The OperAria repertoire anthology was much applauded when it came on stage with three baritone volumes in 2015. The successful baritone debut was followed in 2017/18 by the appearance of the four soprano volumes, also conquering hearts in no time. Par BEETHOVEN LUDWIG VAN. The works for solo voice(s) and Orchestra assembled in this volume owe their composition to the most diverse occasions. Some were tailor-made for female singers in Beethoven ’s milieu, while with others he was dabbling in the field of Italian opera (under the tutelage of none other than Antonio Salieri). Scarcely any of them made it into print during Beethoven ’s lifetime. Aside from canonical works of the repertoire such as “Ah! perfido” op. 65, this volume also contains unknown gems like the scene and aria Beethoven revised multiple times, “No, non turbarti” – “Ma tu tremi, o mio tesoro?”. The study score contains the textof the scholarly Complete Edition. This landmark series collects compelling, useful, singer-friendly arias from a distinctly American opera tradition. Each volume includes information about every opera and an aria plot note. A majority of the music in the four volumes has never before been available outside of the opera vocal scores, and some arias in the series have never been in print at all before now. Most arias are appropriate for college-level singers. Composers such as Samuel Barber, William Bolcom, Douglas Moore, Virgil Thomson and Gian Carlo Menotti are well represented. Additionally, arias are included from important works such as Regina, A Streetcar Named Desire, The Ghosts of Versailles, The Great Gatsby, Little Women and many others. Stephen Sondheim graciously agreed to adapt new aria editions of two pieces from Sweeney Todd for the series: ?The Contest? in the Tenor volume and ?Epiphany? in the Baritone/Bass edition./ Recueil / Soprano et Piano
