Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 4 - SKU: A0.1188028 By Meghan Trainor. By Kevin Kadish and Meghan Trainor. Arranged by Stephen Jenkins. Chamber,Comedy,Film/TV,Holiday,Pop. 28 pages. Edition BlechMafia #787642. Published by edition BlechMafia (A0.1188028). Inspired by Post Modern Jukebox’s Upright-Bass-Solo cover of the pop song “All About that Bassâ€, we decided to turn the BlechMafia version into a tuba solo.We mixed tuba excerpts from orchestral and film literature, such as the Dragon-Solo from Wagner’s Ring Cycle and the Imperial March from Star Wars, into Meghan Trainor’s original. As rehearsals progressed we decided to add more orchestral excerpts into other instruments as well. Thus the Siegfried Call from Wagner’s Ring Cycle interrupts the Imperial March and a theme from Humperdinck’s Hänsel and Gretel was added to the trumpet part. Rehearsing this piece was quite a challenge - we could barely get to the end without laughing! The result is definitely worth listening too and sure to be a hit in any concert!Duration: 4:00Parts include:Trumpet 1 in Bb or CTrumpet 1 in Bb or CHorn in FTrombone in C (Bass Clef) or Bb (Treble Clef)TubaDrum KitFor alternative transpositions or any other questions, contact me here: stephen@blechmafia.de.

Brass Ensemble Euphonium - Level 3 - SKU: A0.813827 Composed by Antonin Dvorak. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Contemporary,Romantic Period,Standards. Score and parts. 18 pages. Regis Bookshar #6533911. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813827). Largo (from Symphony No. 9 in E minor) (From the New World) (Db) (Euphonium Quintet) - Intermediate - . This marvelous arrangement of the Largo, based on the second movement of Antonin Dvorak's Symphony No. 9 in E minor, would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for concerts, recitals and church services, especially Funerals, but would be appropriate any time during the church year. This arrangement is suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing this selection. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (18 pages). This selection is one of the many arrangements from the The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available for the first time.Symphony No. 9 in E minor, Op. 95 (subtitled From the New World and popularly know as the New World Symphony), was composed by Antonin Dvorak in 1893 while he was the director of the National Conservatory of Music of America from 1892 to 1895. It premiered at Carnegie Hall in New York City on December 16, 1893 and has been described as one of the most popular of all symphonies. The second movement of the symphony, upon which this arrangement is based, is marked Largo, and begins with a harmonic progression of chords which is then followed by a solo instrument playing the famous main theme.Dvorak was interested in Native American music and the African-American spirituals he heard in North America. While director of the National Conservatory he encountered an African-American student, Harry T. Burleigh, who sang traditional spirituals to him. Burleigh, later a composer himself, said that Dvorak had absorbed their spirit before writing his own melodies. Dvorak stated:    I am convinced that the future music of this country must be founded on what are called Negro melodies. These can be the foundation of a serious and original school of composition to be developed in the United States. These beautiful and varied themes are the product of the soil. They are folk songs of America and your composers must turn to them.He further explained how Native American music influenced his symphony:  I have not actually used any of these (Native American) melodies. I have simply written original themes embodying the peculiarities of the Indian music, and, using these themes as subjects, have developed them with all the resources of modern rhythms, counterpoint, and orchestral colour. In 1893, a newspaper interview quoted Dvorak as saying, I found that the music of the negroes and of the Indians was practically identical, and that the music of the two races bore a remarkable similarity to the music of Scotland. Most historians agree that Dvorak is referring to the pentatonic scale, which is typical of each of these musical traditions.Dvorak was influenced not only by music he heard, but also by what he had seen, in America. He wrote that he would not have composed his American pieces as he had if he had not seen America. It has been said that Dvorak was inspired by the wide open spaces of America, such as the prairies he may have seen on his trip to Iowa in the summer of 1893. Notices about several performances of the symphony include the phrase wide open spaces about what inspired the symphony and/or about the feelings it conveys to listeners. The theme from the Largo was adapted into the spiritual Goin' Home (often mistakenly considered a folk song or traditional spiritual) by Dvorak's pupil, William Arms Fisher, who wrote the lyrics in 1922. Regis Bookshar thought it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists could have the opportunity to play this beautiful melody, so, in addition to this version for a Euphonium Quintet written in Bass Clef, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this selection which are readily available for a.

Brass Ensemble Euphonium - Level 3 - SKU: A0.813738 Composed by Gustav Holst. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. 20th Century,Contemporary,Sacred,Standards,Wedding. Score and parts. 9 pages. Regis Bookshar #6475073. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813738). O God, Beyond All Praising (Thaxted) (Bb) (Euphonium Quintet) - Intermediate - . This marvelous arrangement of O God, Beyond All Praising, a hymn tune based on the Andante Maestoso section from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from Gustav Holst's The Planets, would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for church services, especially Weddings and Funerals, but would be appropriate any time during the church year. However, if you are looking to perform this selection for concerts or recitals, I would suggest you look for the arrangement of Jupiter (Andante Maestoso from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from The Planets), also by Regis Bookshar. These arrangements are suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing these selections as well. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (9 pages). This selection is one of the many arrangements from The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available for the first time. We have performed the Trumpet Quintet version of this composition quite often for numerous weddings and other special occasions. The Planets, written between 1914 and 1917 by the English composer Gustav Holst, premiered at the Queen's Hall in London, on September 29, 1918 for an invited audience of about 250 people. In the fourth movement, Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity, Holst portrays Jupiter's supposedly characteristic abundance of life and vitality. Nobility and generosity are allegedly characteristics of those born under Jupiter, and in the slower, middle section marked Andante Maestoso, perhaps the most well-known theme from The Planets (and the theme on which this arrangement is based), Holst provides a broad tune embodying these traits. In 1921, Holst adapted the theme to fit the patriotic poem I Vow to Thee, My Country by Cecil Spring Rice, and was written as a unison song with orchestra. It did not appear as the hymn tune until 1926, when Holst harmonized this melody, named Thaxted, named after the English village where he had lived for many years. Holst's friend Ralph Vaughan Williams included it in Songs of Praise. It has since been performed at numerous occasions, most notably for the wedding of Prince Charles and Diana, Princess of Wales in 1981, and also at the funerals of Princess Diana in 1997, Margaret Thatcher in 2013 and Senator John McCain where it was performed at the Washington National Cathedral on September 1, 2018. In addition to being used as the melody for the solemn, patriotic hymn I Vow to Thee, My Country, other settings of this hymn tune also include O God, Beyond All Praising, by Michael Perry in 1982, O Spirit All Embracing by Delores Dufner in 1995 and We Praise You and Acknowledge You, O God, a paraphrase of the Te Deum Laudemus by Stephen P. Starke in 1999.Regis Bookshar thought that it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists could have the opportunity to play this beautiful melody, so, in addition to the Trumpet Quintet version and this version for a Euphonium Quintet, written in Bass Clef, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this selection. A version for a Euphonium Quintet written in Treble Clef is also available, if you prefer. There are Quintets readily available for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. Please take the time to look for other versions of this composition. You may find something else that may also suit your needs. I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar, as well, as there are numerous arrangements in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you. Please continue to check periodically because new arrangements are added as often as possible. I'm certain that this beautiful arrangement of O God, Beyond All Praising based on the Andante Ma.

B-Flat instrument,Bass Clef Instrument,C Instrument,E-Flat Instrument,Instrumental Solo,Piano - Level 2 - SKU: A0.781994 By The Cyrkle. By Bruce Woodley and Paul Simon. Arranged by Aaron Hettinga. 20th Century,Contemporary,Folk,Pop,Rock. Score and individual part. 18 pages. Aaron Hettinga #6036639. Published by Aaron Hettinga (A0.781994). This oldie but goodie by Cyrkle and Simon & Garfunkel is presented here in a flexible arrangement for Instrumental Solo with Piano Accompaniment. This package includes transposed parts to allow for any instrumentalist to play this song with a pianist. All of the packaged solo parts are prepared to be relatively accessible to players of even moderate ability as there are no major range challenges that are taxing to the extremes of any instrument. Alternatively, the soloist may optionally wish to play the written part an octave higher (such as for Flute or Violin). The technical challenges may come about if taken at a particularly brisk tempo, but even a slightly slower interpretation will sound great.

Brass Ensemble Euphonium - Level 3 - SKU: A0.813678 Composed by Gustav Holst. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. 20th Century,Contemporary,Multicultural,Standards,Wedding,World. Score and parts. 9 pages. Regis Bookshar #6473857. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813678). I Vow to Thee, My Country (Thaxted) (Bb) (Euphonium Quintet) - Intermediate - . This marvelous arrangement of I Vow to Thee, My Country, a hymn tune based on the Andante Maestoso section from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from Gustav Holst's The Planets, would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for church services, especially Weddings and Funerals, but would be appropriate any time during the church year. Starke in 1999.Regis Bookshar thought that it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists could have the opportunity to play this beautiful melody, so, in addition to the Trumpet Quintet version and this version for a Euphonium Quintet, written in Bass Clef, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this selection, including a version for a Euphonium Quintet, written in Treble Clef, if you would prefer. There are Quintets readily available for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. Please take the time to look for other versions of this composition. Regis Bookshar #6636627. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813984). Euphonium Octet - Intermediate - . This arrangement of Silent Night, or in German, Stille Nacht, would be a wonderful addition to any music library and could be performed for Christmas concerts, recitals, and, especially, church services. It is equally suitable for junior and senior high school students and even older musicians. Depending on their ability, younger musicians would also enjoy playing this selection. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (11 pages). This selection is one of the many arrangements from The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available for the first time.Silent Night is probably the most popular Christmas carol ever written. It was composed in 1818 by Franz Xaver Gruber to lyrics by Joseph Mohr and was first performed on Christmas Eve at St. Nicholas parish church in Oberndorf, a small village in present-day Austria. A young Catholic priest, Father Joseph Mohr, had written the poem, Stille Nacht, in 1816 and had gone to Oberndorf in 1817. The melody was composed by Franz Xaver Gruber, schoolmaster and organist in the nearby village of Arnsdorf. On Christmas Eve, 1818, Mohr brought the words to Gruber and asked him to compose a melody and guitar accompaniment for that night's mass, after river flooding had possibly damaged the church organ. The church was eventually destroyed by repeated flooding and has since been replaced with the Silent-Night-Chapel.According to Gruber, Karl Mauracher, an organ builder who serviced the instrument at the Oberndorf church, was enamored with the song, and took the composition home with him to the Ziller Valley in Tyrol, Austria. From there, two traveling families of folk singers, the Strassers and the Rainers, included the tune in their shows. The Rainers were already singing it around Christmas, 1819, and once performed it for an audience that included Franz I of Austria and Alexander I of Russia. They also gave the first performance of the song in the United States in New York City in 1839. By the 1840's, the song was well known and was reported to be a favorite of Frederick William IV of Prussia. During this period, the melody changed slightly to become the version that is commonly heard today. The version of the melody that is generally used today is a slow, meditative lullaby, or pastoral, differing slightly from Gruber's original which has a moderate tempo. The song has been translated into about 140 languages and has been recorded by many singers across many music genres. The version sung by Bing Crosby in 1935, has sold over 10 million copies as a single. In this arrangement of Silent Night, Regis Bookshar has kept the basic form of this familiar Christmas carol, but has also included a descant during the third verse. Also, in addition to this version for a Euphonium Octet, written in Bass Clef, there are other arrangements of Silent Night available for a variety of instrumental ensembles. There is also a version for a Euphonium Octet, written in Treble Clef, if you prefer. There are Quintets and Octets readily available for purchase. There is also a version for a Euphonium Octet, written in Bass Clef, if you prefer. There are Quintets and Octets readily available for purchase. Please take the time to look for other versions of this composition. You may find something else that might also suit your needs.I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar, as well, as there are numerous arrangements in a wide variety of styles, also available for purchase. Brass Ensemble Euphonium - Level 3 - SKU: A0.813966 Composed by Franz Xaver Gruber. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Instructional,Multicultural,World. Score and parts. 7 pages. Regis Bookshar #6635847. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813966). Euphonium Quintet - Intermediate - . Included are a score and a complete set of parts (7 pages). The version of the melody that is generally used today is a slow, meditative lullaby, or pastoral, differing slightly from Gruber' s original which has a moderate tempo. Also, in addition to this version for a Euphonium Quintet, written in Treble Clef, there are other arrangements of Silent Night available for a variety of instrumental ensembles. Piano Solo - Level 4 - SKU: A0.918243 Composed by Emily Nafius. 20th Century,Contemporary,Jazz,Pop,Standards. Score. 4 pages. Emily Nafius Music #5995145. Published by Emily Nafius Music (A0.918243). A modern, meditative original composition, suitable for students and advanced musicians alike.Composer’s Note:Nojoqui Falls (pronounced NAW-ho-wee) is a seasonal waterfall in Santa Barbara County, California, in the interior foothills of the Santa Ynez Mountains. It is the subject of stories from the Chumash, a Native American people who have lived along California’s central coast for thousands of years. When the area experiences extreme drought, sometimes the waterfall reduces to a trickle. But it is a beautiful, shady place with a magical quality, and the water always returns. For interested students or teachers, here are a few pedagogical notes:Pedal ad lib is appropriate for this piece. Unless a player has very large hands, the right hand will need to cover most of the top notes in the bass clef (the C ostinato). This can be a welcome challenge for students, as they will need to balance this with sustaining and shaping the top melody notes. Some of the middle C ostinato notes are indicated as optional, since they are already struck as melody notes during the same beat. (But they are still notated in case another instrument plays the melody.) It might feel awkward to strike some of the other C ostinato notes that are rhythmically nearby, but it can also be a good way to practice leaving that sustained melodic note ringing while striking the same note soon after with a much quieter dynamic, which requires both control and skilled use of the pedal.About the Composer:Emily Nafius is a pianist in Southern California with her musical roots in jazz. As a soloist or sideman, she has performed at numerous music venues around California in an eclectic mix of styles, and recorded with a variety of singer-songwriters and rock bands. Her work as an accompanist spans classical, jazz, and musical theatre, receiving praise for her theatre work as a pianist and ensemble leader. She has maintained a teaching studio for over fifteen years, instructing musicians of all ages.

Trombone, Tuba, Euphonium - Advanced Intermediate - Composed by Eric Bolvin. Method, Etudes and Exercises, General Instructional, Technique Training. 55 pages. Published by Faded Duck Music
Most brass players are familiar with the ubiquitous Clarke?s Technical Studies. Here are some creative variations on Studies I, II, III, V and VII. Click our free sample below to read the introduction and try some easy sample exercises. All the variations are progressive so I guarantee they get harder and will be useful to players at all levels and styles.
There are two essential books that just about every trumpet player has studied; Arban?s Conservatory Method and Clarke?s Technical Studies. The Arban is fondly referred to as ?the trumpet player?s bible?. If that is the case, then the Clarke should be ?the new testament?. I consider Herbert L. Clarke to be the ?George Washington? of trumpet, as he was the one of the first Americans to achieve greatness as a performer on the cornet. He was also one of the first notable pedagogues and taught such greats as Rafael Mendez and Claude Gordon, who was my teacher. I am fond of telling my students that they are the great-grandchildren of H. L. Clarke, one of our country?s first great virtuosos.
The impetus for this set of variations is based on the idea of an ?Expanding Scale? or ?Expanding Range?. Each set will start with a small range of notes covering an interval such as a 5th and will expand over the course of the study to the whole range of the trumpet. The idea is to imagine you are ?holding one note? and let your fingers do the rest. This concept is, of course, metaphorical but if employed will greatly enhance your technique and efficiency.
This is a progressive course, so it is recommended that you practice the studies in the order they are presented. Make note of the intervals in each study. Study 1 is all chromatic, so it is easier to transition from one note to another. The second group is based on Clarke Study 5 and is all diatonic. The third group is based on Clarke Study 2 which is diatonic with some thirds. The fourth group is based on Clarke Study 3 which is arpeggios. So with each group the intervals get a little more challenging. I?ve also included more chromatic work based on Studies 7 & 8.

Small Ensemble Cello,Double Bass,Euphonium,Trombone,Tuba - Level 4 - SKU: A0.933707 Composed by Josh Rogan. Instructional. Score and parts. 227 pages. Josh Rogan #3544415. Published by Josh Rogan (A0.933707). This book was written for anyone who wishes to improve their scales, regardless of their current ability to play the instrument. In this book, you will find the following scales in all keys: Major, Harmonic Minor, Dorian, Phrygian, Lydian, Mixolydian, Aeolian, Locrian, Whole Tone, Half-Whole Diminished, and Whole-Half Diminished scales. Each scale type is split into two sections, Part 1 and Part 2. Part 1 focuses on typical scale patterns, and Part 2 focuses on repetition to help build muscle memory and ‘iron out’ some of the more awkward patterns. You can work on this book in any way you please! You may want to start at the beginning and work all of the way through the book in one day (taking over 5 hours!), or you may want to work on one scale type each week. You could also divide your practice into ‘Part 1’ and ‘Part 2’ days, doing only one part per day, which would mean that you can work your way through the book only spending about 15 minutes each day if you want. Either way, you can use this book in whatever way suits you best.

These TWO SUITES were composed in response to a request form Heini Schneebeli, the musical director of ‘TROMBONANZA 2017’. Santa Fe in Argentina is the backdrop for this exciting annual event involving many hundreds of student and professional players. The SECOND SUITE has five movements and is intended for a quartet of younger tenor trombonists working with a teacher on the fifth part on bass trombone who will add richness and depth to the ensemble sound. It is my hope that this piece will encourage, entertain and challenge student players and provide useful concert material for use in the promotion of this unique and versatile instrument. John Frith - 2017 This work is appropriate for younger performers at an intermediate level all in bass clef. The five movements total about 9 minutes in length and have the following titles: 1. Latin Dance 2. Ballad 3. Give Me a Break! 4. Bass Waltz 5. Cruisin’ Along (swing)

This series focuses on learning by doing; there are many accomplished performers within our school classrooms throughout the world, but my years of experience has taught me that many of these students learn to play by rote – literally be learning one note followed by another – without gaining full understanding of how the pieces work musically and theoretically. Indeed, some of them can perform to a high standard using this method, but then really struggle with composition and general musical understanding later in their educational careers.I equate this to learning to speak sentences in a foreign language without fully understanding what those sentences actually mean.So who is this book for?It is for music teachers to use with their students who are learning to create exam-level compositions within a school environment. It is ideal for courses such as the American High School Diploma, GCSE, IGCSE, SCS, HKCEE, IB(MYP), SPM, GCEO, CCEF, HKCEE, VSSD, GES or ICSE.It is designed to cater for almost any instrument due to the parts being provided in many different keys and clefs (including tab and bass tab). Drum parts are intentionally not provided as drummers still need to have a good understanding of non-percussive elements such as melody and harmony; I would suggest that they play a keyboard part for the purposes of learning about composition. You can also download backing tracks of all pieces in this series by searching:Classroom Performance educational pack: MELODY backing tracksThese contain parts 2-5, allowing part 1 to be played live over the top.
