Delicate and fragile, this musical parable from scripture reminds us to trust God in every situation. The musical style suggests a folk ballad, using unison singing for lyrical clarity and simple four-part writing to add a deeper expressive element. The guitar-like piano support gives the anthem a pleasant, unpretentious ambience.

Telemann for Two Volume I, Fantasias 1-6 arranged for Two FlutesWhat could be more delightful than playing Telemann duets, or playing the Telemann Fantasias? Sharon Sparrow and Jeffery Zook have created a remarkable set of duet adaptations of the Fantasias, sounding as if Telemann himself had composed them as two-part inventions. The original Telemann works are shared between the two players, mixed with counterpoint to enhance the authentic solo works. The result is equally suitable for formal recitals and recreational duet playing! The present publication includes two performance scores of their settings of Fantasias 1-6, with a Volume II to include Fantasias 7-12.______________________________________Text from the scanned back cover:SHARON SPARROW is Assistant Principal Flute of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. MARS HILL FANTASIA was commissioned by and is gratefully dedicated to Mars Hill College (now Mars Hill University), as part of the festivities celebrating their Sesquicentennial in 2006. The work was commissioned by their Low Brass instructor, and my friend, Dr. James Sparrow. The university is located right in the heart of the beautiful mountain area of Western North Carolina, and I wrote a work which both celebrates the long and distinguished history of Mars Hill University and its lovely mountain setting. The work is scored for two combined ensembles -- an 8-part low brass ensemble of trombones, euphoniums, and tubas, and an 8-part percussion ensemble of both mallet and non-pitched percussion instruments. The music contains rich, sonorous, and joyful gestures, with stentorian fanfares, resonant chords, and lyrical melodies. It was given a truly exciting and festive premiere in October 2006 by the combined low brass and percussion ensembles of the music department of Mars Hill.MARS HILL FANTASIA was commissioned by and is gratefully dedicated to Mars Hill College (now Mars Hill University), as part of the festivities celebrating their Sesquicentennial in 2006.The work was commissioned by their Low Brass instructor, and my friend, Dr. James Sparrow. Written in honor of the Béla Bartók centennial, MUSIQUE NOCTURNES is inspired by one of his most characteristic and original works, the fourth piece (by the same title), from the suite Out of Doors. Both pieces feature overlapping “night musics†– atmospheric cluster figures, sharply contrasting motifs suggesting nocturnal bird, frog, or insect sounds, and an element of human, folksong-like melody as Levinson alludes to the authentic Hungarian folksong, “Tiszán innen, Dunán túl.â€.This simple piece was written in 2015 as a birthday present for the composer’s wife, poet and fellow bird lover Nanine Valen, and is a distant sequel to Canons and Chorale, which he wrote for her in 1969. The ornithological character is an affectionate tribute as well to his teacher Olivier Messiaen. The titular birds are a highly stylized chickadee and two song sparrows.First public performance: Swarthmore College, November 13, 2016, by Marcantonio Barone, whose editorial assistance in the preparation of this edition is gratefully acknowledged. Recorded by Marcantonio Barone on Innova 948.
