Concerto no. 1 (Kreutzer)-Parisian violinist Georges Catherine (1872-1958) compiles an exciting collection for the Violin repertoire. The first solo from Kreutzer's Concerto No. 1 is clearly printed with a helpful key of unusual techniques. Kreutzer (1766-1831) was a French violinist teacher conductor and composer. He composed a significant forty operas and nineteen Violin concertos. The Violin solo line of Concerto No. 1 makes use of extended techniques including harmonics bow techniques aritculations and double stops. Jour D’été À La Montagne by Eugène Bozza (1905-1991) is a famous Flute Quartet published in 1955. Technically and musically challenging this piece was written for advanced flautists. Summer days in the mountain was composed in four movements: 1. Pastorale 2. Au bord du torrent 3. Le Chant des fôrets 4. Ronde. These four movements are all well-crafted to captivate the attention of the flautists (with their technicality tempo and musicality) but also those of the audience. Written in 1901 for the Paris Conservatoire contest Solo de Concours Op. 10 for Clarinet by Henri Rabaud is a piece that has become very popular since its composition. Used five additional times for the contest this piece was written for advanced clarinettists. Featuring three main parts its cadenza is one of the most difficult parts of the piece and will require some strong technique and some patience to be played smoothly. Henri Rabaud (1873-1949) is a French conductor and composer and was director at the Paris Conservatoire. He composed many famous pieces including this Solo de Concours Op. 10 butalso a cantata 'Daphné' which won the Grand Prix de Rome some operas ('Mârouf savetier du Caire Op. 14' 'L?appel de la mer') and some chamber music ('Andante et Scherzo for Flute Violin and Piano Op. 8').

French composer Charles Chaynes (b. 1925) studied at the Paris Conservatoire and won the Prix de Rome in 1951. In addition to several operas and chamber works Chaynes also composed several successful concertos such as his Trumpet Concerto. Suitable to the repertoire of advanced trumpeters Chaynes' Trumpet Concerto is adaptable to both the B flat and C Trumpet. The Concerto contains many challenging yet appealing features such as use of varying time signatures articulation extended techniques complex rhythms tempo changes and a wide range among other aspects. Charles Chaynes'Trumpet Concerto is a valuable addition to the modern repertoire of the Trumpet.

The first performance of the Trilogy Sonata was given by the arranger and pianist Paul Barnes on 19 April 2001. Cor En Fa Et Piano-Blai Maria Colomer (1833-1917) was a Spanish pianist and composer. Following his studies at the Paris Conservatoire he led a successful career as a teacher and composer. He is best remembered for his operas yet his Fantaisie Légende for Horn remains popular as a competition work at the Paris Conservatoire. Fantaisie Légende is a chromatic work for Horn in F first popularised in the 1899 solo Horn contest at the Paris Conservatoire. Fantaisie Légende exploits chromatic techniques by use of complex rhythms and variations in articulation as well as lyricalpassages. For all advanced Horn players seeking extravagant repertoire Colomer's Fantaisie Légende provides an exciting addition to the repertoire.

Son of a military bandleader Xavier Leroux (1863-1919) was a French composer who studied at the Paris Conservatoire under Jules Massenet and Théodore Dubois. Although primarily known for his Operas Leroux's Deux Romances for Flute and Piano remain prominent in the instrument's repertoire. Dedicated to Philippe Gaubert the first Romance is composed in A minor. Characteristics are typical of the French romantic era such as semiquaver flourishes use of the sultry lower register of the Flute variations in articulation much use of performance directions and chromaticisms among otheraspects. For all aspiring advanced flautists Leroux's Deux Romances make for a sublime addition to the repertoire.
