This work was commissioned by Bill Colleran. It was first performed by David Alberman on 19th November 2005 at St Paul’s Hall Huddersfield as part of the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival.The Sharp End OfNight was written especially for David Alberman by way of an enormous thank you for his breathtaking playing and acting in the composer's music theatre piece Who put Bella in the Wych Elm? (2003). The music is derivedentirely from the Violin part of that work.
