Je souhaitais également que cela soit l'occasion pour chacun de découvrir et d'apprendre cet instrument, de manière progressive et en commençant au tout début, grâce à une grande simplicité mélodique soutenue par une richesse harmonique et orchestrale, dans des styles musicaux variés. De plus, sur le CD, vous trouverez une version accompagnée au piano et une version orchestrée ainsi que les deux playbacks correspondants, permettant de faire, si besoin est, un travail de mise en place et d'interprétation en deux étapes progressives. Dans le livre, la simplicité de l'accompagnement de piano, surmonté de la grille harmonique, autorise le travail en duo sans qu'il soit nécessaire, pour le pianiste, de posséder plus d'une ou deux années de pratique instrumentale. Pour terminer, je dois avouer que ces nouvelles compositions m'ont également permis de mieux apprécier cet instrument doté de qualités insoupçonnées et peut-être pas toujours considéré comme il le devrait. 'World Music - Celtic” presents material from the Irish, Scottish, Welsh, Cornish and Breton traditions. Tourish accepts that this volume can only scratch the surface of a multi-faceted genre but hopes you will see it as a stepping stone to delve deeper into recordings, festivals and the very communities whence this music comes. Dawn’s Dove for solo recorder was composed in 1994. It was first performed by John Turner who commissioned it at a concert in honour of the sixtieth birthday of the composer Anthony Gilbert to whom the piece is dedicated.It is not a literal birdsong but I hope it captures the spirit of jubilant dawn chorus - as well as the softer sounds of a dove which does not get up as early as other birds! I wrote it while I was writing my opera 'The Wildman' and the epilogue of that opera is introduced by a piccolo solo which is very like Dawn's Dove - they share material. In the opera it signifies early morning.Part way through Dawn’s Dove the tempo becomes steadier and Iquote from a beautiful work of Anthony Gilbert his 'Towards Asavari’ for piano and ensemble. At the end of that work there is a trumpet solo which outlines the Indian raga on which the piece is based. My quote alludes to that.The unfolding melodic line of Dawn’s Dove is sometimes inflected by microtones; the piece lasts between two and three minutes.
