Ce n'est pas une méthode d'apprentissage, mais une série de 'vignettes', dans lesquelles on pourra choisir un morceau pour une audition, un examen... ou juste pour le plaisir. Au fil des morceaux apparaissent çà et là des éléments particuliers du langage musical, certains communs à nombre d?instruments, d?autres plus spécifiques à la clarinette. Par exemple, et dès la première page, on trouvera des appoggiatures brèves, et aussi une portée sans indication de mesure... Plus loin une note piquée, une syncope, puis deux... Ces petites découvertes sont distillées une par une, 'tranquillamente', couche après couche, et elles sont là non pas comme un simple prétexte d'exercice, mais parce qu'elles sont nécessaires à la musique. Les animaux proposent souvent leur rythme, leur chant, leur activité frénétique ou lente ; il y a leur milieu (l'eau, l'air qui ondulent...), leur localisation (l'Orient, l'Afrique et leurs parfums...); autant de pistes que j'ai pu suivre comme sources d'inspiration. Tout ce petit monde, tous ces petits mondes organisent le temps, le remplissent et le vident. Et organiser le temps, ne serait-ce pas ça, la musique ? Nous sommes principalement des tubes où passent des aliments, avec quelques appendices autour pour organiser la collecte desdits aliments. Mastering the Middle Register of the Clarinet. Crossing the break can be a source of frustration for developing clarinetists. The Break is a logical guide for mastering this important step in clarinet performance. The method is divided into two parts: Part I contents: the clarinet overtone series - how new note names attach to previously learned fingerings - how to incorporate 'right hand down' as a developmental technique - one octave scales across the break - first melodies in the clarion register that teach basic musical concepts needed for advanced performance. Part II contents: studies from Rhythmical Articulation by Pasquale Bona, selected and edited for clarinet to prepare students for upper level performance.Rhythmical Articulation was originally written to assist singers with rhythmical and pitch accuracy. Range: The range is appropriate for developing clarinetists (low B to B just above the treble staff). Third-line B natural is often referred to as the break because it is the note where the register key is added to produce the middle register. These studies and exercises center around third-line B natural and provide a means to develop smooth connections between the lower and middle registers of the clarinet. Technique: The studies have been adapted for clarinet to cover nine key signatures. Appropriate articulations, dynamics, and expressive markings have been added to reflect common practice in the classical style. Advanced rhythms and time signatures are introduced with moderate tempos. Musical terms have been added to identify phrases and suggest expression. First performance on 22nd March 2005 as part of the XLIV Cuenca Religious Music Week by Joan Enric Lluna (clarinet) Patricia Rozario(soprano) and the Madrid Community Orchestra conducted by the composer. The composer writes: Cantus Mysticus sets a text by Goethe concerned with the Eternal Feminine: Das ewig Weibliche sichuns hinan (TheEternal Woman draws us upwards). Many of my recent works have been concerned with meditation on the Creative Feminine which according to esoteric metaphysics reveals the 'child of the soul' and thus God. The slow contemplativeand very intense opening of Cantus Mysticus leads gradually towards a 'still centre' with much use of 'silence'. This is followed by an ecstatic celebration of the Divine Feminine the Virgine Madre of Dante and Christianity theMaha Maya of Hinduism and Maha Prajavati of Buddhism. The Jazz-style passages for clarinet express Lîla or Divine Play. Cantus Mysticus is scored for B flat clarinet soprano and strings (violins and cellos only).
