Ib Nørholm: 'For år tilbage udskrev folkehøjskolens sangbog en konkurrence om nye sange i forbindelse med en ny udgave. I den anledning blev Poul Borum grebet af en folkelig poetisk raptus og skrev - strofisk, rytmisk og rimet! Resultatet sendte han til mig, der udvalgte seks digte, som jeg forsynede med melodier. De foreligger så her.'

Pelle Gudmundsen-Holmgreen: 'Hvis man skal gøre sig håb om at deltage i en eller anden form for bredere, folkelig, dansksangskrivning er der kun én vej: At efterligne det velkendte. Det er ikke ligefrem den slags formuleringer, der er allermest værdsat blandt 'moderne' komponister. Ib er veteran på området - og jeg gør nu et lille spagt forsøg. <br />Det begynder nogenlunde fornuftigt med 'Forårsnat' af Tove Ditlevsen og går derefter jævnt ned ad bakke. Min sidste sang 'Det på billeder' kan vel næppe kaldes en sang overhovedet, er snarere en indædt deklamation af Jess Ørnboes digt (der heller ikke just klinger af Dansk Guldalder). Men selve denne gradvise nedtoning af det sangbare er for mig en pointe, som afspejler udviklingen i poesien - og det danske sprog. Kun ENKELHEDEN består.'
