Soli SATB, Coro SATB, Org, Org ripieno SKU: CA.2706045 Arrangement for soli, choir and 1-2 organs. Composed by Camille Saint-Saens. Edited by Leon Roques. Arranged by Leon Roques. Carus sheet music series: Great choral works in small scorings. Arrangement for choir and 1-2 organs. Sacred vocal music, Masses, Latin. Full score. Composed 1856. Op. 4. 72 pages. Duration 45 minutes. Carus Verlag #CV 27.060/45. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.2706045). ISBN 9790007241018. Language: Latin. Among the sacred works by Saint-Saens there are just two settings of the mass: the Messe de Requiem op. 54 from his middle period (1878), and the Mass op. 4 dating from 1856. This was first performed on 21 April 1857. As an alternative to the original version with large orchestra and Grand Orgue, Carus-Verlag is now publishing the version for organ made by Saint-Saens's contemporary Leon Roques. It contains the original part for grand orgue as well as an organ arrangement of the orchestral writing in score notation, but also provides for the possibility of a performance with just one instrument. The vocal parts (for soloists and choir) are identical with the edition of the original version, so that the vocal score and chorus score of that version can be used. Stuttgart Urtext Edition: Schubert. Harmony parts. Sacred vocal music, Lent and Passiontide, Holy Week, Feasts of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Hymns in praise of the Virgin Mary. Set of Orchestra Parts. D 383. Duration 37 minutes. Carus Verlag #CV 70.065/09. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.7006509). ISBN 9790007244729. Language: German. In spring 1816 Franz Schubert, just nineteen years old, completed his second setting of the Stabat Mater in the midst of a highly productive period. In contrast with his first setting written the previous year, just five minutes in length, this time Schubert used the German translation by Klopstock as the basis for his composition. Stefan Schuck's edition is the first one of this work to be based on a critical evaluation of the primary sources, with complete performance material. The work, in a dark F minor, with its text by Klopstock, places Jesus Christ, rather than Mary, at the center of the contemplation. With his fugues, but particularly in the eight-part lamenting chorus Wer wird Zahren sanften Mitleids, Schubert shows himself at the height of his creative output. He composed his 4th Symphony, the Tragic, at almost the same time. The Stabat Mater is a rewarding work for choral societies and choirs to perform, because the choir has the largest portion to sing, and the choral parts are not too demanding. The composition is also a beautiful introduction to the choral-symphonic music of Schubert for less experienced choirs. Score and parts available separately - see item CA.7006500. $82.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

SATB vocal soli, SATB choir, 2 oboe d'amore, 2 violins, viola, basso continuo SKU: CA.3116809 Cantata for the 9th Sunday after Trinity. Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Edited by Ulrich Bartels. 2x 31.168/21 oboe d'amore 1 + 2. Stuttgart Urtext Edition: Bach vocal. Tue Rechnung, Donnerwort. Sacred vocal music, Cantatas, Trinity. Set of Orchestra Parts. Composed 1725. BWV 168. Duration 17 minutes. Carus Verlag #CV 31.168/09. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.3116809). ISBN 9790007209254. Language: German/English. Text: Franck, Salomo. The text of Bach's cantata Tue Rechnung! Donnerwort was published in 1715, that is during Bach's Weimar period, in the Evangelisches Andachts-Opffer by Salomon Frank. This concisely-written but powerful work was, however, only composed ten years later in Leipzig, and was heard for the first time on 29 July 1725, the 9th Sunday after Trinity. Its main dramatic-musical emphasis lies clearly in the first movement, a dark, almost operatic movement for baritone and string orchestra in B minor. By contrast, the ensuing aria for tenor with obbligato oboe accompaniment is distinctly more intimate, and the duet between soprano and alto - just accompanied by continuo - is more restrained in its musical language and expression than the first movement. In between there are two extended recitatives, the first of which leads into an arioso. The breadth of expression within the cantata is striking, its opening movement a masterpiece of Bach's dramatic writing. Composed by Jean-Philippe Rameau. Edited by Sylvie Bouissou. This edition: complete edition, urtext edition. Linen. Jean-Philippe Rameau. Opera Omnia (OOR) IV/2+7. Version 1736. Complete edition, Score. RCT 44. Baerenreiter Verlag #BA08860_01. Published by Baerenreiter Verlag (BA.BA08860-01). ISBN 9790006558131. 33.5 x 25.5 cm inches. Text Language: French. Preface: Sylvie Bouissou. Text: Louis Fuzelier. The main body of the new edition of Les Indes galantes, published in Opera Omnia Rameau (OOR IV.2, 7), restores the version authorised by Rameau in 1736. This basic editorial decision has made it possible to present a fully coherent and authenticated reading of the work (after the adjustments from the earliest performances). All other versions before and after 1736 are gathered together in 19 complements.
Sylvie Bouissou's new edition differs markedly from previous modern editions and all existing recordings. With its complements she does justice to the performer's need for Rameau's various revisions while finally making accessible a version actually authorised by Rameau. For the first time it is presented in its complete stylistic and dramatic context.

Carus digital: Extra digital products. Full Score. Composed 1852. Op. 147. Duration 40 minutes. Carus Verlag #4068700. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.4068700). ISBN 9790007239701. Key: C minor. Latin. A mass setting by Robert Schumann? This is still likely to cause surprise among audiences â?? after all, Schumann is not generally viewed as a sacred composer. Indeed, his little-known late work, the Missa sacra, Op. 147, is a discovery not just for listeners but often for the performers themselves. The mass combines an acute fascination with sacred liturgy typical of Schumannâ??s time with the pragmatism of its intended use by a local choral society. The composer employs his considerable skills to create a captivating and varied score that is almost ethereal in the Kyrie, leading to passages of an intimate and lyrical piano that alternate with fortissimo for words of praise, while always displaying the utmost sensitivity and a delight in dissonance. The composer declared his setting to be â??fashioned with great loveâ?. The demanding orchestral mass can be realized with limited means. The solo parts can be filled from the choir. The work, which the composer himself did not have published, is here reissued on the basis of Schumannâ??s partial autograph score. Carus has also produced an arrangement of the work for choir and organ, enabling performances without orchestra in smaller venues (Carus 40.687/45). $85.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

Language: German/English. Bach composed the cantata Stay with us, for it draws on toward evening BWV 6 for Easter Monday 1725. In fact, it is certain that a chorale cantata had been planned for that feast day, but for some unknown reason, the annual cycle of chorale cantatas broke off just before Easter 1725. For BWV 6, Bach fell back on a text by an author whose texts he had already set numerous times in his first Leipzig annual cycle of cantatas (which are conspicuous by their ever constant structure and use of two chorale settings). From the gospel for Easter Monday, the story of the Emmaus disciples, only the disappearing daylight and the fear of being left alone are made the subject of discussion. A truly magnificent choral movement opens the cantata. The first chorale for soprano and violoncello piccolo, which Bach later included in his Schubler-Chorale, is also well-known outside of the cantata. Yet it is a self-contained and for its time distinctly modernpiece of sacred music.Beethoven specialist Barry Cooper has drawn on a rich body of sources to suggests practical solutions to the work’s musical and interpretative problems. His in-depth study of the sources convinced him to include a fully realised Organ part in the score just as Beethoven envisioned it for the first printed edition. These four works with their orchestral accompaniments thus represent something akin to a new genre in English church music. The four anthems are presented in clearly laid out vocal scores with straightforward piano reductions based on the Urtext from the Halle Handel Edition. Their enticingly varied and self-sufficient orchestral writing provides a suitable framework for the festive chorus and equally festive solo numbers. Today they sound as splendid as ever! The full scores and vocal scores also contain a German translation along with the original English text.

Mass in Time of War-Haydn was in England in 1795 when he received word from his new Prince Nicolaus II Esterházy that the Esterházy orchestra was to be reformed and Haydn was to serve again as active Capellmeister.Prince Nicolaus II demanded little from his Capellmeister except the usual routine of administration; but Haydn was to compose every year a new Mass for the name day of the Princess Josepha Maria which was celebrated the Sunday afterwards in the Bergkirche at Eisenstadt. It is known that a new Haydn mass was performed before a packed congregation in the Piaristenkirche in Vienna on St. Stephen?s Day (26 December) 1796. The writer of these notes examined when preparingthis edition the music archives of the church and found contemporary parts on the Missa in tempore belli in the church; and it seems certain that this (and not the Heiligmesse) was the work performed on that occasion and thus also the work which Haydn had just finished and performed in Eisenstadt.Urtext from Joseph Haydn WerkeFull score parts (BA4652) vocal score (BA4652-90) and study score format 22.5 x 16.5cm (TP94) available for sale

Der Friede sei mit dir BWV 158Cantata for Easter TuesdayThe cantata Der Friede sei mit dir is one of those works of Bach’s which present the most problems. Neither the author of the text nor the history of the work’s composition is known to us; and to judge by appearances the version that has come down to us is but a fragment compounded of a number of once disparate elements and gives little indication of the work’s original form.Yet the movements that have come down to us are of such uncommon musical interest that we would not want to be deprived of them just because they may be incomplete. The modesty of its requirements is at least in partresponsible for the comparatively wide popularity enjoyed by this cantata.- Urtext of the New Bach Edition- Full score & performance material (BA10158) vocal score (BA10158-90) available for sale

Saint-Saëns's Christmas Oratorio (or Oratorio de Noël) was written in 1858 when he was just 23. This piece was originally scored for five Vocal Soloists Chorus Harp String Quartet and Organ; this the vocal score contains a piano reduction. The Christmas Oratorio opens with a Prelude subtitled 'In the style of Sebastian Bach' harkening back to Bach's Christmas Oratorio. This opening prelude sets the scene for the Christmas story: its lilting pastoral quality creates images of the shepherds tending their flocks in the fields. In the remaining movements the vocal soloists take turns representing different characters such as the narrator ofthe story or as the angel who announces the birth of the baby Jesus while the chorus represents a multitude of angels singing to the glory of the Lord. The final movement of the piece which follows the model of old French Christmas songs is a virtual hymn of praise of all creation in the presence of God.The English version of the text is by N.H. Dole.

Par GLUCK CHRISTOPH WILLIBALD. Gluck Iphigénie en Aulide (Vocal Score) Tragedy - Opera in three acts Iphigénie en Aulide is the first of six operas that Gluck composed for the Académie Royale de Musique. In keeping with his plans for operatic reform, he sought to create noble, expressive and natural melodies that did justice to every language and every national spirit while eliminating the “ridiculous distinction” between national styles of music. Although the première was coolly received at first by the contemporary press, “Iphigénie” developed into a tremendous success. The onrush of listeners was said to have been so great that the management of the Paris Opéra considered placing guards in front of the theatre. Now Bärenreiter is issuing the carefully revised and corrected vocal score in a new engraving adapted to meet their current standards. - Revised and newly engraved - Detailed foreword (Ger/Fr/Eng) on the work’s genesis and reception history, together with a summary of the plot - Practical, straight-forward piano reduction - Performance material available for hire (BA5849-72) / Date parution : 2022-07-20/ Répertoire / Solistes, Choeur et Orchestre

The work was premiered by the Berlin Cathedral Choir on 1 January 1844. As Mendelssohn neither released the work for publication nor produced a vocal score his psalm setting did not appear in print until after his death. For this edition the authoritative Mendelssohn specialist John Michael Cooper drew primarily on the autograph score with its many subsequent corrections and amendments. In this way it differs from many other editions which tend to treat the autograph as a subordinate source. Rounding off the edition are an informative Foreword and a detailed Critical Commentary. The Piano reduction is based on the first printed edition which was published by F. Kistner and Evers & Co. in 1851.
