Choral Choir,Choral (SATB divisi) - Level 2 - SKU: A0.1349390 Composed by Samuel Heatwole. A Cappella,Christian,Religious,Sacred. 5 pages. Samuel Heatwole #934128. Published by Samuel Heatwole (A0.1349390). As fear struck in 2020 with COVID-19 spreading throughout the world, people responded in various ways. Many responded in grief as loved ones were lost. Some splintered into political factions; others were worried and confused. In uncertain times, the Christian looks to God and His Word for a timeless perspective on our times. This comforting piece begins with the words of God In Isaiah 43, Fear not...for I am the Lord thy God. and ends with these intimate words from God, I have called thee by name. Thou art mine. This general-use anthem for unaccompanied voices will offer reassurance of the Lord's continual presence.

Guitar,Voice - Level 2 - SKU: A0.1042566 By The Candlelight Guitarist. By Words by Samuel Francis Smith, Music: traditional. Arranged by Bradley Powell. Patriotic,Sacred,Traditional. Guitar Tab with Voice. 2 pages. Geofonica Artistworks #647335. Published by Geofonica Artistworks (A0.1042566). Beloved American patriotic hymn arranged for Guitar solo, in both standard notation an TAB (instrumental finger-style, also suitable for accompanying singers, with lyrics included), arranged by Bradley Powell, who has recorded many albums as The Candlelight Guitarist. Level: beginning to Intermediate classical guitar, written in standard notation. (NOTE: This same arrangement in standard notation only, without TAB, is also available.) Arrangement features a short serene introduction, which serves as a transition motif within arrangement. Harmony is a subtle blend of traditional, folk-jazz and classical. Suitable for patriotic occasions, memorials, celebrations and religious services. ABOUT: Bradley Powell (aka The Candlelight Guitarist) began guitar at age ten, inspired by The Beatles. At 15, he became a protégé of jazz guitarist Joe Pass, and later studied classical guitar under Vincent Macaluso and at California State University, Northridge under Ronald Purcell, with a master class under Andrés Segovia. Brad was featured performing Gerald Wilson's Sonata for Guitar and Orchestra at the Hollywood Bowl, with the composer conducting. Brad was mentored in composition by David Rose (composer for Little House on the Prairie). Brad has composed music for TV, including Hill Street Blues and The 'A' Team, working with Mike Post. Brad has ten albums as The Candlelight Guitarist. Brad is also the classical guitarist for Disney's Princess Breakfast Adventuire at Disneyland's Grand Californian Resort. When not making music, Brad is often out hiking with his dogs.COMMENTS FROM ESTABLISHED REVIEWERS...Dr. Beth - Amazon.com #1 Hall of Fame reviewerBrad has a knack for putting together gentle, soothing guitar medleys which provide the perfect background or relaxation soundtrack.Bill Binkelman - Music Reviewer for Zone Music Reporter and New Age RetailerThe Candlelight Guitarist is your tour guide to a land of easy-going, warm, and inviting instrumentals.Rebecca of Amazon - Amazon.com HALL OF FAME TOP 500 REVIEWERBradley Powell's flawless playing allows you to completely relax into sleep or relax into an evening of candlelight and romance. C Instrument - Level 2 - By Various. By Anonymous, Claudin de Sermisy, Henry VIII, Pierre Phalese, Thoinot Arbeau, John Dowland (1563- 1626), Michael Praetorius (1571-1621), Pierre Attaignant (1494-1553), Pierre Certon (1510-1572), William Cornysh (1470-1523), Juan Del Encina (1468-1530), Claude Gervaise (1540-1560), Giorgio Mainerio (1535-1582), Erasmus Widmann (1572-1634), and Tielman Susato (1500-1561). Arranged by Alastair Lodge. 151, 153, 162, Folk, Renaissance. Lead Sheet / Fake Book. 38 pages. Wold Meridian #727149. Published by Wold Meridian
Chording to the Dance Masters is a selection of dance tunes that were collected originally between about 1500 and 1620. Printing made many of these tunes popular throughout Europe during these times, some of them composed by the printer/publishers themselves, but many more of them existed previously as rustic dance tunes or popular chansons. The works were originally published to be played by three to five instrumentalists, with no particular instruments specified. They suited consorts or ?choirs? of instruments that were depicted in the illustrations of Agricola, Mersenne and most notably Praetorius and are now preserved in museums around the world.
Many editions exist in the 3, 4 or 5 parts as originally published, and these are an absolute joy to perform from, where the interweaving parts create interesting harmonies that demonstrate the skills of these renaissance composer/arranger/publishers. Playing with modern reproductions of the early instruments will recreate textures and sounds unique to this period. However, not everyone is lucky enough to either own these instruments or else have contact with others with whom they could form ensembles. This book aims to widen the experience out to those who would like to play these tunes on their own or with the accompaniment of a guitar, keyboard or other available chordal instrument. Fake books abound for those who wish to play Jazz, Folk, Classical and Popular music where the melody is annotated with chords so that players can access these tunes in their own way. As far as I am aware, this has not often been done for the player who wishes to busk their way through music of the Renaissance period.
I have attempted to include all the chords implied by the polyphonic parts of the original publications, simply because it is in the transitions of the harmonies under the melodies where the genius of the original arranger/publisher resides. Those who go on to explore the original versions may look forward to the way in which each line presents the player with intrinsically beautiful counter melodies.
At first, the rapidity of chord changing can be a bit daunting, so I have marked out what I consider to be the essential chords for accompaniment in boxes. Playing just these will provide adequate accompaniment, whilst leaving the more adventurous scope to enhance their performance by referencing some of the other chords. You can hear the chording arrangements together with the original 3, 4 or 5 part versions of all 44 pieces on a YouTube playlist which has been made as a companion to this volume at
https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYRWH2nycMkMoIoEYEMVPa_EXY6NVDpNS
As well as the solo or player in a duo, this book would also be of value for someone who is used to reading chords rather than melody lines wishing to join in with a renaissance consort. The selection I have chosen represents quite a few of the ?standards? that have become regularly played since the revival of renaissance music in the late 1960s. It is hoped that should this volume prove popular, companion volumes with all the parts provided for the same pieces could make essential repertoire for the budding renaissance dance consorts of the future.

Choral Choir (TTBB) - Level 2 - SKU: A0.1270160 By Arlo Guthrie. By Arlo Guthrie. Arranged by Craig Hanson. A Cappella,Comedy,Folk. Octavo. 6 pages. Edition Craig Hanson #862589. Published by Edition Craig Hanson (A0.1270160). For TTBB chorus a cappella and solo voice. As performed by Arlo Guthrie.Wanna hear something? You know that Indians never ate clams. They didn't have linguini! And so what happened was that clams was allowed to grow unmolested in the coastal waters of America for millions of years. And they got big, and I ain't talking about clams in general, I'm talking about each clam! Individually. I mean each one was a couple of million years old or older. So imagine they could have got bigger than this whole room. And when they get that big, God gives them little feet so that they could walk around easier. And when they get feet, they get dangerous. I'm talking about real dangerous. I ain't talking about sitting under the water waiting for you. I'm talking about coming after you.Imagine being on one of them boats coming over to discover America, like Columbus or something, standing there at night on watch, everyone else is either drunk or asleep. And you're watching for America and the boat's going up and down. And you don't like it anyhow but you gotta stand there and watch, for what? Only he knows, and he ain't watching. You hear the waves lapping against the side of the ship. The moon is going behind the clouds. You hear the pitter patter of little footprints on deck. ‘Is that you kids?’ It ain't! My god! It's this humongous, giant clam!Imagine those little feet coming on deck. A clam twice the size of the ship. Feet first. You're standing there shivering with fear, you grab one of these. This is a belaying pin. They used to have these stuck in the holes all around the ship… You probably didn't know what this is for; you probably had an idea, but you were wrong. They used to have these stuck in the holes all along the sides of the ship, everywhere. You wouldn't know what this is for unless you was that guy that night.I mean, you'd grab this out of the hole, run on over there, bam bam on them little feet! Back into the ocean would go a hurt, but not defeated, humongous, giant clam. Ready to strike again when opportunity was better. You know not even the coastal villages was safe from them big clams. You know them big clams had an inland range of about 15 miles. Think of that. I mean our early pioneers and the settlers built little houses all up and down the coast you know. A little inland and stuff like that and they didn't have houses like we got now, with bathrooms and stuff. They built little privies out back. And late at night, maybe a kid would have to go, and he'd go stomping out there in the moonlight. And all they'd hear for miles around...(loud clap/belch).... One less kid for America. One more smiling, smurking, humongous, giant clam.So Americans built forts. Them forts --you know—them pictures of them forts with the wooden points all around. You probably thought them points was for Indians but that's stupid! 'Cause Indians know about doors. But clams didn't. Even if a clam knew about a door, so what? A clam couldn't fit in a door. I mean, he'd come stomping up to a fort at night, put them feet on them points, jump back crying, tears coming out of them everywhere. But Americans couldn't live in forts forever. You couldn't just build one big fort around America. How would you go to the beach? So what they did was they formed groups of people. I mean they had groups of people all up and down the coast form these little alliances. Like up North it was call the Clamshell Alliance. And farther down South it was called the Catfish Alliance. They had these Alliances all up and down the coast defending themselves against these threatening monsters. These humongous giant clams. Andt hey'd go out there, if there was maybe fifteen of them they'd be singing songs in fifteen part harmony. And when one part disappeared, that's how they knew where the clam would be.Which is why Americans only sing in four part harmony to this very day. That proved to be too dangerous. See, what they did was they'd be singing these songs called Clam Chanties, and they'd have these big spears called clampoons. And they'd be walking up and down the beach and the method they eventually devised where they'd have this guy, the most strongest heavy duty true blue American, courageous type dude they could find and they'd have him out there walking up and down the beach by himself with other chicken dudes hiding behind the sand dunes somewhere. He'd be singing the verses. They'd be singing the chorus, and clams would hear 'em. And clams hate music. So clams would come out of the water and they'd come after this one guy. And all you'd see pretty soon was flying all over the sand flying up and down the beach manmanclamclammanmanclam manclamclamman up and down the beach going this way and that way up the hills in the water out of the water behind the trees everywhere. Finally the man would jump over a big sand dune, roll over the side, the clam would come over the dune, fall in the hole and fourteen guys would come out there and stab the shit out of him with their clampoons. That's the way it was. That was one way to deal with them. The other way was to weld two clams together. [I don't believe it. I'm losing it. Hey. What can you do. Another night shot to hell.] Hey, this was serious back then. This was very serious. I mean these songs now are just piddly folk songs. But back then these songs were controversial. These was radical, almost revolutionary songs. Because times was different and clams was a threat to America. That's right. So we want to sing this song tonight about the one last... You see what they did was there was one man, he was one of these men, his name will always be remembered, his name was Reuben Clamzo, and he was one of the last great clam men there ever was. He stuck the last clam stab. The last clampoon into the last clam that was ever seen on this continent. Knowing he would be out of work in an hour. He did it anyway so that you and me could go to the beach in relative safety. That's right. Made America safe for the likes of you and me. And so we sing this song in his memory. He went into whaling like most of them guys did and he got out of that, when he died. You know, clams was much more dangerous than whales. Clams can run in the water, on the water or on the ground, and they are so big sometimes that they can jump and they can spread their kinda shells and kinda almost fly like one of them flying squirrels. You could be standing there thinking that your perfectly safe and all of a sudden whop.... That's true... And so this is the song of this guy by the name of Reuben Clamzo and the song takes place right after he stabbed this clam and the clam was, going through this kinda death dance over on the side somewhere. The song starts there and he goes into whaling and takes you through the next...I sing the part of the guy on the beach by himself. I go like this: Poor old Reuben Clamzo and you go Clamzo Boys Clamzo. That's the part of the fourteen chicken dudes over on the other side. That's what they used to sing. They'd be calling these clams out of the water. Like taunting them making fun of them. Clams would get real mad and come out. Here we go. I want you to sing it in case you ever have an occasion to join such an alliance. You know some of these alliances are still around. Still defending America against things like them clams. If you ever wants to join one, now you have some historic background. So you know where these guys are coming from. It's not just some 60's movement or something, these things go back a long time.Notice the distinction you're going to have to make now between the first and easy Clamzo Boys Clamzo and the more complicated Clamzo Me Boys Clamzo. Stay serious! Folk songs are serious. That's what Pete Seeger told me. Arlo I only want to tell you one thing... Folk songs are serious. I said right. Let's do it in C for Clam...Iet's do it in B... For boy that's a big clam... Iet' s do it in G for Gee, I hope that big clam don't see me. Let's do it in F... For …he sees me. Let's do it back in A...for a clam is coming. Better get this song done quick. The Story of Reuben Clamzo and His Strange Daughter in the Key of A.

Acclaimed fingerstyle guitarist El McMeen has arranged beautiful music for guitar from the harp, song, pipe andhymn traditions. Utilizing the evocative C-G-D-G-A-D guitartuning, the author describes the appeal of each tune presentedand notates the arrangement in detailed tablature and music. The arrangements are a result of a process of experimentation -with ornamentation and counterpoint lines playing in differentkeys and registers. Emphasis is placed on creating and preserv-ing the flow of a piece, sensitivity to accenting, and avoidingany 'jarring' elements, while at the same time following theauthor's Three-second rule (a guitarist must do something in-teresting every 3 seconds of a solo to sustain the listener'sinterest.) Each tune contains brief performance notes and, insome cases, lyrics. To aid in the performance of these songs, this book has a Low-C Chord Chart. The pieces included have very diverse origins, yet they have two common elements - they were not originally composed for the guitar and they are certain to be treasured!

Brass Ensemble Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 2 - SKU: A0.802647 By Bee Gees. By Barry Gibb, Maurice Gibb, and Robin Gibb. Arranged by Peet du Toit. Dance,Disco. Score and parts. 23 pages. Peet du Toit #6197563. Published by Peet du Toit (A0.802647). I've Gotta Get a Message to You is a song by the Bee Gees. Released as a single on 7 September 1968, it was their second number-one single on the UK Singles Chart and their first US Top 10 hit.The song is about a man who, awaiting his execution in the electric chair, begs the prison chaplain to pass a final message on to his wife. Robin Gibb, who wrote the lyrics, said that the man's crime was the murder of his wife's lover, though the lyrics do not explicitly allude to the identity of the victim. Robin said, This is about a prisoner on Death Row who only has a few hours to live. He wants the prison chaplain to pass on a final message to his wife. There's a certain urgency about it. Myself and Barry wrote it. It's a bit like writing a script. Sometimes you can sit there for three hours with your guitar and nothing will happen. Then in the last ten minutes something will spark. The song was written with Percy Sledge in mind to record it. Sledge did record it in February 1970 but Atlantic did not issue his version in the United States at the time.Barry recalled, In those days, the lyrics were almost pretty well done on the spot. I don't remember the fundamentals on how the lyrics were formed, except that we were writing about a guy on death row. That was it.Robin adds:It was like acting, you see, we said, let's pretend that somebody, his life is on the line, somebody's going to the chair. What would be going through their mind? Let's not make it doom and gloom but sort of an appeal to the person he loves. Because right now that's all he cares about. Regardless of whether he's done a bad thing, he is a human being, and he's sending out this last message. There's someone out there whom he loves. It's a torch song, but within a very sort of theatrical sense. Not sort of abstract, but definitely somebody in a very bad situation whose life is going to end. What would they be saying, you know? This is it: 'Gotta get a message to you, hold on.Revive this hit on your brass instruments and enjoy!

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet Bassoon,Clarinet,Flute,Horn,Oboe - Level 2 - SKU: A0.1165838 Composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Arranged by Ray Thompson. Classical. 18 pages. RayThompsonMusic #766210. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.1165838). Arranged standard wind quintetIncludes natural Horn in FThe Six Viennese Sonatinas were not originally composed by Mozart for the piano. They are a contemporary arrangement of movements from  the Five Wind Divertimentos for 3 basset horns, K. 439b which Mozart wrote in 1783.The Divertimentos are notable for their conciseness of form and their melodic richness. Each divertimento has 5 mvts. They therefore make an excellent introduction to Mozart's piano music, even though they are not completely typical of Mozart's piano writing. We do not know for certain who made the arrangement, but Alexander Weinmann has shown that it was probably Ferdinand Kauer. The order of movements is not the same as in the original; moreover, some of the Trios have been exchanged and recapitulations have been shortened in some instances.Thry are in varying keys, unlike the original divertimenti, so my arrangements reflect thus. This is my arrangement for wind quintet of Sonatina No.5 in F major. The original 3 parts have been reallocated around the quintet, with some octave and harmony additions.I have added an original natural horn part for a more authentic Mozart sound. There are 3 movements: Larghetto (Divertimento No.4 Mvt.2) Menuetto and Tro (Divertimento No.3 Mvt.2) Polonaise (Divertimento No.5 Mvt.5)

Stuart Brown Music #782621. Published by Stuart Brown Music (A0.1182872). The accompanying score and a choral bundle are also available from this website. The composer writes: 'On That Cross' is a powerful reflection on the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. I came up with the lyrics at around 3am in the morning of 3rd December 2014 sitting at a desk in room 703 of the De Syloia Hotel in Hanoi, Vietnam. Often I find that my periods of working abroad give me the space to think of things in new ways. This song is a good example of that. One look at the first page of the score of 'On That Cross' is all you need to realize that this is not a case of a choir singing with a piano accompaniment. I put the piano part above the choir in order to dispel that misconception. So if it's not that, what is it? I wanted to demonstrate that it is possible to approach a subject from two completely different points of view, without either point of view being compromised by the other, and yet the result can nevertheless be a beautiful synergy. That is what the pianist and the choir are doing here. Each is meditating upon the cross of Christ, but from two totally unrelated points of view and yet somehow combining in a way that is almost hypnotically beautifully. There is little obvious relationship between the choir's and the piano's music; and yet each is reconciled to the other ... and there's a very good reason why I wanted the music to speak of such reconciliation. In late 2014 people in Iraq were being beheaded, crucified and generally killed in the most brutal and sadistic manner possible. Their only ‘crime’ was to dare to call themselves Christians. You can say what you like but in my book nobody has the right to tell anybody else what they should believe, much less murder them on religious grounds. The thing that incensed me almost to the point of incandescence was that the perpetrators of this unspeakable evil dared to justify their actions by claiming that they were acting on behalf of their god. So in such frame of mind I started to write the lyrics to 'On That Cross'.The first words that came into my mind were “Oh men who dare to call on gods to justify your hatred – of this be sure …†and I wanted to follow that with threats of eternal damnation, torture in hellfire and so on. Except that the words that flowed out of my fingers onto my computer screen were not like that at all. “Of this be sure – I love you still, my cross your salvation from all the sin of man.â€It doesn’t get much more powerful than that. I may be incapable of loving the people of ISIS, ISIL, DAESH or whatever one calls them, but my God isn’t. He created them, he sent his Son to die for them … and he is even now ready to save them, as he is you and me. That’s grace.A small group of us sang this at a Good Friday united service in 2016. Guitar - Level 2 - SKU: A0.1486675 By Foo Fighters. By David Grohl. Arranged by Brian Streckfus. Contemporary,Pop,Rock. Chords/Lyrics. 2 pages. Brian Streckfus #1063740. Published by Brian Streckfus (A0.1486675). Key: B minorPages: 2The aim of this version was not historical accuracy. The aim was to create a great solo unplugged coffee-house version with no page turns, though it could still be really useful for any situation. The melody is left intact, some liberties with the harmonies were taken when there is singing. I'm very proud and happy with how it turned out, sometimes you get lucky and the sections fall perfectly into place (which is suprising since there are some odd 3 measure phrases in here). Features:1. Beginner friendly. The chords are so accurate to what the sheet music is doing, that you don't even really need to read sheet music to play this!2. Harmonies that take difficulty, style, voice leading, and melody into consideration3. Condensed lead sheet version that fits on 2 pages to avoid a page turn; yet it is packed with details and naunces.4. Beautifully engraved sections that visually make sense on the page.Tips:1. Measures 8-16 I named that chords as if both guitars were taken into consideration. I'm guilty of sometimes saying, Oh it's just a rock song with power chords, but then you look into the details, and the chords are actually quite jazzy.2. Maybe She sang needs a fermata?3. If a song is in B minor and never changes key, fret 1 will never happens! Be in position 2 for this song! That's why I didn't put fingerings in, they would have been as helpful as confusing.4. Maybe it's a given, but I recommend forcing melody notes on to the chord in one way or another. Sometimes I go on spurts of notating many complex chords to account for the melody, other times I just show one chord per measure but kind of assume that you'll make the guitar work more fancy with the melody notes. Maybe this is overthinking the arrangement, but there is great voicings I'm doing that I want to get across, but sometimes I won't do it because the score will get too busy looking. My goal is to create something that sounds beautiful as a standalone piece of music and, most importantly, that it also makes pianistic sense. Each of my arrangements is made for a specific student, so the results will vary in terms of playing level. Most decisions are based on their current skills and abilities, or where I would like for them to be when they complete the piece. This arrangement was made for two siblings, 10 and 12 at the time! I would consider them both early intermediate, easily playing at Elementary IV NFMC class. This piece was quite the challenge at first. There are some tricky sections with unison runs. Playing cleanly is important here. Pedal should not be used very much except were notated. A definite crowd pleaser. (If you listen to the video, those are my students performing at an Honors Recital—very proud of them!) Pedal and fingering suggestions are included.

Brass Ensemble Bass Trombone,Euphonium,Horn,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 2 - SKU: A0.1081137 Composed by Loys Bourgeois. Arranged by Des McNutty. Baroque,Christmas,Praise & Worship,Renaissance,Traditional. Score and parts. 21 pages. Des Press #685273. Published by Des Press (A0.1081137). Lip-slurs: Not every brass player's idea of fun but an essential facet of technique. In this treatment of Psalm 134, all instruments, except the bass trombone, play their entire part in one position or valve combination with a lot of slurs. Attention must be paid to rhythmic accuracy, both at the beginning of notes and their precise ending. For the best effect, a full tenuto is observed, sustaining each note until it either stops or clicks to the next. Not as easy as it looks! The instruments played can be varied; • Voice 1: Trumpet/cornet/flugelhorn in B♠pressing 1-3; or low F-trumpet open. • Voice 2: Trumpet/cornet/flugelhorn in B♠or bugle or clarion. • Voice 3: Alto trombone (4th pos.); an E♠horn, pressing 1 & 2; or natural trumpet in C. • Voice 4: Tenor trombone in 6th pos. or French horn (open in F) or a baritone/euphonium pressing 1-3. • Voice 5: Tenor trombone in 1st pos. or baritone/euphonium open. • Voice 6: Ideally Bass trombone but fits on tuba, tenor trombone/euphonium etc. A standard brass quintet plus one guest could distribute the parts thusly: • Voices 1 & 2: Two trumpets. • Voice 3: Guest on alto trombone, E♠horn or natural trumpet in C. • Voice 4: Horn open in F as 1st trombone. • Voice 5: Trombone as 2nd trombone • Voice 6: Tuba Some tune-up/ ensemble tuning exercises are included. This setting is a mixture of styles described as contre-pointillist; counterpoint in a natural pointillism where the Cantus Firmus and other lines weave between overlapping harmonic series; and diatonic clusters, which at best will remind listeners of a carillon of church bells. Loys Bourgeois' melody for Psalm 134, better known to Anglophones as The Old Hundredth, was added to the Genevan Psalter in 1551. Leading reformist Calvin had commissioned vernacular (spoken language of the people; in this case, French) settings of Psalm melodies for Protestants to sing and the Genevan Psalter was first published in 1539. Subsequent editions added further melodies but some were still used for more than one Psalm. The lesser-known Lausanne Psalter was the first to give each Psalm its own melody. Psalm 134 is associated with Michaelmas (29th September) and Christmas festivities. Enjoy!

Piano Solo - Early Intermediate - Digital Download By John Barry. Arranged by Flavio Regis Cunha. Score. 4 pages. Published by Flavio Regis Cunha
Somewhere in Time is a 1980 American romantic fantasy drama film directed by Jeannot Szwarc. It is a film adaptation of the 1975 novel Bid Time Return by Richard Matheson, who also wrote the screenplay. The film stars Christopher Reeve, Jane Seymour, and Christopher Plummer.
The original musical score for the film was composed and conducted by John Barry, who was suggested by Jane Seymour, a personal friend of his. Until then the producers were thinking of having a score based on The 18th variation of Sergei Rachmaninoff's "Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini" which is used in the film several times. In lieu of a fee, Barry took a percentage of the royalties on the soundtrack, which went on to become his best-selling film score.

Cello Solo - Level 2 - SKU: A0.596489 Composed by Juan MarÃa Solare. 20th Century,Contemporary,Standards,World. Individual part. 12 pages. Juan Maria Solare #3088085. Published by Juan Maria Solare (A0.596489). Paregamutiún (Friendship): Four melodies of Armenian connotations for cello solo.I am not Armenian, but these melodies could be: it is an invented folklore. Nevertheless, I never wanted to compose an imitation of real Armenian music; for that I should live in Armenia a few years, learn the language, soak in a couple of millennia of culture and impregnate myself with the current problems. And yet it would be doubtful that the result would sound authentic. Neither I was interested in composing some sounding touristic postcards. These melodies reflect, yes, how a thankful being sees the Armenian from outside. And this is what grants them legitimacy.About the titles:The general title of the piece, Paregamutiún, is translatable as friendship. Sometimes it is transliterated Baregamutyun (as a certain station of the subway in Yerevan). The single titles of each piece refers to a lake, a mountain, a mythical patriarch and a tree of Armenia:1) Sevanavank: Monastery of the Black Lake, founded in 874. The name Sevan means literally Black Van, referring to a lake called Van. It is said that long ago the Armenians came from areas next to the lake Van towards the lake Sevan, they noticed that its waters were dark, almost black, but they reminded them of the lake Van, and therefore called it black Van: Sevan.2) Hayk is the patriarch of the foundational myth of the Armenian nation, and the original name of the country (Hayastán: land of the Armenians); some sources affirm that he was great great grandson or great-great-great grandson of Noah.3) Dziranà Dzar: apricot tree, the Armenian national fruit. Dzar is tree and dzirán is apricot, the obvious phonetic similitude seems to underline a strong semantic proximity between both concepts. The letter Dz is a complex phoneme similar to a smooth th.4) Masis is the Armenian name of mount Ararat, where -according to the Bible- ended up Noah's Arch after the Flood (Genesis 8:4).www.JuanMariaSolare.com

Piano,Soprano Saxophone - Level 2 - SKU: A0.549121 Composed by Camille Saint-Saëns (1835 – 1921). Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Instructional,Romantic Period,Standards. Score and part. 9 pages. Jmsgu3 #3452273. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549121). Saint-Saens: The Swan (Le Cygne) movement 13 from the Carnival of the Animals Suite. Duration: 2:50 Score: 5 pg, 28 ms. Solo part: 1 pg. Piano part: 3 pg. Performance: Level: Early intermediate and up. One of his most popular and widely recognized works, it is the only movement from the Carnival Suite that Saint-Saens permitted to be performed in public during his lifetime. This is an excellent recital encore choice to demonstrate melodic playing and strategic phrasing. The Carnival of the Animals The Carnival of the Animals is an entertaining musical suite of fourteen movements by Camille Saint-Saëns. The work was composed for private performance by an ensemble of two pianos and solo instruments. The Swan (No. 13) is one of the most popular of the fourteen movements. In its entirety, it lasts about 25 minutes. Saint-Saëns Background Charles-Camille Saint-Saëns (1835 – 1921) was, by all means, in particular, a famous French composer, brilliant organist, and significant musical mastermind of the Romantic era. Indeed, his most famous compositions, in the long run, including his Piano Concerto No. 2 (1868), Cello Concerto No. 1 (1872), and the Danse macabre (1874). Notwithstanding, we must also add Violin Concerto No. 3 (1880), Symphony No. 3 (the Organ Symphony, 1886), it must be remembered, Carnival of the Animals (1886) to the list. Childhood It is important to realize that Saint-Saëns was certainly, in fact, a child musical prodigy. Consequently, with this in mind, he made his concert debut albeit at ten years old. Another key point to remember is that he expressly studied at the Paris Conservatoire, then in spite of reality conversely followed a traditional career path as a church organist. Nevertheless, twenty years later, on the other hand, he left to become a successful freelance pianist and composer despite, as has been noted, his former employment situation. Furthermore, his performances were after all markedly in demand - not only in Europe but above all in the Americas all in all as well. Youth A point often overlooked is that in his youth, Saint-Saëns was certainly excited about the modern music of the day. He was in essence fond of the music of his contemporaries, in particular, Schumann, Liszt, and for the most part Wagner. In contrast, however, his own compositions seemed in fact largely confined within the conservative classical tradition. Be that as it may, he was at the same time nevertheless, in fact, a scholar of musical history. Criticism On the whole, his conservatism in fact ultimately brought him into frequent conflict in his later years with composers of the impressionist and in particular the dodecaphonic schools of musical thought.  A point often overlooked is that he included neoclassical elements in his music contrary to some critics. Furthermore, in so doing he provided the most compelling evidence that he predicted the techniques and works by Stravinsky and Les Six. To put it another way, given these points, he was regarded, perhaps for the most part unfairly so, as a non-progressive reactionary henceforth around the time of his passing. Legacy To sum up, Saint-Saëns taught for a short time in Paris, where his students included namely Gabriel Fauré. To clarify, Maurice Ravel later studied with Fauré. In conclusion, both Ravel and Fauré were powerfully influenced by Saint-Saëns, whom they respected as a musical mastermind.

Published by Frank Meyer (A0.1097054). Since the year 1984 many people meet at the end of the year in Obermarchtal at the Danube/Donau to sing and make music together. Towards the end of the year 2020 it became very clear that the Corona virus would make it impossible to meet first time since more than 35 years. When I realized that, some words an a melody came to my mind and I wrote this canon for the participants of the Neustifter Musikwoche (www.neustifter-musikwochen.de). We met in some video conferences, talked and had fun in spite of the situation. And I gave this song to the participants to sing it and record the own singing. You can hear and see the result in the youtube channel form the Neustifter Musikwochen. Faith, hope an love are the them of the song, according to 1Kor 13,13. Its intention is not to lose hope and confidence, not even in times like these. Also in 2021 we could not meet singing together in Obermarchtal. But were looking forward hopefully. Note: The edition from 2021 published her contains a few small changes compared to the recording from 2020. ...... Blues,Country,Folk,Instructional,Singer/Songwriter. Chords/Lyrics. 4 pages. Brian Streckfus #788563. Published by Brian Streckfus (A0.1188953). This is lead-sheet style. It notates the vocal melody, guitar chords in diagrams, and the lyrics. These kinds of versions are ideal for singer/song-writers as they are meant to be short and to summarize aspects besides vocals.1. Chord diagrams.2. Lyrics2. Ossia tab for main guitar riff.3. Most grace notes were added.4. Left to right version. There are no navigation symbols. There are some improvisatory ornamental nuances of Morgan Wallen's vocal line that I may not have notated, however I feel like I notated many of them. Notating super fast grace notes that are only audible after listening to the recording many times is kind of uneccessary anyways (i. e. ornamental means unneccessary by definition). That being said, I feel that this version has a chance to be the best on the internet, and I think people will enjoy it.Some guitar parts are notated in sheet music.

Jazz Ensemble Jazz Ensemble - Level 2 - SKU: A0.1273503 Composed by Tchaikovsky, Peter. Arranged by Thingvall, Jon. Film/TV,Jazz. Score and Parts. 88 pages. Jon Thingvall #865640. Published by Jon Thingvall (A0.1273503). Briar Rose was the name of an early version of Sleeping Beauty.  Here, Tchaikovsky’s famous Sleeping Beauty Waltz is perked up a little, and re-imagined for a standard junior high/early high school, jazz big band (5,4,4), and played in 4/4 time.Difficulty:  junior high to early high school band.Designed to help students learn jazz.Key:  F (original ballet key is B-flat)Highest lead trumpet note: concert E (last note), in the treble clef. There are no solos.  Exposed parts have at least two players. The rhythms swing, but are kept predictable, without too much variety.Rhythm section play-along here:  https://youtu.be/rhlifLTzHC8Additional Parts Included:        Score, transposed        Score, concert pitch        Piano/Guitar showing Bass in L.H.        Piano/Guitar only, no Bass        Piano with jazz ideas/options written out        Drum set notation        Drum set kicksheetMeasure 71 (at approx. 1:51) could serve as an Optional Ending, and the director will be able to edit the measure as desired—beef up the “& of two†if desired, and/or add horns on beat 4, etc.  If done in class, as my teachers occasionally did, it can show the students the process of arranging, and might encourage some in that direction. As a classical-turned-jazz pianist, my best memories are of those who helped me bridge the gap from verbatim part-playing to the concepts of learning jazz harmonies and its own unique form of counterpoint.  Writers' suggestions--like Sammy Nestico's, who occasionally specified voicings--were invaluable. So, for classically-trained pianists who are interested in jazz, I’ve included a couple versions of the piano part—a fairly standard “lead sheetâ€, but also one with ideas for voicings, especially quartal, which the classical artist might not have considered.  Further study on YouTube and other Internet sites will help them hear and visualize the difference between jazz and classical. The Bass part gives the student the option of playing the changes, or the written notes.I’ve also included two kinds of drum parts—one with notation for those just starting out, and another “kick sheet†for those with more experience.Manuscript made with Finale v26Sounds from Finale and Garritan “JABB3†(Jazz And Big Band)MP3 courtesy of OnlineAudioConverter.com.

Published by Brian Streckfus (A0.1168489). If you are looking for a historically accurate version, I would just get Hal Leonard's publications of it. This version really sprinkles some razzle dazzle on an otherwise straightforward public domain song in G major, though it does not use the exact original melody.1. The original melody is NOT intact, this is ghostwritten. Notes were flatted to give a bluesier sound.  2. The chords are very modern, despite this song being written in the mid 1850s. 3. Grace notes added 4. Background harmonies now have more thought put into part writing, originality, being idiomatic on guitar, and making the melody the forefront. 5. Left hand fingerings added to aid in sight-reading.6. Letter names added to note heads to aid in sight-reading.7. I like versions like this because it could be used for a guitarist who doesn't sing, a guitarist who does sing, or a guitarist in a band. In otherwords, the more band members, the more you are just focusing on background chords, the more you are a one-person band, the more you have to take everything in. Tips:1. I arranged this so that students could see how blues scales work as I drenched this song in more blues than it originally had (Bb - B...F - F#...E minor blues and G major blues respectively.) You'll notice I don't stay on these dissonant blues notes for very long, that's why there's so many grace notes in this song.2. The D9 in measure 6 was originally a D7. Some extensions like this don't really change the scale in use.3. The Ab7 in measure 7 was originally a D7, making the Ab7 a tritone substitution. If you know the key of G major well, that chord should stick out like a sore thumb. 4. The Bb7 in measure 14 was originally a G7. I call these kind of substituitions mediant substitutions as they are similiar to jazz tritone substitions, but at a 3rd instead of a tritone.5. The Cm(maj7) was originally a C major chord. This is a modal borrowing composition technique of borrowing from the parrallel minor, in this case, G minor.

This study includes 60 pieces selected from different periods which are used with their original accompaniments, was prepared in order to read music (solfeggio), one of the most important elements in music education, using examples selected from music literature in an enjoyable way. Care has been taken to ensure that the selected music displays color and diversity in terms of technique, style, and geography, and it aims to be an eye-opener. The pieces are arranged according to the level, and when new topics and elements are used, they are indicated on each piece. Dynamics were not used in the first 10 pieces while trying to preserve to the original dynamics used in the music, minor changes were made where necessary. When possible, the original tempos of the music have been kept, but the tempo of some instrumental music has been reconsidered for this anthology and given as an approximation (circa: ca.). The musical slurs used in the pieces show the musical sentences and the breathing places. Parts of the anthology pieces might be played or studied in different ways.
