La fin de l'époque préclassique est illuminée par un groupe prestigieux de musiciens: Jean-Philippe Rameau, François Couperin, Domenico Scarlatti mais aussi Haendel et Bach. En ce début du XVIII° siècle, l'écriture change. Couperin, grand méthodiste, fait ressortir une profonde poésie avec charme et profondeur. Il utilise généralement deux voix dans un registre assez restreint où les mains sont rapprochées sur le clavier. Scarlatti est considéré comme l'un des plus grands compositeurs pianistiques de l'histoire de la musique. Il tisse des sons volubiles et transparents avec une grande virtuosité. Rameau est incisif et impétueux. Avec une grande souplesse rythmique, il utilise des écarts allant jusqu'à la 13e. Ses pièces dépassent souvent ce qu'on avait coutume de demander au clavecin. Toutes ces adaptations pour deux saxophones identiques permettent d'aborder un riche répertoire, absent bien souvent de l'univers familier des saxophonistes. On pourra s'initier à l'art de l'ornementation notamment dans les pièces de Couperin ou Rameau. Nuances et articulations constituent simplement une proposition de ma part.
