Bassoon; Piano Accompaniment (Score and Solo Part) SKU: HL.253938 Bass...(+)
Bassoon; Piano Accompaniment (Score and Solo Part) SKU: HL.253938 Bassoon and Piano. Composed by Jó and zef Swider. PWM. Classical. Softcover. 32 pages. Polskie Wydawnictwo Muzyczne #12020010. Published by Polskie Wydawnictwo Muzyczne (HL.253938). 9.0x12.0 inches. Sonata for bassoon and piano is one of Swiders first works for a wind instrument. It was written most probably in the years 1953-1954, under a clear influence of neo-classicist stylistics. The only documented performance took place on 5th May 1955 in Katowice, or Stalinogrod, as such was the name of that city in those days. The first part of Sonata is written in a form of scherzando of a light and witty character, where the composer fully uses the facture and bassoons sound potential. The second part, full of meditation and cantilena, bears a particular expression of lower registers of the instrument. Part three is a traditional minuet in moderato tempo, with stylised folk elements in the middle fragment. The last part resumes the scherzo form, capped by a cadenza written by Marek Baranski, in which attempting to imitate the language of Jozef Swider's compositions that include numerous elements of a synthetic finale he included most music concepts outlined in the entire Sonata. $21.99 - See more - Buy online

Bassoon and Piano - Grade 6-8 SKU: ST.C389 Composed by Various. Arranged by Martin Gatt. Wind and brass music. Clifton Edition #C389. Published by Clifton Edition (ST.C389). ISBN 9790570813896. An Album of Twenty French Songs arranged for Bassoon and Piano by Martin Gatt
Fauréâ??s poignant love song Après un rêve exists in many different transcriptions for various instruments (the most famous version perhaps being the one for cello and piano that Pablo Casals made in 1910), and provides the initial inspiration for this album of French songs transcribed for bassoon and piano. The bassoon is capable of a broad range of timbres and expression, and it is the lyrical, vocal quality of the instrument that Martin Gatt has always been attracted to. In both his performance and teaching, his emphasis is on the importance of what he calls â??vocalisingâ?? through the bassoon, and for him, music for the voice â?? especially art songs of the 19th and 20th centuries â?? has been a rich source of material for exploring the expressive tonal colours of the bassoon.
The treasure trove of French art song from composers ranging from Claude Arrieu to Louis Vierne, not to mention the greats like Berlioz or Debussy or Ravel, has made the task of choosing which songs to include in this album a difficult one. In the end, Martin has settled on eight composers who have produced some of the most appealing music in the genre â?? Camille Saint-Saëns (1835-1921), Georges Bizet (1838-1875), Emmanuel Chabrier (1841-1894), Jules Massenet (1842-1912), Gabriel Fauré (1845-1924), Henri Duparc (1848-1933), Cécile Chaminade (1857-1944), and Francis Poulenc (1899-1963). Rather than grouping by composer, the songs are set out in a way that contrasts different emotional worlds and sentiments, from the vibrant exuberance of Chabrierâ??s Lâ??île heureuse to the gentle melancholy of Poulencâ??s Mais mourir. These â??songs without wordsâ? for the bassoon, clearly demonstrate the instrumentâ??s cantabile qualities, varied nuances, and wide-ranging emotional possibilities. $20.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 4 to 6 weeks

It is aimed principally at students of grades 1 to 5 and intended to combine technical challenges with that most vital musical ingredient: fun.Mr Sheen's Miscellany For Bassoon - Grade 1 contains three pieces for bassoon and piano by Graham Sheen.Polka-dots.There are three contrasting types of expression for the bassoonist here. The opening phrase is staccato which is followed (at bar 11) by a sustained counter melody. Finally (at bar 19) both these effects are combined in a second melody which needs very clear dynamicplaying.Monkey Puzzle.Sustaining the sound while re-articulating the notes is important in this piece. In other words the opening should be played almost slurred. Be aware of the changing harmonies underneath the held notes in the bassoon part.Serious Song.Long but separate notes contrast with real legato. The main theme is marked tenuto so full value for each note especially ending notes. Even the quavers aren't very short at this speed. Try to make the richest sound you can like for example a fine Russian baritone.
