Cette deuxième série de Danceries continue le format établi en Danceries (Set I), à savoir l'utilisation de matériel provenant Maître à danser Playford, une collection de folk et de mélodies populaires publiés dans le XVIIe siècle, pour former la base d'une suite de danses prolongée. Dans cet ensemble, les mélodies ont été plus abstraite et seul projet un écho lointain de leurs formes d'origine, mais comme avant, chaque mouvement est autonome, colorée et directe, avec son ambiance distincte. Les mouvements extérieurs - Bawbee Jennie et Galliarda Peascod de - partagent une utilisation de la conduite de percussion par écrit avec un air militaire. Toye Tom Tinker et facilité coeur (mouvements deux et trois) sont les deux paramètres de mélodies originales. Tous les mouvements sont plus étendus que dans le premier set, avec une utilisation plus libre et l'approche de la matière- mélodies se produisent maintenant dans différentes touches et sont soutenus par une grande variété de couleurs harmoniques. Flexible Woodwind Ensembl-This suite of folk songs is scored for woodwind quartet and a single unpitched drum. Although the nominal scoring is for flute two clarinets and bassoon the piece has considerable inbuilt flexibility of scoring. The options for instruments on each part are as follows: Part 1: Flute oboe or soprano saxophone Part 2: Bb Clarinet or alto saxophone Part 3: Bb clarinet alto saxophone or tenor saxophone Part 4: Bassoon bass clarinet or baritone saxophoneThe piece may be played by any combination of these instruments. Where necessary some passages have been transposed down an octave in the soprano alto and tenor saxophone parts.Where this occurs the lower pitch is also included in the score. There are also a few notes in the bass clarinet part of the March which have been taken up the octave through necessity; similarly this is indicated in the score.The drum should be unsnared and of medium low pitch. A bodhran tenor drum low tom-tom or floor tom are suggested although in the end it is up to the performer!The folk songs used in the piece are not particularly well known these days. 'Gan to the Kye' is an example of the rich culture of traditional music from Northumbria. The title means 'Go to the cows' and is a love song in which the herdsman asks his lover (in a gesture possibly lacking somewhat in romance) to accompany him whilst he tends his herd of cattle.The second movement is a setting of 'Rosemary Lane' a beautiful Somerset song. It tells of a serving girl ill-used by a sailor; as so often in traditional music the beauty of the tune is quite at odds with the unpleasant circumstances related.'Gently Johnny' is a good-humoured song in which the enthusiastic suitor is teased by the object of his affections: he is asked to cool his ardour whilst at the same time being left in no doubt that his attentions may be as bold as he wishes! The middle section uses another song this time from Middlesex called 'Jack Williams'.

Mixed Bag No. 21-Mixed Bag. This highly acclaimed series provides a real opportunity for woodwind players of mixed ability to play together. It will work with as few or as many players as you like! Each arrangement will work with just three orfour main parts. Part 1 is quite demanding but Parts 2 & 3 are easier. These parts can be played by just one or several players - it’s up to you! Optional ‘filler’ parts are also included for beginners. These have very simplerhythms and notes (clarinet parts are all below the break) allowing young players to gain experience in ensemble playing. Mixed Bag gives you a score and double set of parts. Titles include arrangements of classical romantic modern and folk tunes. Mixed Bag - the answer for woodwind groups of mixed instrumentation mixed ability and mixed tastes.

Commissioned in 1994 by the Royal Air Force 'Scramble!' is a concert overture for symphonic wind band inspired by images of the RAF's airfields during the Battle of Britain immortalised for ever in such films as 'Reach for the Sky'. The pastoral opening depicts the lull before the storm: the young pilots sitting in wicker chairs outside their barracks on a sunlit morning. The peace is of course deceptive suddenly amid siren sounds there is a shout of 'Scramble!' and a rush to the waiting planes. In no time at all the squadron is airborne heading for a skirmish over the English Channel and beyond. A lyrical central section featuring a solo cornet depicts the stillness manypilots described as they flew to engage the enemy before the battle breaks out once more. For those who returned it would be only a short while before once again they would hear the familiar shout of 'Scramble!'

African Dances is a continuous work for solo clarinet and wind ensemble consisting of five individual sections. The basis for the piece is the clarinet's construction from the wood of the African blackwood tree and its subsequent development into the instrument we know today. Each movement draws on different aspects of Pan-African music ranging from the styles and forms of the African choral tradition through to the complex cross-rhythms and patterns that characterise so much of the music of Africa.

from the Symphonic Poem \'Psyché\'. Par FRANCK CESAR. César Franck est un compositeur, pianiste, organiste et professeur de musique. Amour et Psychéest le sixième et dernier poème symphonique du compositeur et fut achevé en 1887. La première eut lieu à Paris en 1888 et fut un grand succès, mais la pièce tomba plus tard complètement dans l\'oubli et ce ne fut que grâce à un minutieux travail de recherche si elle a été reprogrammée dans les salles de concert. L?amour complexe entre Psyché et Cupidon est une histoire originale tirée des Métamorphoses, écrite au IIe siècle après J.C. par Apulée. Le récit raconte les obstacles à surmonter dans l\'amour et leur union finale. Le poème symphonique est divisé en trois parties et implique la présence d\'un ch?ur. Le mouvement qui fait l\'objet de cet arrangement, Psyché et Érosse trouve à la fin de la deuxième partie. La version pour orchestre à vent de Franco Cesarini est particulièrement soignée dans les nuances des couleurs instrumentales et représente un véritable test visant à démontrer la musicalité et les capacités d\'interprétation des orchestres et leurs chefs. / Date parution : 2022-07-23/ Répertoire / Orchestre de Vents

Lyons has performed with Orchestras and ensembles throughout the world both in live performance and on broadcasts and recordings. Hehas written a book on Soviet international policy. If you or your students began your clarinet career on a Clarineo a scaled-down instrument appropriate for younger students then you have Lyons to thank as he is its inventor.

Divertimenti for Wind Sextet-W. A. Mozart's Divertimenti For Wind Sextet. Mozart composed the five Divertimenti between the years 1775 and 1777 when he was living in Salzburg. The Italian title isreminiscent of simple ?light? music but the pieces? melodic ingenuity and colourful writing for Winds show it to be chamber music of the highest quality.This Henle Urtext edition is based on the autograph and bringstogether all five authentic sextets in one practical edition. An ensemble with the standard instrumentation (two Oboes two Horns and two Bassoons) will discover a true musical treasure. The two Horn parts are provided both in theoriginal transpositions (F/Bb/Eb) and also for Horn in F.

Firefly was composed by award-winning composer Simon Dobson (b.1981) to provide an entertaining up-tempoconcert work for community and youth bands. Composed in funk-rock style and is based on the groove beat with which it opens. Dobson says “Firefly was written as a break from my more serious music and as a ‘hat tip’ to the various types of beat orientated music I listen to.” It was first performed by Oslofjord Brass in Norway and in its wind version by Harmonie Shostakovich Switzerland.
