This work was commissioned by the Osaka Kyoiku University Wind Orchestra. The world premiere took place with trumpet soloist, Osamu Kumashiro and was conducted by the composer, who was inspired by the famous Ponte Vecchio (the old bridge) during a visit to Florence. This work is a musical collage of impressions following the composers visit to Italy. The solo part can also be performed on trumpet or euphonium. De wereldpremière werd samen met trompetsolist Osamu Kumashiro uitgevoerd onder leiding van de componist, die zich tijdens een bezoek aan Firenze heeft laten inspireren door de beroemde Ponte Vecchio (oude brug). Het werk is een muzikale collage van indrukken die Yagisawa in Italië heeft opgedaan. De solopartij kan ook op trompet of euphonium worden gespeeld. Die Welturaufführung fand mit dem Trompeter Osamu Kumashiro als Solist und unter der Leitung des Komponisten statt. Bei La Tyrolienne handelt es sich um die Tyrolienne des 19. Jahrhunderts aus Gioachino Rossinis vieraktiger, letzter Oper Guillaume Tell (Wilhelm Tell, 1829). Im Tyrolienne-Chor (Toi que l'oiseau ne suivrait pas, im dritten Akt, Szene 2, Nr. 15), der im Übrigen ohne Orchesterbegleitung auskommt, geben die Männerstimmen den Rhythmus vor, begleiten also die melodieführenden Frauenstimmen. Marie komponiert neben dem Thema drei Variationen, die er jeweils durch ein Tutti voneinander trennt.

Variations sur un thême napolitaine; 6. Variations sur un thême espagnol.) Die von Génin verwendete Melodie, Marlbrough s'en va-t-en guerre, ist eines der populärsten französischen Volkslieder. Zahlreiche Komponisten haben seine Bekanntheit genutzt, um musikalisch-programmatische Signale zu setzen: So verwendet Ludwig van Beethoven in Wellingtons Sieg oder die Schlacht bei Vittoria op. 91 (1813) diesen Gassenhauer, um die französischen Verbände musikalisch darzustellen.
