Many of the occasional pieces Bridge wrote in the early part of his career were published in versions for violin and piano or cello and piano. Bridge was himself a fine viola player and so it is therefore appropriate that these pieces (in addition to those he wrote specifically for viola and piano) should be published in transcriptions for viola.This volume contains numbers 1 to 5 of a set of ten pieces which have been skilfully transcribed for Viola with Piano accompaniment by Veronica Leigh Hunt.

These four pieces were written separately between 1901 and 1910 for cello and piano. They subsequently appeared in print in different versions, ranging from piano solo to full orchestra. The composer was himself a fine viola player, and, it is hoped, would have welcomed these transcriptions for viola and piano, published here for the first time.

Pensiero; Allegro Appassionata.Pensiero is set for the Associated Board examinations Grade 7 and Allegro Appassionata for the Guildhall School examinations Grade 8. Both pieces are set for the Trinity College examinations Grades 7/8 and for the London College Associate examination.
