Violin Concerto In G major is considered to be the earliest of Joseph Haydn?s Violin concertos and was apparently written before he was taken into the service of the Esterházy family. It was firstpublished a century after the Austrian composer?s death in 1909 and was little known before. The concerto is lovely and ingratiating to the ear consisting of 3 movements (Allegro moderato Adagio andAllegro) with a total performance time of under 20 minutes. Selon certains éléments la sonate en Sol majeur Hob. XV:32 publiée ici serait même peut-être la seule de ses ?uvres originales appartenant à ce genre. La similitude évidente du début de cette sonate avec le thème du second mouvement de la sonate pour violon en Sol majeur K. 301 de Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart également en deux mouvements pourrait tout aussi bien être une citation volontaire.
