editions the new release comes with lyrics in Hebrew and English (Adoration), as well as Dénes Szed s Hungarian translation (Napének [Hymn of the Sun]). This is the most complete and most authentic edition of Kodály s mixed choruses to date it is printed in a slightly larger format than previous editions, and it contains new easily-legible music scores and an informative epilogue. Diese Ausgabe entstand unter der Mitwirkung von Lajos Bárdos.

With words by the composer, Otter Island, dedicated to June Keyte and the Children’s Voices of Enfield, explores a descriptive narrative in combination with gently flowing music that has an occasional suggestion of folk style. Written for children’s voices in unison, this innocent, youthful piece reflects an affinity for young people that has grown through the composer’s extensive work in education.

The Power of the KING is the latest Christmas musical from Simply WordKidz, the best-selling easy-learn, easy-sing series for children's choir from Word Music & Church Resources. The story behind The Power of the KING, written and created by Gina Boe and Barb Dorn, revolves around radio station K-I-N-G. A major winter storm is threatening to shut down the entire state. The power grid is failing all around, and highways are closing due to dangerous road conditions. A bus transporting a children's choir on their Christmas tour is stranded by the storm, so the choir takes refuge at the radio station. The timing of the winter storm couldn't be worse, as the station's power goes off just as they are about to broadcast the annual Christmas show. Unable to play any recorded music due to the limitations of the back-up generator, the radio station staff hastily scrambles to put together a live radio broadcast telling the joyous Good News of the Christmas story, with the help of the stranded children's choir! The Power of the KING from the Simply WordKidz Series... the perfect way to bring your church and community together this Christmas, in celebration of the miracle of Christ's birth!Song Titles: K-I-N-G Christmas * The Power of the KING * Christmas Medley-Part 1 (O Come, O Come, Emmanuel); Christmas Medley-Part 2 (O Little Town of Bethlehem and Silent Night) * This Thing that Has Happened * How Great Our Joy! * Reprise (The Power of the KING with K-I-N-G Christmas).

Listen to the Holy Voices would be an excellent Christmas anthem for a small ensemble or youth choir with even a few young unchanged voices with limited range. Verse 1 for solo voice, verse 2, a simple, wellcrafted canon connected by a colorful and contrasting interlude, and verse 3 for SAB joined by a spirited modulation.
