Originally composed as joyous postludes for a church service to keep the congregation engaged and in their seats, rather than rushing to coffee hour or Sunday brunch, these pieces will have them sticking around to listen. So many organists complain of practicing long hours on music to find out only heard by a handful of listeners (or none at all!) stayed behind to hear it, but with this music you will be rewarded for your practice (and the great secret is, these pieces don't require much practice at all!).Whether you are looking for a rousing closer in a church service, concert, or music program of any kind -- these will do the trick! Additionally, since they are all based on original tunes (rather than hymns or other familiar sacred music), they can be easily and effectively used in both sacred and secular settings.Contents: March for a Celebration Wildfire Toccata Impressions of Americana Mountains and Valleys Fanfare of Festive Colors Traditions Old and New

Over the past couple of years I have written a number of film music transcriptions on and for the organ of the Royal Albert Hall in London. While the transcriptions are written with this organ in mind, often calling for specific colours such as the bass drum, carillons or tubular bells, they are adaptable on a number of different instruments and I’ve loved tweaking them in order to play them on organs all across the world. I hope you enjoy playing them as much as I’ve enjoyed writing them! I think the Interstellar soundtrack has done more to popularise the organ than anything or anyone else! I’ve chosen three of my favourite cues from the film and put them together into a suite. It can be performed in any order, with the pieces played one after the other or scattered throughout a recital programme.  - Anna Lapwood.

This is one of a suite of organ pieces composed by David W Solomons performed by David Carlston Williams for a CD in June 2015 The suggested order for this suite is: 1. Passacaglia: based on an ostinato passage in 3 time. The idea behind the passacaglia relates to the origin of the word, it is basically a gentle stroll down the street (pasar la calle in Spanish, which was converted into Passacaglia in Italian) 2. Dorina: a descriptive piece in Dorian mode based on a song about a cat, from the aptly named village of Chattevoix, who stalks, but never catches, a little bird. 3. Playtime: also about a cat, the composer's own cat who is playful and rushes around the house but occasionally stopping to pummel the soft furnishings. 4. Early Evening in Camden Town: a more serious and sad piece - in 3-3-2 time. It is an evocation of the poor folk in Camden and their dreams of what could be, if only….. It was originally a song, which the composer wrote when he was living in London, based on a poem by fellow Londoner Sandra Erös The streets are part of a toy town, waiting to be played with…. 5. The Bishop's Dance: a curious and comical piece in 11 time (3, 3, 3, 2). It comes from the legend of Robin Hood, in which Robin meets the bishop of Hereford, who had hoped to get the better of him, but Robin prevails and forces him to dance. The clumsy attempts of the ungainly Bishop to obey Robin's commands cause great merriment among the merry men To quote our vicar, Rev Barbara, after the recital For me music paints a picture, and, for that, I have got this picture of someone going for a stroll in their village and then they came across a very old cat wandering down the street imaging it could catch birds but never catching them. And then it would lie down for a sleep and dream of the days when it was a kitten.... It was a very reflective programme and turns our mind about What for the Autumn, what do we need to do next.. it really did fit in with the mood of the year, as we turn towards building up the programme for next year... So thank you, it gave us time to reflect in a very beautiful manner.... The rest of the suite is also available on this site: separately (with performances by David Carlston Williams) and as a set (with David's performance of Passacaglia).

Anna Lapwood #904071. Published by Anna Lapwood (A0.1315325). When I was a teenager, my dad and brother would often choose the films we’d watch. When they chose Pirates of the Caribbean I was a bit sceptical at first because I thought it might be too scary, but I quickly fell in love with the film and its soundtrack – it became my favourite film series and I ended up listening to the soundtrack almost every day on the walk to and from school. In the films, the character of Davy Jones plays an iconic organ on his ship, the Flying Dutchman – I think it’s one of the most well-known organ references in contemporary cinema, and so it is one of my most requested pieces. I I also love the fact that Hans Zimmer includes a little nod to Bach’s Toccata in D minor, another piece which sits at the top of my request list. In the film, the start and end of this piece is played by a musical locket, perfectly replicated by the Celeste stop on the organ, although if a Celeste stop isn’t available then a soft 8’ flute would do the job!  - Anna Lapwood.

Instrumental Solo,Pipe Organ - Level 4 - SKU: A0.1315319 By John Powell. By John Powell. Arranged by Anna Lapwood. 21st Century,Classical,Contemporary,Film/TV. Individual part. 10 pages. Anna Lapwood #904065. Published by Anna Lapwood (A0.1315319). One of the soundtracks that I get asked to perform most regularly is Test Drive by John Powell. This is one of the earlier transcriptions I wrote, and I often use it as a piece to illustrate the difference between different organs. It’s quite useful to have one piece to use as a comparison point, so I post little videos of this wherever I’m playing to demonstrate how radically different the same piece of music can sound depending on the kind of instrument. For me, this piece feels like an instant serotonin boost. There is a great crescendo where you get to take the organ from relatively quiet to earth-shatteringly loud over the course of about 30 seconds, and I always say that playing that part feels a bit like flying a dragon! - Anna Lapwood
