Noël Lee (américain né à Nankin, Chine, le 25 décembre 1924) a composé Mosaïques, sa seule oeuvre pour orgue, en 1989. Commande de Pierre Lacroix, c'est Yves Castagnet qui la créa au Festival de Saint-Bertrand-de-Comminges le 9 juillet 1989. Cette oeuvre dodécaphonique et néo-classique virtuose développe des rythmes, des sonorités et des thèmes extrêmement variés. En 1997, Noël Lee l'a trans- crit pour deux pianos et percussion. The idea for this book series is to give instrumentalists the opportunity to practice solo improvisational techniques while playing along to rhythm tracks of keyboards guitar bass drums/percussion in various different Latin styles including Calypso Mambo Salsa Songo Bossa Guaracha Samba and Latin-Blues. The 24 grooves totalling over 200 riffs/phrases and play-a-long tracks consists of a variety of tempos and keys. Each groove has a variety of riffs to learn that are generally 4 or 8 measures in length. It would be beneficial if you could memorize these riffs so that you can experiment using different permutations of the riffs as well as being used as a starting offpoint for one's own improvisations. Each riff has been recorded with a rhythm track with each style having an extended play-a-long track around 3 minutes in length recorded without the solo part so you can practice the riffs that you have learned. Also these musical phrases or riffs may be interchanged from one groove to another and should be learned in as many keys as possible.

This work was commissioned by St Dunstan's College South-East London for the celebration of its centenary in 1988. It is an anthem and uses a setting of Psalm 100. The work has three main sections (fast-slow-fast) and is essentially jubilant in nature. After a brief instrumental introduction the choir enters using as its text the first two verses of the Psalm. This reaches a climax on the word singing after which the music subsides into the serene key of C major for female voices only to sing a reflective tune on the words Know ye surrounded by various counter melodies on solo horn and trumpet. Male voices then take over this tune (inverted) and the final comment isleft to unaccompanied choir leaving sopranos on a held low D. At this point the last section begins. The mood is set by Organ and Percussion the style takes off its hat to minimalism with multi-layered textures underpinning the choral unison on the word Enter. Eventually the tonality heads towards G major and a reprise of the opening music with a coda full of energetic exuberance.
