Facsimile Of The Draft Score and Paul Sacher'S Annotated Full Score Copy-Béla Bartók's Sonata for Two Pianos and Percussion composed in summer 1937 on a commission from Paul Sacher and premièred in Basel in January 1938 is incontestably one of the supreme creations of modern music. This publication with introductory essays by Felix Meyer Robert W. Wason Lászlo Vikárius and Wolfgang Rathert presents two major handwritten sources for this work from the holdings of the Paul Sacher Foundation: the draft score which offers a fascinating glimpse into the sonata's genesis and a 'whiteprint' of the fair copy which contains additions from Bartók and differs substantially from the definitiveversion at the end of the development section in movement 1. The volume also contains on an enclosed CD the radio recording of 1940 with Bartók and his wife Ditta Pásztory on the piano parts as well as a new recording of the sonata in its 'original' form played by the Bugallo-Williams Piano Duo with percussionists Matthias Würsch and Christian Dierstein.

Aus der Fülle Musik für zwei Tasteninstrumente, welche in der Bibliothek des Benediktinerstiftes Einsiedeln aufbewahrt wird, stammen diese zwei bisher unveröffentlichten Kompositionen anonymischer Autorschaft für zwei Cembali. Während die einsätzige Sonata in C-Dur von den beiden Spielern ein dichtes, duett-artiges Zusammenspiel verlangt, wird das dreisätzige Concertino in G-Dur von einem äußerst reizvollen und galanten Dialog geprägt, der uns in stilistische Nähe der Orgelsonaten C. Ph. E. Bachs führt. Hier könnte man sich angesichts des teilweise sehr ausgeprägten Wechselspiels der beiden Stimmen auch unbeschwert zu einer Ausführung auf zwei Orgeln verleiten lassen. Beide Stücke überzeugen durch ihre kompositorische Qualität; den Ausführenden jedoch werden keine besonders hohen spieltechnischen Anforderungen gestellt. Insgesamt gesehen stellen diese Werke sowohl für den kirchen-, als auch für den kammermusikalischen Gebrauch eine sehr zugängliche und höchst willkommene Erweiterung dieses Repertoirebereiches dar./ Répertoire / Cymbales ou Piano

Drummer and multi-percussionist Dietrich Wohrlin studied at the Musicians Institute in Los Angeles and the Hanns Eisler Music Academy Berlin known today as 'JIB' (Jazz Institute Berlin). Lengthy study trips through west Africaand Latin America further enhanced his musical and cultural knowledge. Dietrich has been teaching at the JIB since 1997 and at the Academy for Music and Theatre in Rostock since 1998. His principle fields are African Latin andBrazilian drums/percussion and body percussion. He also holds seminars in Methods/Didactics literature study and teaching practice. He is internationally in demand as a teacher lecturer workshop leader author composer studio musician drummer and percussionist.
