Waisenhaus Mass-Mozart had barely turned twelve when he composed and conducted his Missa solemnis in C minor K.139 to inaugurate a new orphanage on Vienna?s Rennweg in 1768.This astonishing early work adheres to the form of a Neapolitan cantata mass in which the separate movements (?Gloria? ?Credo? etc.) are themselves made up of self-contained choruses ariosos and ensembles. This frequently heard Mass is characterized by a sharp contrast between its cheerful underlying C major mood and gloomy dramatic passages in the minor mode.Urtext of the New Mozart EditionStraightforward piano part in the vocal scoreIdeal for church services andconcert performances Full score & performance material (BA4858) and vocal score (BA4858-90) available for saleArrangement for soloists choir & organ (BA7521) for sale

The Mass K.259 known as the Organ Solo Mass on account of an important organ passage in the Benedictus will have been written around 1775/76. On l7th May 1778 the Prince-Archbishop Colloredo consecrated his cousin Anton Theodor Count Colloredo-Mels und Wallsee Archbishop of Olmütz. The Prince of the Church had not commissioned a Mass for the consecration and had left the choice up to Leopold Mozart who assumed the office as Kapellmeister in that week. Leopold reported on this to his wife and son in Paris on 28th May 1778: 'l did the one of Wolfg [sic]: Mass with the organ solo: but the kyrie from the Spaur Mass; had it written and duly got the 6ducats.Urtext of the ?New Mozart Edition?Ideal for church services and concert performances Full score & performance material (BA4852) and vocal score (BA4852-90) for sale

Vecné evangelium / The Eternal Gospel Cantata for Solo Voices Mixed Chorus and Orchestra Leoš Janácek’s great oratorio “The Eternal Gospel” for soprano tenor mixed chorus and orchestra is based on a medieval legend in which an angel announces the coming of the Kingdom of Love on Earth to a Cistercian monk Joachim of Flora. Janácek set the text as a dramatic scene with two characters. The chorus unfolds as a contrasting foil to the two main figures until the final climax when the people sing “Alleluia” and receive the message of the brotherhood of all creation. The Eternal Gospel occupies aspecial place in Janácek’s œuvre. The dream-like atmosphere and emotional force of this twenty-minute cantata cast an unusually powerful spell. It originated during a time of turmoil: Janácek wrote it in spring 1914 on the eve of the First World War and the première took place in Prague in February 1917. In 1924 Janácek revised the cantata yet again for a festive performance on the occasion of his seventieth birthday. The vocal score has been prepared by Leoš Faltus one of the two editors of the volume for the Janácek Complete Edition (series B/volume 4). - Urtext Janacek Complete Edition - Full score (BA6860) and vocal score (BA6860-90) available for sale - Performance material (BA6860-72) available for hire

The autograph of the Missa brevis K.192 (186f) known as the Little Credo Mass (because of the Credo calls interspersed in the text of the third movement) is dated Salzburg 24 June 1774. This Mass intended for Sundays and minor feasts was in any case written for Salzburg Cathedral in the archives of which is preserved an authentic set of parts containing markings by Mozart and his father. When the master journeyed to Paris in 1777 he took the autograph of this work along with him leaving it with the canons of Heilig Geist Kloster in Augsburg to have parts copied out.According to Abert (who wrote a classic biography of Mozart) this work is considered 'by manyto be the high point of Mozart's 'youthful Masses'' and 'as far as the motivic unity of the individual movements and the strengthening of the contrapuntal element is concerned goes far beyond everything composed hitherto'.Urtext of the New Mozart EditionFull score performance material (BA4770) and vocal score (BA4770-90) available for sale.

The Mass K.262 (246a) is known as Missa longa. Leopold Mozart designated it so next to the incipit on the cover of the autograph collection of five masses in C major by his son. Mozart literature gives the year of origin as 1776 without mentioning the speculative nature of this claim. The monumentality of the Missa longa suggests that the work was written for a particularly solemn occasion. When scanning for outstanding ecclesiastical events in the 1770?s one cannot ignore the consecration of Ignaz Josef Count Spaur coadjutor and administrator of the diocese of Brixen as titular bishop of Chrysopel on 17 November 1776 in the Salzburg cathedral. Erich Schenk claimsthat Leopold Mozart?s mention of Wolfgang?s ?Spaur Mass? in a letter of 28 May 1778 was in reference to the consecration of Ignaz Josef Spaur an old friend of the Mozart family. Mozart?s work would then have to be seen as an homage of a truly personal nature. The Missa longa is the only setting of the Ordinary from this period which is appropriate to such a highly solemn event.Urtext of the ?New Mozart Edition? Cantata for the 4th Sunday of Advent-Bereitet die Wege bereitet die Bahn BWV 132Cantata for the 4th Sunday of Advent. The cantata Bereitet die Wege is one of the few works by Johann Sebastian Bach of which we know fairly well how it came into being. The autograph full score bears the date 1715; Bach therefore composed the piece for the church service given by the Weimar court orchestra (of which he was the concert master) on 22 December the fourth Sunday in Advent in the year 1715. We even know the author of the words: it was the High Ecclesiastical Secretary in Weimar Salomon Franck who wrote the poem especially for thatoccasion and had it printed in his annual cycle of cantata texts entitled Evangelisches Andachtsopfer.- Urtext of the New Bach Edition- Full score & performance material (BA10132) vocal score (BA10132-90) available for sale.

Baroque tradition remained alive in the music of Salzburg Cathedral into the first decades of the nineteenth century. This called for the inclusion of three trombones playing colla parte with the alto tenor and bass in the tuttis. Great Credo Mass-The Missa K.257 bears the non-authentic dating 1776 and was presumably composed at the end of 1776 or in the first half of 1777. Like K.262 (246a) it is designated in Leopold Mozart?s handwriting as a Missa longa on the cover page of an early composite manuscript containing the five masses in C major. K.257 is listed there as the last work. The designation ?Missa longa? was intended to point out that this was an extensive full-scale mass. Normally it would have been called a Missa solemnis but Mozart for unknown reasons did not make use of this customary nomenclature. The name ?Credo Mass? is taken from the acclamations of ?Credo? that constantly interrupt thelike-named movement. The Mass is remarkable for its density of invention within the narrowest of confines. Despite the pressures of his teaching position Franz Schubert created a particularly large number of works in the year 1815. Besides around 140 new Lieder he composed the second and third symphonies four stage works the first important compositions for piano the String Quartet in G minor (D 173) and two Masses: the Mass in G major (D 167) and the Mass in B-flat major the object of this edition. Considering that the Mass in F major (D 105) was written from May to July 1814 and the Mass in C major (D 452) during June and July 1816 we can see that Schubert composed four of the six complete Mass settings which have survived from his hand within the short span of twoyears. The Mass was presumably first performed in Lichtental shortly after its completion. The fact that some partly autographic parts the organ part three soprano and three alto parts were made around 1820 seems to point to a second performance. And from Schubert’s brother Ferdinand we know that the Mass was performed a third time at the parish church in Hainburg at the beginning of October 1824 since Ferdinand played the organ on that occasion. The Mass was first issued in 1837 as Opus 141 by the Viennese publisher Tobias Haslinger.Urtext of the New Schubert EditionFull score performance material (BA5621) and vocal score (BA5621-90) available for sale

Standard choral work with a manageable reduced orchestration.A stylistically appropriate as well as tried and tested arrangement.Compatible with Vocal score H 2924-90.Dvo ák?s Requiem for soloists choir and orchestra is one of the highlights within the international choral repertoire. Now Bärenreiter is presenting this work in an arrangement by Joachim Linckelmann with chamber Orchestra based on the full score from the Complete Edition of the Works by Anton n Dvo ák.The arrangement dispenses with all the brass instruments except for a single Horn; all that remains of the Percussion arethe Timpani; the Organ has also been taken out. The cor anglais and Bass Clarinet parts can be replaced by an Oboe and Clarinet (ossia staves in score and parts). This arrangement which judiciously reduces the richness of Dvo ák?s original orchestration makes the work available to a broader range of performers outside professional circles.
