Based on scriptures, the message reaches into the deep longing of the believer's heart and reminds us of God's beautiful promises. A balance of unison and full four-part harmonies creates a pleasing listening experience and a clearness in the delivery of the words. This work was commissioned by St Dunstan's College South-East London for the celebration of its centenary in 1988. It is an anthem and uses a setting of Psalm 100. The work has three main sections (fast-slow-fast) and is essentially jubilant in nature. After a brief instrumental introduction the choir enters using as its text the first two verses of the Psalm. This reaches a climax on the word singing after which the music subsides into the serene key of C major for female voices only to sing a reflective tune on the words Know ye surrounded by various counter melodies on solo horn and trumpet. Male voices then take over this tune (inverted) and the final comment isleft to unaccompanied choir leaving sopranos on a held low D. At this point the last section begins. The mood is set by Organ and Percussion the style takes off its hat to minimalism with multi-layered textures underpinning the choral unison on the word Enter. Eventually the tonality heads towards G major and a reprise of the opening music with a coda full of energetic exuberance.

Craig Hella Johnson Choral Series-In this beautiful poem by Dorothy Parker Mary knows her baby is holy simply because he is hers. She considers herself blessed whenever he reaches another birthday without even knowing how few he has left. Celebrating Mary themother and Christmas Doug Brandt creates an inner voice of Mary in the Altos and Tenors while the outer voices create the ironic voice of both joy and heartbreak.

This work was commissioned by the Hanover Girls’ Choir in 2014 a year marking not only the centenary of the Great War (1914–1918) but also the 300th anniversary of the Hanoverian Succession to the throne of England upon the death of Queen Anne in 1714. While the latter circumstance prompted a desire for a work reflecting upon friendship and unity faint but abiding resonances of the former suggested that the theme might be viewed in more universal terms especially since the music was commissioned with a view to collaborative harmony between distinguished German and English performers. It was with this in mind that Charles Bennett provided his libretto which goingyet further afield listens to the still small voice of peace and humanity as it insistently reaches us from the oppressed of any time and place.

Acte de Ballet. Par RAMEAU JEAN-PHILIPPE. Rameau Io RCT 45 (Vocal Score) In Rameau's operatic oeuvre, 'Io' is certainly the work shrouded in the most mystery: the acte de ballet has survived only in the form of a copy of the score and parts which was made by a collector from the generation after Rameau from the autograph that now is lost. Although the copy seems to have been used, presumably for a trial read-through, the work was apparently never regularly performed during Rameau's lifetime. And for good reason: the work breaks off abruptly at the beginning of the divertissement; neither the librettist nor a plan for a theatre location are known. Because of its incompleteness, 'Io' was long regarded as Rameau's last work, but there is much to suggest that the composition must have been written between 1740 and 1745. The introduction to this edition examines the references regarding the dating as well as various hypotheses about performance possibilities and librettists. The plot revolves around one of those typical mythological flirtations that are inevitably to be expected when Jupiter and a nymph, here Io, are involved. With the appearance of madness, La Folia, the work reaches a dramaturgical climax. However after this, the opera breaks off. In order to make the piece performable, the editors of ?Opera Omnia Rameau? propose an addition to the divertissement as well as an ending borrowed from the ballet bouffon 'Platée' in its 1745 version, which shows numerous parallels to 'Io'.
