| Organ Works Organ Breitkopf & Härtel
Organ SKU: BR.EB-9306 Urtext - Critical Source Edition of the Free Org...(+)
Organ SKU: BR.EB-9306 Urtext - Critical Source Edition of the Free Organ Works. Composed by Dietrich Buxtehude. Edited by Harald Vogel. Solo instruments; Softbound. Edition Breitkopf. Renaissance/early Baroque; Baroque. Score. 84 pages. Breitkopf and Haertel #EB 9306. Published by Breitkopf and Haertel (BR.EB-9306). ISBN 9790004187708. 12 x 9 inches. This edition is the result of Harald Vogel's many years of practice as an organist and musicologist. The music text is based on a reevaluation of 17th- and 18th-century manuscripts containing the free organ and keyboard works by Buxtehude. They originated during a transitional phase between the traditional letter tablature and the staff notation still in use today. Since many works have survived only in transcriptions for staff notation, the editor was confronted with a high error rate, which he carefully analyzes in the Einzelanmerkungen. During the preparation of the edition, the editor always kept sight of the performance practice, but still, the image of the sources is never distorted (e. g. by superfluous rests, beaming not conforming to the sources and the unhistorical adjustment of time signatures) and stays very close to the compositional notation, the letter tablature. The flexible use of three staves and the differentiated distribution of the voices on the staves allow for an approximation in reading conventions of historical notation with its resulting information about hand division. Grouping the free organ repertoire into works with obbligato pedal and works for manuals, this edition is organized in two volumes. The first subvolume (I/1, EB 9304) contains the Preface and the Preludes, whereas the second subvolume (I/2, EB 9305) contains Toccatas, Ostinato works, alternative versions and a comprehensive Critical Commentary (in German only). Volume II (EB 9306) contains Buxtehude's free organ and keyboard works (manualiter) with the corresponding texts (Preface and Critical Commentary).Until 1971, Harald Vogel worked on a dissertation (with Georg von Dadelsen, Hamburg) on Die Fuge um Bach. Besides the description of the inclusion of triple measures into the C notation and the irregularities of the voice mutation in the polyphonic structures, this also included a discussion about the justification of the inner textual criticism. With the inner textual criticism, deviations in parallel passages are unified. The North German fugue style, reaching a peak in Buxtehude's work, is characterized by a constant diversity of details in subject and polyphonic progressions. One of the indicators of the fantastic style is the dissolution of the polyphonic structures at the ends of the fugues, evident in Buxtehude's work.In this edition, a musical text is presented that avoids the uniformity of detail not conforming to the sources. However, there are many examples of transcription and cursory errors, which are analyzed in a methodical systematic manner. About the editor: As an organist, professor, organ expert, and scholar, Harald Vogel has rendered outstanding services to the interpretation of early music and especially to historical performance practice concerning the organ for decades. He has received numerous awards, including an ECHO Klassik as Instrumentalist of the Year (2012), honorary doctorates from Lulea University of Technology (Sweden, 2008) and Oberlin College (USA, 2014), as well as the Buxtehude Prize of the City of Lubeck (2018). Harald Vogel is the author and editor of numerous scholarly publications and editions. Through his lifelong performance practice, he can look back on an extensive discography, including the complete recording of Buxtehude's organ works, which he recorded in various locations with historical organ instruments of the North German organ building tradition in Scandinavia, North Germany and the Netherlands.

Chen Yi describes her dramatic study in the organ’s sonorities: “From the bronze drum set on topof the totem pole, I imagine that our ancestors played the powerful low percussion instrument,to unify the rhythm in their group dance; from the delicate and magical decorations carved onthe drum and the pole, I imagine that the beauty of the totem poles is presented in multilayerswith various timbres from different manuals (keyboards) and pedals, and the ineffable universe isharmonized in the powerful and brilliant grand chords fully sounded from the organ.†The publicationincludes registrations, fingerings, and pedaling provided by James Higdon. Freie Orgelwerke - BuxWV 136-161. Par BUXTEHUDE DIETERICH. This edition is the r...(+)
Freie Orgelwerke - BuxWV 136-161. Par BUXTEHUDE DIETERICH. This edition is the result of Harald Vogel?s many years of practice as an organist and musicologist. The music text is based on a reevaluation of 17 th - and 18 th -century manuscripts containing the free organ and keyboard works by Buxtehude. They originated during a transitional phase between the traditional letter tablature and the staff notation still in use today. Since many works have survived only in transcriptions for staff notation, the editor was confronted with a high error rate, which he carefully analyzes in the ?Einzelanmerkungen?. Volume II (EB 9306) contains Buxtehude?s free organ and keyboard works (manualiter) with the corresponding texts (Preface and Critical Commentary). Until 1971, Harald Vogel worked on a dissertation (with Georg von Dadelsen, Hamburg) on ?Die Fuge um Bach?. Besides the description of the ?inclusion? of triple measures into the C notation and the irregularities of the ?voice mutation? in the polyphonic structures, this also included a discussion about the justification of the ?inner textual criticism?. With the inner textual criticism, deviations in parallel passages are unified. The North German fugue style, reaching a peak in Buxtehude?s work, is characterized by a constant diversity of details in subject and polyphonic progressions. One of the ?indicators of the fantastic style? is the dissolution of the polyphonic structures at the ends of the fugues, evident in Buxtehude?s work. In this edition, a musical text is presented that avoids the uniformity of detail not conforming to the sources. He has received numerous awards, including an ECHO Klassik as Instrumentalist of the Year (2012), honorary doctorates from Luleå University of Technology (Sweden, 2008) and Oberlin College (USA, 2014), as well as the Buxtehude Prize of the City of Lübeck (2018). Harald Vogel is the author and editor of numerous scholarly publications and editions. Through his lifelong performance practice, he can look back on an extensive discography, including the complete recording of Buxtehude?s organ works, which he recorded in various locations with historical organ instruments of the North German organ building tradition in Scandinavia, North Germany and the Netherlands. / Date parution : 2022-10-12/ Recueil / Orgue

A scholarly-critical performing edition of George Frideric Handel's Complete Organ Works based on the Halle Handel Edition (HHA).First single-volume edition of Handel's Organ worksIncludes all variant readings from the sources which have previously only been available in the Critical Commentary of the HHADetailed Foreword (Ger/Eng) with short descriptions of each source and a Critical Commentary (Ger/Eng)With contemporary Organ dispositionsIn terms of layout and musical text this Barenreiter edition is based on the complete volumes of the composer's Keyboard music edited by TerenceBest as part of the HHA.The Halle Handel Edition's Critical Commentary forms the basis of this edition which however differs from the HHA volumes in two respects. Firstly it gathers together for the first time all of Handel's works for which it can be solidly argued that they were composed for the Organ. The centre piece is a set of twelve handwritten fugues deriving directly from the composer's immediate surroundings and published here for the first time as a unified cycle. Secondly this Barenreiter edition presents plausible alternative readings from various sources in the main body of the music. In the HHA these readings all of which definitely or presumably stem from the composer are merely listed in the critical commentary.Contents:Fuga I in C minor HWV 610Fuga II in G minor HWV 605Fuga III in B-flat major HWV 607Fuga IV in F minor HWV 433/2Fuga V in E minor HWV 429/1Fuga VI in G major HWV 606Fuga VII in D minor HWV 428/2Fuga VIII in A minor HWV 609Fuga IX in B minor HWV 608Fuga X in F-sharp minor HWV 431/3Fuga XI in F major HWV 427/4Fuga XII in F major HWV 611Fuga in E major HWV 612O the pleasure of the plains in G major HWV 474Jesu meine Freude in G minor HWV 480

Pachelbel was one of the great organ masters of the generation before J.S. Bach....(+)
Pachelbel was one of the great organ masters of the generation before J.S. Bach. Unsurprisingly interest in his music has remained constant and today he is widely considered one of the greatest and indisputably one of the most productive composers of all time. This new collection assembles a rich selection of the composer's organ works including 72 chorale settings and 48 nonliturgical works among them toccatas fugues preludes ricercares and fantasias. Bach: Complete Organ Works Vol. 5
Sonatas / Trios / Concertos - ed. by Pieter Dirksen
Organ Works Based on Compositions by Bach and Others
Genres such as sonata, trio and concerto were initially uncommon in the keyboard music of the early 18th century. Thus it comes as no surprise that many of the pieces in this volume are arrangements by Bach of original compositions and of works by other composers. Next to the Sonatas BWV 525?530 and the Concertos or concerto movements based on pieces by other composers BWV 592?596, the volume also contains the Trio in D minor BWV 583, the Trio settings BWV 585?587 as well as the early versions of BWV 527 and 528. Moreover, the CD-ROM offers eight arrangements of trio movements by Bach made by others. In his detailed introduction, Pieter Dirksen discusses various aspects of these pieces' origins, inasmuch as they help us better understand the works. The organist will especially welcome the comments on performance practice and registration. It is precisely the fact that these works derive from chamber-music models that leads to individual considerations for each work group.
