The first piece “Sicut ros Hermon†(Psalm 133) meditates on the path God’s mercy takes, whereby the initial slow descending harmonic sequences develop into an emphatic song followed by a tender chorale-like coda. “Si sumpsero pennas aurorae†(Psalm 139) relates to a highly poetic, consolatory but also admonishing image of the psalm: As far as our wings may carry us, God’s hand will take hold of us. We cannot escape his mercy or his judgement. At the end of this striking movement the music conveys almost haptic moments; one can sense the mighty ‘hand’ by means of the tutti sound. Finally the music becomes as calm as at the start of this piece, though dialogue-like figurations convey repercussions of what was experienced and acknowledged.

?Jehan Alain (1911-1940) was a French organist and composer. His Litanies for Organ was composed in 1937 and is a sublime addition to the instrument's repertoire. Alain studied with Organ virtuosos, Guilmant and Vierne and was primarily an organist and composer of religious music. Whilst at the Paris Conservatoire, he won many prizes and his composition catalogue comprises some 140 works. Three Sound-Poems after Paintings by Andreas Willscher (2017) are dedicated to organist Philip Hartmann and the art-loving community of the Pauluskirche in Ulm, Germany. The music is inspired by three paintings by German composer (and artist) Andreas Willscher (b. 1955). The pieces take their musical shapes and colors from the specific details of the paintings. The three paintings represent different styles: a landscape, a religious theme, and an abstract. The first movement, Sonnenfeld (Sun Field), is inspired by a bright painting of the sun illuminating the green field behind the composer's small house in Sainte-Radegonde (Dordogne/Perigord, France). A resplendent and majestic section of full sun harmonies surrounds a middle section with more motion. The second movement, Gebet des Hl. Franziskus (Prayer of St. Francis), is inspired by a painting showing St. Francis of Assisi in prayer. Francis has been a frequent theme in Willscher's music since his appointment at a young age as organist of St. Francis Church in Hamburg. The third movement, Laetare (Rejoice), is inspired by an vibrant abstract painting comprised of bold colors. The alternation of the blocks of rich color are mirrored in the block harmonic shifts in the movement, which is a moto perpetuo, building towards the organ's fullest sounds. STILL. LEBEN Organist Eva Feldbc:ek had been asking me for a long time to write for the organ without the use of iron blocks, extra stopping assistants etc .... unusual difficulties that belonged to my earlier organ music. I setmyselfthe task of Miting a ''handier'' kind of music for the organ. Once I had finished STILL. LEBEN, I didn't think I had achieved what I was looking for. True, the two movements did not involve odd things, but handy isn't really the word for them either. So I wrote the three movements in COUNTERMOVE to tidy up even more. And since I didn't think that was enough either, I wrote the really simple pieces under the title IN TRIPLUM. The three series(eight pieces in all, 2 + 3 + 3) sound very different, but they all take their point of departure from the nature and tonal resources ofthe organ. A very practical collection for accompanying hymns. Composer Edward Eicker has taken ten familiar and frequently-used hymn tunes and provided each with an artful introduction and a free harmonization, often used for a final stanza. In addition, there is a modulation provided for each tune that takes the hymn up one step. The modulation is followed by the same free harmonization in the new key. This collection provides organists with great flexibility—any one of the four items provided for the hymns can be used by itself or in any combination with the others.
