Divertimenti for Wind Sextet-W. A. Mozart's Divertimenti For Wind Sextet. Mozart composed the five Divertimenti between the years 1775 and 1777 when he was living in Salzburg. The Italian title isreminiscent of simple ?light? music but the pieces? melodic ingenuity and colourful writing for Winds show it to be chamber music of the highest quality.This Henle Urtext edition is based on the autograph and bringstogether all five authentic sextets in one practical edition. An ensemble with the standard instrumentation (two Oboes two Horns and two Bassoons) will discover a true musical treasure. The two Horn parts are provided both in theoriginal transpositions (F/Bb/Eb) and also for Horn in F.

Anniversary Overture was commissioned in 1968 as a twenty-first birthday piece for Hong Kong Philharmonic Society and is a four-minute firework display for orchestra. Within the framework of a two-four Allegro giubiloso Arnold alternates two major themes one breezy the other tender developing them extensively and landing resoundingly in F major. This new transcription brings an exuberant work to the field of symphonic wind band for the first time.

'His present pieces must convince both connoisseurs and others alike of the unbiased opinion that Beethoven will in time become one of the greatest composers in Europe”, thus wrote Joseph Haydn, when informing the Elector in Bonn on the progress of his pupil in 1793. However, the elector replied that he was already familiar with parts of the Parthia op. 103 that had been sent as evidence of the composer's progress. Beethoven had apparently only reworked an earlier composition. Nevertheless we must agree with Haydn: The Parthia and the Rondo WoO 25 that was originally intended as the final movement provide wonderful evidence of Beethoven's great skill.
