Easy Piano - Level 2 - SKU: A0.1152182 Composed by Traditional Gaelic Melody. Arranged by Leonora Hardy. Celtic,Christian,Irish,Religious,Sacred. Score. 2 pages. Leonora Hardy #752397. Published by Leonora Hardy (A0.1152182). This beautiful hymn is in an easily learned arrangement. It is intended for the church pianist who wants to bring something more to the music than what most hymnals offer for congregational singing accompaniment. The melody is retained, as well as traditional timing to help singers even if a song leader is not present. Chords for guitar are included. Baptism, Communion, Offertory, Prelude, Worship. Right hand melody.

Flute,Piano - Level 1 - SKU: A0.548741 By Cat Stevens. By Cat Stevens. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Rock. Score and part. 11 pages. Jmsgu3 #3415207. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.548741). Very strong arrangement for Easter. Duration: 2:48. 84 ms. Score: 7 pg. Solo part 1 pg. piano part 3 pg. Morning Has Broken is a popular and well-known Christian hymn first published in 1931. It has words by English author Eleanor Farjeon and was inspired by the village of Alfriston in East Sussex, then set to a traditional Scottish Gaelic tune known as Bunessan [1] (it shares this tune with the 19th century Christmas Carol Child in the Manger[2]). It is often sung in children's services and in Funeral services.[3] English pop musician and folk singer Cat Stevens included a version on his 1971 album Teaser and the Firecat. The song became identified with Stevens due to the popularity of this recording. It reached number six on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, number one on the U.S. easy listening chartin 1972,[4] and number four on the Canadian RPM Magazine charts. The hymn originally appeared in the second edition of Songs of Praise (published in 1931), to the tune Bunessan, composed in the Scottish Islands. In Songs of Praise Discussed, the editor, Percy Dearmer, explains that as there was need for a hymn to give thanks for each day, English poet and children's author Eleanor Farjeon had been asked to make a poem to fit the lovely Scottish tune. A slight variation on the original hymn, also written by Eleanor Farjeon, can be found in the form of a poem contributed to the anthology Children's Bells, under Farjeon's new title, A Morning Song (For the First Day of Spring), published by Oxford University Press in 1957. The song is noted in 9/4 time but with a 3/4 feel. Bunessan had been found in L. McBean's Songs and Hymns of the Gael, published in 1900.[5] Before Farjeon's words, the tune was used as a Christmas carol, which began Child in the manger, Infant of Mary, translated from the Scottish Gaelic lyrics written by Mary MacDonald. The English-language Roman Catholic hymnal also uses the tune for the James Quinn hymns, Christ Be Beside Me and This Day God Gives Me, both of which were adapted from the traditional Irish hymn St. Patrick's Breastplate. Another Christian hymn, Baptized In Water, borrows the tune. -Wikipedia

-Wikipedia

-Wikipedia

John Fisher #878132. Published by John Fisher (A0.1287126). This sermon song was inspired by a homily by Dr. Paul de Jong of First Presbyterian Fort Myers Florida, July 30, 2023 from Mark 1: 1-11.In the beginning the earth was created. In the beginning the Word was made flesh.Jesus our Saviour began His long journey, baptized by John, His spirit was fresh. When He was baptized, He rose from the water, there was a voice, as a dove was released.God spoke to all who had gathered at Jordan, This is my son, in whom I am pleased.Adam and Eve, they me sin in the garden, Jesus was tempted in desert so dry.Because what happened to Eve and to Adam, Jesus for us did suffer and die.For forty days He was tempted by Satin, guarded by angels He never gave in.  Likewise e're challenged by forces of evil, but by our faith we're saved from our sin.

The tune BUNESSAN is a traditional Gaelic melody firstprinted in 1888 as the setting of Mary MacDonald's carol "Child in theManger." The tune was named after Mary's birthplace on the Isle of Mulloff Scotland's western coast. BUNESSAN is commonly associated with hymnscelebrating new beginnings: the aforementioned "Child in the Manger,"then the 1931 creation-celebrating hymn "Morning Has Broken," and themore recent but lesser-known 1982 hymn ?Baptized in Water.? The title of this piece, ?A Hymn of Beginnings,?recognizes that association.
Sacred bassoon solos aren?t common and those that exist tendto be quite pedestrian. With a new bassoonist in our church orchestra whosetalents go well beyond the pedestrian it seemed opportune to try something newand thus, ?A Hymn of Beginnings? took shape. The music has a conventional feelbut with a palpable dash of the unfamiliar, achieved through subdued bi-tonalcoloring, matching the major-key melody with a minor-key harmonization thatmoves by descending thirds. Still, it remains quite accessible to the casuallistener with its familiar melody and obvious tonality.
?A Hymn of Beginnings? is suitable for intermediate leveland above musicians and works well at any time of the church year with itscontemplative yet varied moods. Its association with new beginnings makes itparticularly suited to Christmas, Easter, baptismal services, weddings, andothers.
