Composer's Note Once, we had a joint conception to create a concert telling a life story. The premiere was planned to take place on the Acropolis in Athens. It was intended to be a large event, a hybrid of a mystery play and an opera. Krzysztof Kieslowski would be the director, Krzysztof Piesiewicz was responsible for the script, and I was planning to compose the music. We thought it might be the first of a series of musical performances, to be developed in various interesting places around the world in the next few years. But it was life that authored a different ending: Krzysztof Kieslowski died in March of 1996. The first part of Requiem for My Friend is meant as a farewell to Krzysztof Kieslowski. I dedicate this music to him. Zbigniew Preisner.

Behold, A Savior! is a portrait of a promise and a portrait of the fulfillment of that promise. Throughout this musical, Jay Rouse and Rose Aspinall skillfully weave scripture and dramatic first-hand accounts of the birth of Jesus into beloved carols and original songs. Each monologue and song will take you on a journey—from the longing of Zechariah, the joy and acceptance of Mary, and the courage of Joseph to the accounts of the shepherds and wise men. Designed with flexibility in mind, these songs and stories can be presented individually across the Advent season or in their entirety for a special event. An optional introduction and closing narration, accessible solos, and gorgeous orchestrations add to the flexibility and will make this one of the most practical collections in your library.

Taking Thomas Hardy's short story as its starting point, we are transported to the present for a contemporary take on the novella which explores the power the mind can have over that person's actions. A closed door sparks an obsession so strong that the boundaries between reality and fantasy begin to blur.Ella and her high-finance husband Stephen rent a room in a holiday home on the coast, owned by Susan. Ella discovers that a locked room in the house is rented by a poet - Ben Pascoe - whose work holds a deep fascination for her. The room is held for Pascoe, though he visits rarely.Ella's obsession with Pascoe grows in parallel with the progress of Stephen's biggest City deal. She begins by imagining the poet's voice as she reads his work, but this quickly grows to fantasised encounters with Pascoe in his locked room. Stephen returns from the City and makes love to Ella, but it is not him she wishes for. We see the real Pascoe only once, with Susan. As Stephen's financial dreams are realised and Ella's fantasy consumes her, she learns of Pascoe's death. Despite her changed circumstances, Ella chooses to stay in her new world.

Dualities by Emily Howard is a contemporary work for an ensemble of 14 players. The work is an expression of the fascination with the juxtaposition of extremes and explores relationships between emotion and reason, constructivism and spontaneity, complexity and simplicity. The resultant musical structure is an accumulation of transitions between contrasting soundworlds. Dualities was commissioned by Ensemble 10/10, the Contemporary Music Group of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic who gave the first performance on 5 October 2005 at the Eleanor Rathbone Theatre, University of Liverpool. Composer Otto M. Schwarz completed his first Concerto for trumpet in October 2009. Schwarz displays a special knack in writing for this instrument, thanks to his trumpet studies undertaken with Professor Josef Pomberger at the Music Conservatory in Vienna. Concerto for Trumpet No. 1 'Trumpet Town' was commissioned by the police-orchestra of Upper Austria, under the baton of Andreas Schwarzenlander. The work was premiered on 17 November 2009. The soloist for the evening was trumpeter Franz Wagnermeyer, who also studied at the Vienna Conservatory and who currently performs with, amongst others, the international group “Ten of the Bestâ€. A rapid flourish in 12/8 time opens Concerto for Trumpet No. 1 'Trumpet Town'. The metric changes that follow affect the pulse rhythmically and melodically, in exciting and unexpected ways. The solo trumpet's displays of technical prowess and bravura alternate with the film-score-like tutti sections of the brass ensemble. The slow, almost elegiac, central section can be performed on the flugel horn, while the closing reprise demands that both the soloist and the orchestra give of their best as the piece comes to an exciting, colourful, and uplifting finale. This piece is also available for trumpet and piano.

Hardcover full score. Text in Polish, German, and English. This edition of the works of Mieczyslaw Karlowicz is based on critically examined sources. It includes all his compositions. The aim of the edition is to present the composer's original text as authentically as possible. This is not an easy task. The source materials of Karlowicz's music are very diverse in nature. Apart from most of the songs, the composer prepared for printing and published in his lifetime the following: Serenade for Strings Op. 2, Prelude and Fugue Op. 5, Concerto in A major for Violin and Orchestra Op. 8, Returning Waves Op. 9 and Eternal Songs Op. 10. Being highly experienced in writing for a symphony orchestra, and knowledgeable in the modern method of instrumentation in the neoromantic style, he prepared his scores with great care. The remaining symphonic poems were not published before the composer's death; and the 'Rebirth' Symphony, the manuscript of which miraculously survived the ravages of World War II, was issued only in 1993, as part of the present Complete Works edition. During this war the autographs of the most compositions by Karlowicz, including all his symphonic poems (except for The Sorrowful Tale), were lost. The present publication, therefore, is based as a rule on the first editions, compared with extant autographs or authorized copies of the scores. The amendments of misprints or self-evident mistakes on the part of the composer are not indicated graphically in the text but referred to in the Editorial Notes.

Following nearly 4 years without having composed a new symphony, although still writing opera overtures and works from orchestral serenades, Mozart composed the _x001A_Paris_x001A_ Symphony. Mozart received the commission from Joseph Legros, when him and his mother were in Paris in 1778.Mozart composed the work for the largest orchestra he_x001A_d written for until then in a symphony, marking the first time which he had used Clarinets in one of his symphonies. Mozart hadtaken pains to write the work in a style that would appeal to the French and, despite a dismal rehearsal, the first performance was well received.Available here is a study score of Mozart_x001A_s Symphony No.31 in D _x001A_Paris_x001A_ K.297, whichis ideal for study and perusal usage.

Invention is an exciting work for high school or college orchestra that features an accented, multi-metered main theme, contrapuntal writing, a fugue, a reflective melodic interlude, and an optional extended violin cadenza. The title refers to the process undertaken by great inventors such as Thomas Edison and Leonardo Da Vinci. In this work, the composer reflects the many emotions and processes an inventor might experience as he is working on his creation: the spark of inspiration, the excitement of a new project, trial and error, frustration and anger, intensity, and, at last, success!
