This concert work, the latest of Jacob de Haan works based on American states, is a suite in three movements, based on a well-known folk tune from Arkansas. In the course of this varied work the folk song appears in its complete form and in fragments, in major and in minor, as a ballad in a lyrical orchestration, as a blues, accompanied by a jazzy rhythm and at the end again in its pure form. In the process, all instrumental groups of the brass band get their chance to shine!De Amerikaanse staat Arkansas wordt wel ??The Natural State?? of ??The Land of Opportunity?? genoemd.

The American state of Arkansas is often called 'the natural state' and 'the land of opportunity.' This piece belongs to Jacob de Haan's series of musical montages depicting various states in the USA, including Dakota, Oregon and Virginia. Arkansas is a suite in three movements based on a well-known native American folk song. It appears as a ballade, variations and finally accompanies a jazzy rhythm. The folk song helps provide continuity throughout the three movements. A perfect addition to any concert.Arkansas kent meerdere bijnamen. Der amerikanische Bundesstaat Arkansas tragt den Spitznamen The Natural State oder The Land of Opportunity. This late intermediate piano solo is a theme and six variations based on Sanford Faulkner's Arkansas Traveler. The theme begins in the key of A major, and the variations move through different keys, including A minor, D major, and D minor. The variations explore the styles of Mozart, MacDowell, a Viennese waltz, an Impressionistic work featuring chords built in fourths over an ostinato figure, a jazzy swing piece with a walking bass line, and a rhumba.

Did you ever find a baby bumblebee and try to bring it home? No Place Like Home, The Flight Of The Bumblebee and The Arkansas Traveler (the bumblebee song melody) combine to make this Trombone feature unlike any you’ve tried before. It’s a good idea to occasionally give the Trombone section a little time in the limelight, and it’s also a good idea for your band to have some fun. This one works on both levels. Pick one up today! (The arrangement, Not the baby bumblebee!)Het Engelse woord voor hommel is ‘bumblebee’.

Rejoi ce, Dolce, and Dance is written in three different and distinct styles. Rejoice is fanfare-like in quality and should be played in a bold majestic manner; balance is important in this section. Care should be taken to not let the battery percussion overpower the ensemble The forzandos are very important to the character of the fanfare and should be carefully observed. Dolce is slow and more lyrical in manner. This section should be played in a legato style. The director is encouraged to add his own interpretative elements in this section. The Dance is fast and light in character. Keep the tempo moving and pay special attention to the articulations and dynamics.
