Inspired by the chorales and solo suites of Johann Sebastian Bach. Performers with no experience in improvisation may use the written flute solos. These include some phrasing and articulation marks that are idiomatic to improvised music in the style of the piece.

Preceding Johann Sebastian Bach, Charpentier is the most important master who turned to setting the Hymn to the Virgin Mary, the Magnificat. No less than ten works, in differing vocal and instrumental scoring and form comprise this genre. In the present Magnificat H 78 for five voices (in which alto and bass also have solo roles), two flutes, strings and basso continuo, each of the individual movements contains its own expressive profile in sound. The work was composed around 1690 for the Jesuits in Paris. Score and part available separately - see item CA.2102300.

Telemann's Missa brevis on the Christmas hymn Ein Kindelein so lobelich is one of eleven surviving Latin Missae breves based on church hymns. The motetlike composition calls for a mixed choir accompanied by a basso continuo, reinforced by colla-parte instruments. However, the mass can also be performed solely with an organ accompaniment. Gottlob Harrer, the successor to Johann Sebastian Bach as Thomaskantor, performed the mass in Leipzig at Christmas in 1750 and 1751 with an instrumental accompaniment and for this purpose he added two horns. They are included in the present edition as ad libitum parts.

ISBN 9790080133347. Bach (23 x 30,2 cm) inches. Maria Giovanni Bononcini; Istvan Homolya.
Giovanni Maria Bononcini (1642-1678) published in Bologna in the last year of his life, i. e. in 1678 a collection of 24 movements for two violins and basso continuo entitled Arie e Correnti a tre (Op. 12). In agreement with the sonata da camera traditions of the early Baroque the collection is a series of 9 two-movement and 2 three-movement sonatas. It was published again in London in 1701 with the title Ayres in 3 parts. Four years later a revised edition of the work appeared, also in London, which bore the title Bononcini's Aires for two Flutes and a Bass. The edition published in Amsterdam without date, but presumably around 1725, with the title Preludes, Allemandes, Sarabandes, Courantes, Gavottes et Gigues a 2 Flutes ou Violons et une Basse, is essentially a reprint of the London edition. The present edition contains this posthumous revised variant. Territorial restrictions may apply. Please ask before ordering.
