Introit for the feast of All Saints-'Composed in 2009 this short celebratory introit was the first of several unaccompanied works I composed for Matthew Owens and the Wells Cathedral Girl Choristers. The text ('Let us all rejoice') exists in a number of versions and here honours 'all the saints at whose solemnly the angels rejoice'. The texture essentially imitative is governed by a syncopated melodic phrase which gives way to softer material in the middle section. The return of the opening idea drives the piece towards a broad jubilant conclusion. The work was arranged for SSATB in 2010 for the Exon Singes Festival the upper parts unaltered. 'John Phibbs

Here is a cheerful song that celebrates life in metaphor with the seasons. The melodies are logical and cascade easily in canon. Decorated by an optional flute obbligato and simple parts for mallet instruments this is easily a learning song as well as a concert selection. Easy for middle school choirs.

John David is a Welsh musician and songwriter known equally for his work with Dave Edmunds and for his song writing. In 1978 his group Airwaves recorded an album and single ‘New Day’ with You Are The New Day on it. A choral a cappella version of You Are The New Day was later recorded by The King's Singers.
