For baritone and orchestra (2014)-The Vocal Score for True Fire by Kaija Saariaho composed in 2014 and arranged for Baritone Voice and Orchestra. True Fire was commissioned by the Los AngelesPhilharmonic Orchestra NDR Sinfonieorchester BBC Symphony Orchestra and Orchestre national de France. The composition is a setting of five texts three of which are from renowned transcendentalist poet Ralph Waldo Emerson'sSpiritual Laws. The other texts are Irish poet Seamus Heaney's 'The Spirit Level' Songs of the Tewa and a piece of writing by Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish.  This beautiful workwas first performed at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles on the 14th of May 2015.

Scott Fitzgerald's famous novel about the dark side of theAmerican Dream. The Great Gatsby was commissioned and premiered by the Metropolitan Opera where these arias were performed by Dawn Upshaw Jerry Hadley and Lorraine Hunt Lieberson.

‘Eleven-Fifty’ is the fourth of seven separate songs to various poets written byLennox Berkeley in the late 1930s and early 1940s. They were grouped together forconvenience as Opus 14 No. 2.‘The Beacon Barn’ thethird of these songs also has a text by Patrick O’Malleywho according to Tony Scotland was ‘one of the First World War poets whoserved as a private in the Royal Dublin Fusiliers’. ‘Eleven-Fifty’ was composed inApril1938 and is a brief glorification of a high-speed train where the moto perpetuoaccompaniment barely stops. Berkeley admired Honegger bought a copy of thescore of his railway depiction Pacific 231 in 1924 andreviewed enthusiastically an all-Honegger concert conducted by the composer in Paris (‘A Paris Letter’ The MonthlyMusical Record June 1929).

This selection of arias, spanning many different eras and origins, has been devised as a collection of material for budding vocal students and ambitious amateurs. Not only including many standard repertoire pieces, this album also presents some rarely heard compositions.
