William Boyce’s Te Deum And Jubilate In C was written for four Voices (SATB) with Bass continuo (Piano) accompaniment and first published in 1790. The lyrics of the two sacred pieces are both in English translation an early Christian hymn of praise (Te Deum) and Psalm 100 (Jubilate). As morning canticles they are usually sung at Morning Prayer in the Anglican tradition. Cecil Armstrong Gibbs was a prolific and versatile English composer of the 20th century. Gibbs is best known for his output of songs but he also wrote a considerable amount of music for the amateur choirsthat he conducted. His reputation as a song-writer largely lies in his natural gift for text setting he insisted on giving priority to the words over the music and had very clear musical ideas on what a song should be.
