Album II: Violin and Accomp.: Instrumental Album

With Piano Accompaniment-These books are arranged to be performed with various combinations of instruments. This volume presents some of the most beloved repertoire for the Christmas season. Some works are well known others will sound fresh and new tomost players. The pieces may be performed as a solo for each instrument (Violin 1 Violin 2 Viola or Cello) with piano accompaniment or as duets or trios as well as full orchestra. If performed with full orchestra the pianoaccompaniment is not necessary. The string ensemble series meets all standards for ASTA (American String Teachers Association) and Suzuki Association of the Americas Inc. If performed with full orchestra no solo parts should beplayed except the 1st violin part. Note also if you wish to perform these works with full orchestra and you are short certain instruments you still have some flexibility with the score. For example if there are not enoughviolas for balance the viola (harmony part) and 3rd violin part are identical. The part may be played with all 3rd violins or equally divided between 3rd violins and violas.

LKM-Commissioned by the Museum of Mathematics in New York for its grand opening gala benefit the music is based on a Native American story. The violin portrays Coyote and the piano represents everything else especially the stars themselves. It is recommended that the story which is included with the music be told to the audience before the work is performed to enhance the enjoyment and comprehension of the piece.

Violin and Piano. First performed in 1979 at the Library of Congress in Washington D.C. by Jazz Violinist Sergiu Luca and the composer at piano. The Sonata is in four movements: Summer Dreams Brutal-fast Adagio and In Memory of Joe Venuti. Duration ca. 16 minutes.

Having left mainstream teaching he has become established as a well-known and successful composer of music for theearly grades his music being published by the Associated Board and OUP. Many of his pieces are set for Associated Board exams. Apart from running the 'Olney Music School' he is also a well known jazz pianist and classicalaccompanist.

Flute and Piano-A respected pianist violinist and composer the career of Sweden's Amanda Maier (1853-1894) was tragically cut short from tuberculosis. Her musical activities brought her into contact with the likes of Brahms Grieg and Reinecke and her own style exudes the Romantic spirit of her time. Her Sonata for Violin and Piano in b minor (1878) is a brilliant and substantial work which is finally gaining the recognition it deserves. This new edition makes the work available to flutists for the first time with very few alterations to the original violin part. We hope that this edition will make this unjustly neglected sonata accessible to students performers and music lovers.
