Flute,Piano - Level 2 - SKU: A0.549354 Composed by Bach-Gounod. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Christmas,Contemporary,Easter,Wedding. Score and part. 11 pages. Jmsgu3 #3490015. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549354). This arrangement follows the original Bach prelude and so excludes the extra measure that Schwencke introduced in 1783. If you prefer the extra measure, please see Bach-Gounod: Ave Maria, Schwencke version for Alto Flute & Piano, S0.661753. The convenient 1st & 2nd endings provide an option for extended performance with minimal page turns for the accompanist. The duration with repeat is about 4:50. Score: 6 pages. Solo part: 1 page, piano part: 4 pages. Based on Prelude #1 in C Major from the Well-Tempered Clavier, Book 1. Well suited for church meditations or school programs or recital encores. Ave Maria Ave Maria is a Catholic prayer that consequently asks for the mother of Jesus (Mary) to intercede. Charles Gounod composed a famous version of the Ave Maria. He was a French Romantic composer who overlaid a new melody on an existing Bach chord progression. The progression is from Bach’s Prelude No. 1 from Well-Tempered Clavier I. This version, as well as Schubert’s version, have become essential items at weddings, masses, and funerals. Bach Overview First of all, Johann Sebastian Bach is maybe the greatest composer in music history. Certainly, he was prolific. As a result, everyone has heard of his works. Furthermore, these works number well over a thousand. It seems like people are probably most familiar with instrumental works such as the Brandenburg Concertos, and the Goldberg Variations. But, similarly famous are such noteworthy works as the Well-Tempered Clavier, the Musical Offering, and the Art of Fugue. Seems like his most famous vocal works include the most noteworthy Mass in B Minor. Also, most noteworthy, though, are the St. John Passion, and certainly the Christmas Oratorio.  History Bach came from a long line of musicians and above all, composers. Consequently, he, first of all, pursued a career as a church organist. So as a result, he gained employment in various Protestant churches in Germany. For a while, he worked as a court musician in Weimar and Köthen. Here he probably developed his organ style and likewise his chamber music style. Eventually, he gained an appointment as Cantor of St. Thomas in Leipzig. Here he worked until difficulties with his employer ultimately drove him away. The King of Poland finally appointed him as court composer.  Style It seems like Bach created an engaging new international style. He synthesized elements of the most noteworthy European music ideas into his new style. Even more, this new style was probably his synthesis of European musical rhythm and form. Furthermore, he demonstrated a complete mastery of counterpoint and motivic development. His sense of harmonic organization probably propelled him to the top. Revival        Mendelssohn conducted a Bach revival in the nineteenth century. His effort probably helped to re-familiarize the public with the magnitude of Bach’s works. During this period, scholars published many noteworthy Bach biographies. Moreover, Wolfgang Schmieder published the BWV (Bach Werke Verzeichnis). As a result, this is now the official catalog of his entire artistic output. The BWV number allows us to locate a work in the catalog. Sometimes scholars will simply use an S (Schmieder) as an abbreviation for BWV. ÂÂ

French Horn,Piano - Level 2 - SKU: A0.549371 Composed by Bach-Gounod. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Christmas,Contemporary,Easter,Wedding. Score and part. 11 pages. Jmsgu3 #3491319. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549371). This arrangement follows the original Bach prelude and so excludes the extra measure that Schwencke introduced in 1783. If you prefer the extra measure, please see Bach-Gounod: Ave Maria, Schwencke version for French Horn & Piano, S0.661839 . Sometimes scholars will simply use an S (Schmieder) as an abbreviation for BWV. ÂÂ

Composed by Antonin Dvorak (1841-1904). Arranged by Rob Bushnell. Romantic Period, Spiritual, TV, Native American. Piano Reduction, Sheet Music Single. 2 pages. Published by RBMusic
This arrangement is not in the original key to make it easier to play. A version in the original key is available here: S0.373007.
The Czech composer Antonín Dvoand#345;ák became the director of theNational Conservatory of Music in New York City in 1892 (a post he helduntil 1895). Whilst in North America, he became fascinated by Native Americanmusic and the African-American spirituals that he heard. After a commission in1893 from the New York Philharmonic, he wrote the Symphony No. 9 in E minor,"From the New World", also known as the ?New World? Symphony ? not onlyhis most famous symphony but one of the most popular symphonies of all time.
The second movement (Largo) features the famous cor anglaissolo, arranged here for solo piano. It was famously used in a British advert for the bread-brandHovis and was adapted into the spiritual-like song ?Goin? Home? by one ofDvoand#345;ák's pupils in 1922.
Dvoand#345;ák explained the Native-American influences in the symphonyin an article published by the New York Herald: ?I have not actually used anyof the [Native American] melodies. I have simply written original themesembodying the peculiarities of the Indian music, and, using these themes assubjects, have developed them with all the resources of modern rhythms, counterpoint, and orchestral colour.?
A recording of the ?New World? Symphony was taken along on theApollo 11 mission by Neil Armstrong in 1969.

Piano Solo - Early Intermediate - Digital Download Composed by Frederic François Chopin. Arranged by Edited by Flavio Regis Cunha. Romantic Period, Repertoire, Funeral, Recital. Score. 4 pages. Published by Flavio Regis Cunha
Item Number: S0.1025127
The Prelude Op. 28, No. 4 by Frédéric Chopin is one of the 24 Chopin preludes. By Chopin's request, this piece was played at his own funeral, along with Mozart's Requiem.
The piece is only a page long (in this edition we put in 2 pages) and uses a descending melody line. The melody starts with the dominant B and works its way to the tonic E, but halfway through the piece the descending line is interrupted and the melody starts over again. Only in the last bars does the melody dissolve in the tonic and go through a chord progression to the soothing and satisfying E minor chord.
