According to Shinichi Suzuki a world-renowned violinist and teacher the greatest joy an adult can know comes from developing a child's potential so he/she can express all that is harmonious and best in human beings. Students are taught using the 'mother-tongue' approach. Each series of books for a particular instrument in the Suzuki Method is considered a Suzuki music school such as the Suzuki Viola School. Suzuki lessons are generally givenin a private studio setting with additional group lessons. Par BACH JOHANN SEBASTIAN. Bach would almost certainly have approved of this arrangement of his organ work (BWV 582) for string quartet by John Cooley, as it conveniently has four contrapuntal parts, and he was well known for making arrangements of his own works, according to instrumental resources at his disposal. Moreover, the parts mostly fit well within the ranges of violin, viola and cello, although notes have been raised by an octave in a few places. This quartet version is therefore simply the four parts written out separately, following Bach?s original version note for note. It is quite ?notey? but straightforward and accessible technically to reasonably good players as there are no tricky rhythms or high notes. As well as this organ piece arrangement, SJ Music has also published John Cooley?s arrangements of Mozart?s piano duets K497 and K521 for piano trio and piano quartet respectively, Bach?s concerto for violin and oboe for string quartet, and one of Purcell?s trio sonatas for string trio. / Date parution : 2022-03-16/ Répertoire / Quatuor à Cordes

Les trois sonates pour viole de gambe de J. S. Bach sont au c?ur du répertoire des instruments à cordes frottées graves. Elles reposent sur des ?uvres de Bach initialement écrites pour d?autres instruments et ont en commun une polyphonie rigoureuse à trois voix (viole de gambe et instrument à clavier à deux voix). L?arrangement pour alto rejoint la pratique d?adaptation de Bach lui-même. L?original pour viole de gambe ne descend que rarement en dessous de l?ambitus de l?alto ce qui se corrige aisément en octaviant vers le haut la partie mélodique.

'Il est donc tout à fait tort de placer les joueurs juste mécaniques ou médiocre à l'alto', a averti Christian Friedrich Daniel Schubart en 1784/85 dans son 'Ideen zu einer der Ästhetik Tonkunst'. Un certain mépris pour l'instrument existe encore aujourd'hui, si vous pensez que le grand nombre de blagues alto. Mais sérieusement, l'alto a bien sûr s'émanciper et a bien sûr eu sa place dans l'orchestre, comme instrument soliste ou en musique de chambre, même si, il est vrai, le répertoire est plus faible que pour le violon ou le violoncelle. This piece for unaccompanied viola solo transforms the gentle arches of Bach's theme into slowly soaring arpeggi of almost unending phrase lengths. Originally written for cello it was premiered by Yo-Yo Ma in Boston in 1997 inmemory of Robert Goldberg. This version for viola is edited by Melia Watras.
