Full Orchestra - Level 5 - SKU: A0.1025416 Composed by Jehad Choate. Contemporary,Jazz,Latin. Score and parts. 45 pages. Jehad Choate #5818515. Published by Jehad Choate (A0.1025416). Based off the texts of Joseph Campbell, this is a musical representation of the hero’s journey with a twist: The hero becomes fully aware of the cycle they are both blessed and cursed to follow. With every step, the hero fights the tropes of mythology, but can they escape their own fate?Movement I: The Calling introduces our main theme naively. It's done in a style reflective of all action/adventure genres: romantically boastful, one dimensional and confident. But as the call to adventure imposes itself on the hero, the hero begins to think that all is not what it seems to be.Movement II: The Motions is a set of trials where the hero experiences great loss, triumphant battles, and a renewed image. Yet, that is just the cycle they expected and its trite conclusion and three act distinction troubles the hero.Movement III: A Fool’s Reckoning is a response to being a pawn in someone else’s story. It takes all learned elements and tries to distort them to be something new and different. But what if this transformation was all part of the same cycle? The hero fights until they forget what they fight for. Reluctantly resilient, they carry on wondering if there was ever anything heroic about them at all.

Call to the Stars tells the story of a young woman who wants to see the universe. The songs four main sections detail first her longing for space, the creation and launch of her ship, her emotions as she sees Earth from space, and finally as she takes off through the galaxy, ready for her adventure.

Percussion Ensemble Sleigh Bells - Level 1 - SKU: A0.1113251 Composed by Brian Monroe. Contemporary,Contest,Festival,Holiday. Score and parts. 17 pages. BLM Music Publications (https://brianmonroemusic.com) #715195. Published by BLM Music Publications (https://brianmonroemusic.com) (A0.1113251). Riding a toboggan down a hill on a cold, winter afternoon is always fun, but at night make for a terrifically terrifying time. It's cold, and dark and you never know what's around the next banking turn. Excitement and Terror combine to create an adventure you will always remember. The Terrifically Terrifying Toboggan Trek is my second piece for very easy percussion ensemble with the beginning percussionists in mind. The piece has been scored by utilizing patterns which are relatively easy to learn. Layering and varying the patterns makes a fun and interesting piece to learn and perform. In addition, the use of the Alphanotes allows the new percussionist to review reading notes as they learn a piece which is most likely more difficult than they would normally perform. This will allow the students to focus on time keeping and listening. All the pattern as found on the back of each part. I also recommend the director play the sleighbells part as a way to be a part of the ensemble and so he/she can set a steady beat for everyone to follow Instrumentation: Part 1: Bells Part 2: Bells Part 3: Bells Part 4: Bells or Vibraphone Using a vibraphone will give you more of a bass note sound..

String Quartet Cello,String Quartet,Viola,Violin - Level 2 - SKU: A0.1366465 By Jaron Khor. By Deng Yuxian. Arranged by Jaron Khor. 19th Century,Chamber,Classical,Folk,Traditional. 12 pages. Jaron Khor #950798. Published by Jaron Khor (A0.1366465). Deng Yuxian (July 21, 1906 - June 11, 1944) was a Taiwanese Hakka composer known for nearly a hundred iconic compositions, including Rainy Night Flowers, Spring Breeze, and Four Seasons Red. He is acclaimed as the Father of Taiwanese Ballads. Born in Taoyuan into a family with a rich history, Deng attended the Taipei Normal School under Japanese rule and later pursued composition studies in Japan.Upon returning to Taiwan, Deng Yuxian created numerous popular songs. In 1940, he left the music industry to become a teacher. Unfortunately, he succumbed to heart and lung disease in 1944 at the age of less than 40. Deng's musical legacy has had a profound impact on the Taiwanese music scene, leaving an indelible mark on its history.Spring Breeze, also known as Desire to the Spring Breeze, is an ancient traditional music piece with roots in a rich and old musical tradition. Known for its millennia-old melody and profound cultural significance, the song typically expresses anticipation for spring and praises the vibrant natural scenery. In this reimagined arrangement, I aimed to depart from traditional arrangement methods, incorporating rich scene paintings and vivid imagery. Each section has been crafted as a musical canvas, seeking to portray imaginative landscapes between the notes. This innovative approach challenges tradition, breathing new life into this ancient piece, making it more resonant with contemporary audiences. This arrangement is not just a reinterpretation of the music but also a tribute to tradition and an exploration of new perspectives. I hope this musical adventure guides you through the intersection of tradition and modernity, allowing Spring Breeze to blossom anew in a fresh narrative of sound, providing you with a wondrous journey for the soul.

Published by Elizabeth Parrill (A0.1029371). Tears of a Whale will take you on a deep-sea adventure. In the beginning waves crash on the beach and wind fills the air when suddenly a voice calls out beckoning to the danger of the deep. The darkness engulfs as the shore disappears from view. Swimming farther out to the ocean’s depths, whales appear and cry out showing their beauty and pain. Swimming back to shore, one is left in wonder and to wonder.

Flute Solo - Level 5 - SKU: A0.1018922 Composed by Benjamin Harry Sajo. 20th Century,Contemporary. Individual part. 4 pages. Benjamin Sajo #6072947. Published by Benjamin Sajo (A0.1018922). Fugue: Wear Pearls and Smile is, on the outset, a fast, rambunctious adventure for many voices playing at the same time. It was conceived as a pairing for the equally vivacious second symphony of Ludwig van Beethoven–his 250th birthday is this year–but can stand on its own as one of my hardest, most challenging works to cook up.This piece is dedicated to those forced to appear positive when internally they’re falling apart. The title is inspired by a quote that’s been with me for a while, Why is it that men can be bastards and women must wear pearls and smile? by Lynn Hecht Schafren, the celebrated American jurist famous for campaigning for gender equity in courts. I’m taking the quote out of its initial context, but the power of that quote, for me, exemplifies how hard it is to maintain a sense of emotional decorum and dignity when you’re authentically a hot mess. And what’s more of a musical hot mess than a fugue? There are two realities to this piece. I’ll quote Dmitri Shostakovich, from his autobiography: The rejoicing is forced, created under threat, […] It’s as if someone were beating you with a stick and saying, ‘Your business is rejoicing, your business is rejoicing,’ and you rise, shaky, and go marching off, muttering ‘Our business is rejoicing, our business is rejoicing.’ On the one hand, it is insincere happiness, cloying perhaps. But the other truth, I’ll quote Oscar Hammerstein II, from The King and I: While shivering in my shoes / I strike a careless pose / And whistle a happy tune / And no one ever knows, / I'm afraid. I forced myself, against all impulses of my current being, to forge happiness. This piece, with its origin being a mental puzzle (fugues are puzzles), it became a construct where I could lift myself up and regain a sense of purpose. French Horn Solo - Level 5 - SKU: A0.1018931 Composed by Benjamin Harry Sajo. 20th Century,Contemporary. Individual part. 4 pages. Benjamin Sajo #6072965. Published by Benjamin Sajo (A0.1018931). Therefore, it is invented–out of a literal need to survive–pure, genuine happiness.Future Performances: If you are interested in performing this work, please e-mail me.ABOUT THE COMPOSER: Benjamin Sajo (b. 1988) is a Canadian composer of contemporary classical music, as well as an educator. Published by Benjamin Sajo (A0.1018941). String Orchestra - Level 1 - SKU: A0.996375 Composed by Sandra Strand. Contemporary,Multicultural,Standards,World. Score and parts. 17 pages. Sandra Strand #5899991. Published by Sandra Strand (A0.996375). One of my most valuable teaching techniques is the incorporation of literacy into each music lesson. This can be found in music-based worksheets, popcorn reading, power point presentations, or even creative writing. These lessons are not intended to take up much time and help to engage the students at the start of class. In order to capture the attention of the diverse types of learners in my orchestra I composed this piece with the intention of the students writing a background story (or liner notes) for the work. Using familiar themes from the French tune Il est né le Divin Enfant (in a minor key) and a portion of the Irish ballad Star of the County Down I created an interesting pirate sounding shanty. The title, Ghost Ship’s Call, is a guideline for this write your own adventure piece. The students can explore different ideas for the harmonic and melodic changes in the music.
