Harpsichord SKU: HL.48188417 Composed by Domenico Scarlatti. Edited by Kenneth Gilbert. Heugel. Baroque. Softcover. 200 pages. Heugel & Cie #HE32522. Published by Heugel & Cie (HL.48188417). UPC: 888680866266. 9.0x12.0x0.53 inches. “Italian composer, Domenico Scarlatti (1685-1757) is well-known for his Keyboard compositions. His 555 Keyboard Sonatas remain ever popular to this day, and it is for this reason that this second volume is indispensable to performers of the genre. Originally composed for the Harpsichord, Organ or early Pianoforte, the Sonatas display the riveting use of discords and unconventional modulations to remote keys. It is also thought that much of Scarlatti's Keyboard music contains influences of Iberian music, considering that he spent much of his working life in the service of the Spanish and Portuguese royal families. The second volume, comprising Sonatas 53-103, includes the popular and recognised Sonatas in F minor (K. 69) and B minor (K. 87). Bearing in mind that Domenico Scarlatti was a highly competent and popular Keyboard player in his day, so much so that he was employed in the service of two royal families, his Sonatas are composed with much experience, understanding and expertise, creating an essential addition to the repertoire of all Keyboard players of the Baroque genre. â€. $25.80 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 24 hours - In Stock

| Intavolatura de Cimbalo (Napoli 1576) Harpsichord Ut Orpheus
Harpsichord; Early Music SKU: UT.HS-307 Composed by Antonio Valente. Edit...(+)
Harpsichord; Early Music SKU: UT.HS-307 Composed by Antonio Valente. Edited by Maria Luisa Baldassari. Paperback (Soft Cover). Classical. Ut Orpheus #HS 307. Published by Ut Orpheus (UT.HS-307). ISBN 9790215327146. 9 x 12 inches. Antonio Valente blind, Neapolitan since a long time according to the list of Neapolitan musicians by Scipione Cerreto and organist in S. Angelo a Nilo in Naples, is known in modern times for his two volumes of keyboard music: Versi spirituali published in 1580 and, some years before, the volume here in transcription, Intavolatura de cimbalo, printed by Giuseppe Cacchio in 1576. This volume has many original features: first keyboard tablature ever printed in Naples, itâ??s not written in musical characters but in a number-based system never met, according to the current studies, in any other print or manuscript both in and outside Italy. The dedication letter, written by Fraâ?? Alberto Mazza, praises Valente as the inventor of this writing method, so easy and effective that everybody, even uncouth youths that did not know music and keyboard, could attain the result of playing from it in two months. The Intavolatura presents different genres of music: a fantasia, six ricercatas, a Salve Regina on a cantus firmus, four vocal chansons intabulated for keyboard with more or less diminutions, and nine dances, variations and dance/variations on long-living tenors like Romanesca or Zefiro. There are no liturgical compositions, both because unsuitable in a collection for amateurs and because Valente will publish a new book of sacred music in a few years. The book is a sort of compendium of the keyboard genres of the period, similar to some older Spanish publications and to the later Neapolitan ones by Trabaci and Majone. Other contemporary volumes on the contrary choose to present a single type of composition: this is the case of the Versetti by Valente and the Ricercate by Rocco Rodio. $36.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 3 to 4 weeks

talian composer, Domenico Scarlatti (1685-1757) is well-known for his Keyboard compositions. His 555 Keyboard Sonatas remain ever popular to this day, and it is for this reason that this second volume is indispensable toperformers of the genre. Originally composed for the Harpsichord, Organ or early Pianoforte, the Sonatas display the riveting use of discords and unconventional modulations to remote keys. It is also thought that much ofScarlatti\'s Keyboard music contains influences of Iberian music, considering that he spent much of his working life in the service of the Spanish and Portuguese royal families. The second volume, comprising Sonatas 53-103,includes the popular and recognised Sonatas in F minor (K. 69) and B minor (K. 87). Bearing in mind that Domenico Scarlatti was a highly competent and popular Keyboard player in his day, so much so that he was employed in theservice of two royal families, his Sonatas are composed with much experience, understanding and expertise, creating an essential addition to the repertoire of all Keyboard players of the Baroque genre. / Partitions classique / Piano - instruments à clavier / Clavecin / HEUGEL

The remarkable results of this undertaking are the concertos for harpsichord. Today it is almost certain that practically all of these concertos were transcribed from concertos for melody instruments (mostly violin or oboe). The Concerto in F major BWV 1052 is the sixth of the harpsichord concertos contained in the autograph score that Bach wrote out in or around 1738 (Berlin Staatsbibliothek Mus. ms. Bach P 234). The initials at the end of the piece SDGl ('Soli Deo Gloria') form a pendant to the J.J. ('Jesus Juva') found at theopening of the D-minor Concerto BWV 1052. This indicates that BVW 1057 formed the final piece in this six-work opus the only authentic and self-contained collection of concertos we have from Bach apart from his presentation copy of the Brandenburg Concertos (1721). Like all the other concertos in this series BWV 1057 is an arrangement of an earlier work in this case the Fourth Brandenburg Concerto in G major (BWV 1049).Urtext of the New Bach EditionFull score & parts (BA5229) two-keyboard reduction (BA5229-90) and study score (TP410) format 22.5 x 16.5cm (all 6 concertos) available for sale

The remarkable results of this undertaking are the concertos for harpsichord. Today it is almost certain that practically all of these concertos were transcribed from concertos for melody instruments (mostly violin or oboe). The Concerto for Harpsichord and Strings in G minor BWV 1058 is the last complete work in the original autograph score of harpsichord concertos that Bach wrote out in or around 1738 (Berlin Staatsbibliothek Mus. Ms. Bach 234). However it only came to occupy this position later when the manuscript wasbound. It stands at the very outset of the genesis of this group of works and marks the earliest stage in Bach’s efforts to transform concertos for melody instrument and strings into harpsichord concertos. In this case the original model the Concerto for Violin and Strings in A minor (BWV 1041) has survived thereby allowing us to examine Bach’s technique of arrangement in detail.- Urtext of the New Bach Edition- Full score & parts (BA5230) two-keyboard reduction (BA5230-90) and study score (TP410) format 22.5 x 16.5cm (all 6 concertos) available for sale

Bach had alreadyreworked the original concerto in two church cantatas in the autumn of 1726 (BWV 49 and BWV 169) at which time he assigned the solo part to the organ. Canaanite Fantasy No. 3. Par LEEF YINAM. Similiar to its two sister-works, ELEGY looks back to the past and to ancient musical colors and ideals, combining musical ornamentations of nature within contemporary Western modes of expression. The composer accounts that 'the most interesting and attractive challenge for me was to try to relate to the special characteristics of the harpsichord - its rather confined range of dynamics on the one hand, and the great richness of the single tone on the other - and to attempt to formulate a contemporary view towards the historical and stylistic connotations of this instrument. The work combines some typical music structures, such as repetitions and sequential patterns, within ageneral improvisatory feeling, and leads, as the climax resolves, to a short quation from J.S. Bach's 'The Art of Fugue', which gradually disintegrates into the central motif of the work. The title ELEGY invokes a looking backwards, with a sense of longing and maybe even sadness, to a world of sounds that has perhaps lost its glitter, to a past era, but not without a certain hope for its renewal.'/ Répertoire / Clavecin

D major BWV 1054-In early 1729 Bach became director of the so-called »Scottish Collegium Musician« a music organization of students and local citizens. The remarkable results of this undertaking are the concertos for harpsichord. Today it is almost certain that practically all of these concertos were transcribed from concertos for melody instruments (mostly violin or oboe). The D-major Concerto BWV 1054 originated as a transcription of Bach’s Violin Concerto in E major BWV 1042. The principal source for our edition is the autograph score of Bach’s harpsichord concertos preserved in the Berlin Staatsbibliothek (Mus. ms. Bach P 234) where BWV 1054 forms the third item. Toaccommodate the upper limit of the harpsichord keyboard Bach decided to transpose the piece down a whole tone which allowed him to retain the frequently occurring peak pitch e3 without altering the melodic line. The D-major Concerto owes its popularity to the clear and straightforward formal design of its movements no less than its overall mood of relaxed merriment. This mood also finds expression in Bach’s choice of the rondo form for the final movement a form otherwise seldom encountered in his concertos.Urtext of the New Bach EditionFull score & parts (BA5226) two-keyboard reduction (BA5226-90) and study score (TP410) format 22.5 x 16.5cm (all 6 concertos) available for sale

Version 2010-“Books talk to each other” - Umberto Eco’s statement could just as easily apply to music as Les Citations for Oboe Harpsichord Double Bass and Percussion by Henri Dutilleux (1916-2013) brilliantly proves. Written in 1991 the score was reworked by the composer for the Festival d’Auvers-sur-Oise where the new version premiered in June 2010. The origin of this work goes back to For Aldeburgh 85. Written for the 75th birthday of singer Peter Pears the piece takes up a fragment of Peter Grimes whose leading role had been written by Britten for the beloved tenor. Dutilleux adds a page titled FromJanequin to Jehan Alain in which appears a song from the Renaissance composer “L’espoir que j’ay d’acquerir vostre grace” used by J. Alain in his Variations for Organ on a theme by Clément Janequin. The junction between the two parties is made through an Interlude that introduces the “wolf’s moan” theme from the ballet Le Loup (The Wolf) composed by Dutilleux in 1953 for the troupe of Roland Petit. This subtle tangle of quotations forms a shimmering and sensual work where the uniqueness of an authentic artist powerfully asserts itself.
