Bass Trombone,Instrumental Solo - Level 5 - SKU: A0.1018890 Composed by Benjamin Harry Sajo. 20th Century,Contemporary. Individual part. 2 pages. Benjamin Sajo #6056111. Published by Benjamin Sajo (A0.1018890). Programme Notes: Icarus Also Flew takes its title from the first line of the poem Failing and Flying by Jack Gilbert. He is referring to the classical myth of Daedalus and Icarus, an inventive father and son who bravely escape from their imprisonment in a tower by collecting the disposed feathers of seabirds, then fashion wings out of them and fly away. While the story is often treated as a morality tale--listen to your elders, don’t get cocky like the young man, Icarus, who, in such an understandable state of elation, ascended too close to the sun thus causing the wings to melt and his tumbling to his Mediterranean death--what Jack Gilbert reminds us is how regardless of one’s failure, the sheer transcendental experience of mortal flight remains glorious and unforgettable. Icarus’s fall was not into a legacy of disdain and oblivion, but in truth, he had come to the end of his triumph. This piece was the first of a series I composed during the Covid-19 quarantine conditions of 2020, to serve as potential contemporary preludes for each of Ludwig van Beethoven’s nine symphonies--his two hundred and fiftieth anniversary was this year!--though they can all stand on their own on any program. The connection, in this case, is with his celebrated fifth symphony in C minor--the Fate symphony, as it is commonly known. I’ll let the listener find their own connections.About the Composer:Benjamin Sajo (b. 1988) is a Canadian composer of contemporary classical music, as well as an educator. Since developing a fiercely independent creative voice upon the completion of his studies at Western (2010) and McGill Universities (2013), he continues to find inspiration from the intersection of mythology, art, and nature upon the contemporary human experience. In 2019, he released his premiere album of original music, The Great War Sextet: Canadian War Poetry with Trombone & Strings, with support from the Ontario Arts Council. He is a member of SOCAN and the League of Canadian Composers.

Full Orchestra - Level 3 - SKU: A0.1008363 Composed by Alexander Borodin, Cesar Antonovich Cui, Liadov, and Nikolay Andreyevich Rimsky-Korsakov. Arranged by Arkady Leytush. Children,Romantic Period. Score and parts. 36 pages. Arkady Leytush #4810761. Published by Arkady Leytush (A0.1008363). The original version of this music was written for piano in 3 hands (teacher and student). I have orchestrated this for a large symphony orchestra. Equally important is participation of a child of 4-5 years old as a soloist, who will be playing on the piano the main theme of Tati-Tati at the beginning and at the end.It all started as a musical joke from Borodin in a circle of his friends-composers: Rimsky-Korsakov, Cui and Lyadov. The joke turned into collective work which resulted into 24 variations with the finale paraphrasing Tati-Tati. I usually tell this story to the audience before performing. 24 Variations with Finale is an composition that is oriented for family and children symphonic concerts, when the educational part is of great importance for the young listeners to understand classical music, the sound and characteristics of individual musical instruments and groups of the orchestra, what development principles are used by each composer, etc. F. Liszt gave the best assessment to this composition. He pointed out to how the composer’s skills of the above named composers cold transform such insignificant musical theme-joke Tati-Tati into a brilliant and vibrant composition! This is the first part of composition with a full name: Borodin, Cui, Lyadov, Rimsky-Korsakov - PARAPHRASES on an Unchanged Theme Tati-Tati, 24 Variations with Finale and 9 Musical Pieces: Tarantella, Galop, Fugetta B-A-C-H, Waltz, Cortege, Lullaby, Marche Funebre, Requiem, Carillon, orchestrated by Arkady Leytush

C Instrument,Instrumental Solo,Piccolo,Synthesizer - Level 4 - SKU: A0.1212146 Composed by See description. Arranged by Tim Labor. 19th Century,Classical,Contemporary,Instructional,Opera. Individual part. 65 pages. Tim Labor #809664. Published by Tim Labor (A0.1212146). Patented in 1928 by Russian/Soviet television and surveillance researcher Leon Theremin, the instrument named for him is one of the world’s oldest electronic musical instruments. As a performer, the Thereminist pays some prices. They do not touch their instrument when playing, they cannot operate the device with people in range of the sensors (there are no Theremin sections in symphony orchestras), and compared to other instruments there are few teachers. Learning to play a Theremin is a lonely experience.Enter the public domain and the Digital Age, where increased online resources for listening to music on free streaming services and other platforms, form a special opportunity to jam.The Theremin Play-Along Book is a collection of twenty-eight imaginary parts for classical compositions that allow the Thereminist to solo along with existing recordings, integrate into a Western orchestral or chamber concert, or hone playing and listening skills by singing in an online shower. The volume includes selections from Puccini, Verdi, Faure, Debussy and even adaptations of Wagner's Liebestod and Rimsky-Korsakov's Flight of the Bumble Bee.

Children,Classical,Instructional,Romantic Period,Standards. Score and parts. 10 pages. Sharon Wilson #3243799. Published by Sharon Wilson (A0.565026). This Largo from Dvořák's New World Symphony is notated for 8-note (one octave, C major diatonic scale) instruments with Handbells on one staff and Boomwhackers® on a second staff creating an instrumental ensemble (requires one set of each instrument). Included in this set of scores is a 3-page combined score with both parts on a grand staff plus a separate 2-page, 1-staff score for each instrument. This set of scores uses black and white noteheads and is best suited for musicians already familiar with reading standard music notation. For beginning musicians, this same set of scores is available (sold separately) with color coded noteheads.Though this sheet music is notated for Handbells and Boomwhackers®, this arrangement is playable by any 8-note, C major diatonic scale (one octave) instrument such as a xylophone or glockenspiel.Notes used for each instrument are as follows: Bells – C D E G A BC* where C* is one octave above middle C  Boomwhackers® – all 8 ~ C D E F G A B C*The number of ringers and whackers needed will vary depending on the skill level of the participants. For more advanced players, each person could be assigned two notes for a total group size of 7 players. For beginners, it is best to assign one note to each person. At one note per person, a group of 15 players would be required. Note assignment suggestions are included.Other suggestions and uses:* have both parts played by bells or both parts played using only Boomwhackers®* form a choir using multiple sets of bells and/or Boomwhackers® (this would amplify the sound and allow more people to participate) * use as part of the music education for children at school, home, or church:* these colorful, inexpensive instruments can be enjoyed by all ages and add a fun, unique element to activities and programs: senior centers, family reunions, church retreats, home school groups, just to name a few:Permission is granted to make up to 10 copies of each score. For more than 10 copies, please purchase additional sets. This song is one of ten in the collection Ten Classical Favorites for 8-note Bells and Boomwhackers®. Alto Recorder,Bass Recorder,Soprano Recorder,Tenor Recorder - Level 2 - SKU: A0.1137832 Composed by Christian Petzold, Johann Sebastian Bach, and Martin Luther. Arranged by Ander. Baroque,Easter,Renaissance,Sacred,Wedding. Recorder Ensemble. 44 pages. Woods Only, Arrangements #738086. Published by Woods Only, Arrangements (A0.1137832). This album contains 5 of Johann Sebastian Bach's most famous and versatile pieces for recorder quartet, all very well suited for the beginners who want to get to know the baroque repertoire. They are also suitable for performances at events such as: weddings, Christian and church ceremonies, Easter, and academic recitals or concerts. They can be used in music institutions and by teachers as repertoire material and study methods, either for performance or instrumental technique. This collection includes a totally free bonus for you to enjoy: Martin Luther's A Mighty Fortress is Our God, a Renaissance sacred song for choir, which has been adapted for this set. 1: Air on the G String - The original piece is part of Johann Sebastian Bach's Suite No. 3 for orchestra, in D Major, BWV 1068, written for Prince Leopold of Anhalt. The so-called Air on the G String dates from one of these latter employments. In the service of the Prince of Cöthen, Bach composed not only the famous Brandenburg Concertos, but also several orchestral suites, from the third of which comes the Air on the G String. This curious title derives from a later arrangement of this piece for violin solo, in which the melody is played entirely on the lower, higher string of the instrument. 2: Arioso - The Cantata 156 (BWV 156) was written for the third Sunday after Epiphany in 1729, and was first performed on January 23 of that year. The text is by Picander, one of Bach's favorite librettists. Of the four cantatas written by Bach for the feast, it was the last and only one scored for solo voice. This is a choral cantata, employing a choral melody in several movements. Cantata 156, in fact, employs two different choral melodies and texts in the second and sixth movements. A cantata is a sung symphony consisting of several parts, one of which is the Arioso, which is the initial instrumental part. 3: Jesu, joy of man's desiring - This is one of Bach's most beautiful cantatas, made famous by the Jesus the Joy of Men chorus. It was originally composed for Advent 1716 in Weimar. Years later, already in Leipzig, Advent was tempus clausum, there was no music in the churches. Bach then reworked it for the Feast of Mary's Visitation. It is the final chorale of the cantata Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben. Although it is the 32nd cantata composed by Bach, of those that have survived, it was given BWV 147 in the complete catalog of his works. 4: O Jesulein süss, o Jesulein mild - The Jesulein süß, the Jesulein mild is an original traditional German choral melody for voice and continuous bass arranged by Johann Sebastian Bach around 1735. With lyrics by Valentin Thilo, O Jesulein süss is a sacred melody adapted and catalogued as BWV 493. The first translation is by Dirk van Hogendorp, who made it more of a song for the time of suffering. 5: Minuet in G major - This famous piece has traditionally been attributed to Johann Sebastian Bach, as it appears in the Notebook for Anna Magdalena , a notebook that Bach gave to his wife Anna Magdalena in 1725 and which was to be filled with the favorite selections of Bach family members. However, recent research has concluded that this minuet, sometimes referred to as BWV Anhang 114. was probably composed by Christian Petzold, a German composer and organist contemporary with Bach. Bonus: A Mighty Fortress is Our God, by Martin Luther - Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott is a hymn written by Martin Luther probably before 1529. The melody was also considered his work for a long time, but it was created at least with the collaboration of Johann Walter. The song is of great symbolic power for Protestantism, where it is also known as Deus noster refugium et virtus. Considered one of the most important hymns in the history of Christianity, it was considered by the Christian poet Johann Heirich Heine (1797-1856) to be the Marseillaise of the Reformation, in an allusion to the French national anthem.

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Trio Clarinet - Level 2 - SKU: A0.1138513 Composed by Christian Petzold, Johann Sebastian Bach, and Martin Luther. Arranged by Ander. Baroque,Easter,Renaissance,Sacred,Wedding. 38 pages. Woods Only, Arrangements #738853. Published by Woods Only, Arrangements (A0.1138513). This album contains 5 of Johann Sebastian Bach's most famous and versatile pieces for clarinet trio, all very well suited for the beginners who want to get to know the baroque repertoire.
