Carl Fischer Music #CPS216. Published by Carl Fischer Music (CF.CPS216). ISBN 9781491152423. UPC: 680160909926. Cosmic Expedition takes performers on a musical journey far across the galaxy via three main sections. This fanfare composition would be perfect for opening a concert. It has bold brass fanfare figures over textural woodwinds to start and then takes the listener on a sonic journey through a variation of harmonic colors, tambural and textural shifts. Cosmic Expedition takes performers on a musical journey far across the galaxy via three main sections. The first, a rather celebratory and triumphant fanfare in Bb major begins with the upper woodwinds and percussion creating a sound-screen, that is a busy texture consisting of a flurry of repeated notes over which the horns and alto saxophones present the opening theme. The sound-screen should be carefully balanced and give way to the melody at m. 5, which should be played extremely marcato. The timpani solo beginning in m. 11 must not be understated. A brief percussion interlude separates a restatement of the opening theme, this time with the addition of the trumpet, tenor saxophone, and euphonium, and a counter melody by the low winds. The percussion interlude is playful, light, but full of vigor and energy. An Ab in the low winds pulls the harmony towards G minor in m. 40 to start the second section, a more serious fanfare. Here, the marimba repeats an ostinato that is complemented by the bass drum and woodblock. The upper woodwinds with the xylophone and snare drum dance over the stern secondary fanfare. A longing call lead by the trombones, interrupted by a subtle snare drum beckons to the clarinets and horn who begin the third section of the piece at m. 68. This haunting melody in C minor is legato, and starkly contrasts all which came before it. A relentless concert tom-tom played with hard mallets keeps the momentum persistent, and a heartbeat-like pulse is felt from the tuba and baritone saxophone. The melody rises towards m. 84 when the brass harken back to the fanfare style before fading back into another lush woodwind strain.A recapitulation of the low winds’ call is heard at m. 100 which in this occasion intensifies into an emphatic statement by the battery percussion instruments. Now in Eb major, the opening fanfare theme is heard again once more before fading into the beginning of the piece’s conclusion. To end, the counter melody from the opening section duels with chromatic tension above before swelling to an arrival in the original key of Bb major. The full ensemble celebrates the piece’s resolution, and after a few crunchy power chords the journey is completed. $95.00 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 24 hours - In Stock

Orchestra Cello, Contrabass, Piano, Viola, Violin 1, Violin 2, Violin 3 - Grade 2 SKU: CF.YAS176 Composed by Johann Pachelbel. Arranged by Larry Clark. SWS FS. Young String Orchestra. Set of Score and Parts. With Standard notation. 16+16+2+5+5+3+5+12 pages. Duration 2 minutes, 34 seconds. Carl Fischer Music #YAS176. Published by Carl Fischer Music (CF.YAS176). ISBN 9781491146569. UPC: 680160904068. 9 x 12 inches. Key: G major. This triumphant work by composer Alan Lee Silva will be a perfect selection for your next contest or festival performance. Atlantic Crossing contains all the signature flowing lines and warm harmonies that have made Silva's music so popular and fresh. A joyous journey across the ocean begins in the opening measures, featuring triumphant violins and violas and accented cellos and basses. After the celebratory introduction, Atlantic Crossing comes down in dynamics and transitions to the lyrical A melody in the violins (m. 9) and continues with an AAB form. The violas take over with the flowing B-theme in m. 17 as the rest of the ensemble accompanies the tune with lush harmonies at a lower dynamic. A two-measure build in mm. 24-25 with ascending violins leads back to a reprise of the powerful introductory statement where the ensemble plays full-out with precise articulations and accents. A two-measure interlude in mm. 34-35 slows the energy down to return to the legato A-theme in the violins and violas. Violas carry the B-theme once again in m. 44 with syncopated and accented answer motifs in the violins. The key center shifts at m. 53, and the violins play the melody in a legato interpretationof the introductory theme. The rest of the group plays their accompaniment figures smoothly and expressively underneath. After the molto ritardando at m. 61, the piece returns to the original key center of G. From there the group plays with driving energy as before in the introduction to the final punctuated note in m. 76. Concert Band/Harmonie - Grade 4 SKU: BT.AMP-392-010 Composed by Philip Sp...(+)
Concert Band/Harmonie - Grade 4 SKU: BT.AMP-392-010 Composed by Philip Sparke. Anglo Music Midway Series. Set (Score & Parts). Composed 2014. Anglo Music Press #AMP 392-010. Published by Anglo Music Press (BT.AMP-392-010). English-German-French-Dutch. The work opens with a stern fanfare in bare fifths, which leads to a cantabile theme introduced by alto saxophone. This builds to a climax and reintroduces the fanfare, which slowly evolves into the subsequent vivo. A perky tune emerges on flute, saxophone and trumpet, which, after a short bridge passage, leads to a contrasting melody on low clarinets and saxophones. After some development a true ‘second subject’ appears for the whole band. A recapitulation leads briefly back to the opening fanfare before the vivo returns to close the work in celebratory mood.
$196.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

Concert Band/Harmonie - Grade 4 SKU: BT.AMP-336-010 Composed by Philip Sp...(+)
Concert Band/Harmonie - Grade 4 SKU: BT.AMP-336-010 Composed by Philip Sparke. Anglo Music Midway Series. Concert Piece. Set (Score & Parts). Composed 2012. Anglo Music Press #AMP 336-010. Published by Anglo Music Press (BT.AMP-336-010). 9x12 inches. English-German-French-Dutch. This celebratory work, which Philip Sparke wrote for the 20th anniversary of the Nottingham Concert Band, starts with a hymn-like theme played as a fanfare in the brass. With a change of mood from ‘solemn’ to ‘merry’ and back to ‘majestic’, together with an unusual orchestration, in which may different instruments feature and in which at points the entire wind orchestra shimmers in tutti passages, A Nottingham Festival is a real pleasure for musicians and public alike.
$196.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

Brass Band - Grade 5 SKU: BT.AMP-417-130 Composed by Philip Sparke. Elite Series. Score Only. Composed 2015. Anglo Music Press #AMP 417-130. Published by Anglo Music Press (BT.AMP-417-130). English-German-French-Dutch. Second to None is a perfectly suitable title for this work, though it actually refers to “Nulli Secundusâ€, the motto of the British Corps of Army Music, who gave the commission to Philip Sparke. The piece opens with a fanfare, followed by two short quotes from two of the Corp’s own marches and a festive Vivace. A more legato central section creates a nice contrast before the work closes with the opening fanfare. A perfect affair!
Parfait !

Paying tribute to the musical tradition of the Corps, this celebratory work refers to some of its own famous marches like The Corps of ArmyMusic Slow March (Greg Machin) and The Music Makers (Ian Mitchell). Brass Band - Grade 5 SKU: BT.AMP-417-030 Composed by Philip Sparke. Elite Series. Concert March. Set (Score & Parts). Composed 2015. Anglo Music Press #AMP 417-030. Published by Anglo Music Press (BT.AMP-417-030).
Parfait !
Second to None was composed for the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the British Army Corps. Paying tribute to the musical tradition of the Corps, this celebratory work refers to some of its own famous marches like The Corps of ArmyMusic Slow March (Greg Machin) and The Music Makers (Ian Mitchell). Second to None - which can also be played in a shorter version - is an ideal opener for any festive concert. $115.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

Fanfare Band - Grade 3 SKU: BT.DHP-1125214-120 Composed by Jacob De Haan. Concert and Contest Collection Brass Band en Fanfare. Score Only. Composed 2012. 40 pages. De Haske Publications #DHP 1125214-120. Published by De Haske Publications (BT.DHP-1125214-120). 9x12 inches. English-German-French-Dutch. On a war memorial in the Dutch village of Wons is engraved a list of names to honour the fallen in World War II. This is the basis for the name of this piece. However, this composition was written for everyone who has made Wons what it is today: a pretty place near to Lake IJssel with a comfortable way of life. The piece begins with a celebratory introduction in which the village is presented to the listener. There follows a delightful rhythmic and high-tempo theme that reflects the happiness, innocence and carefree atmosphere before the war. Now we hear a moody, fragmented theme depicting soldiers shooting. This is brought to a close with dissonant clusters of sound, intoning the dreadful tragedy of the war. The ensuing quiet gives way to a calm middle section in a minor key that portrays both frustration and consolation. The fast tempo of the beginning returns, this time in the form of a victory march. We hear freedom being celebrated. We hear the previous happy, innocent and carefree themes, too. There follows a festive, martial theme, a tribute to the village, before the piece closes with sounds of celebration.
$42.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

La Lune: Orchestra: Score Orchestra [Sheet music] University Of York Music Press
'Le Voyage Dans La Lune is a continuous orchestral score of approximately 14 min...(+)
'Le Voyage Dans La Lune is a continuous orchestral score of approximately 14 minutes comprising two outer fast sections and a slower inner section of a dream-like character. The work is directly inspired by the film Le Voyage Dans La Lune (1902) written and directed by the pioneering French film-maker Georges Méliès. Méliès was influenced by 19th century interests in science and discoveries as well as the science fiction of Jules Verne. At the same time his work seems fantastic surreal and satirical. Some critics point out an underlying critique of colonial adventuring. The plot centres on a group of astronomers who decide tolaunch a rocket to the moon containing a handful of their number. They reach the moon (famously landing on the moon?s face) and then encounter a strange race of aliens whom they battle and destroy. The return to earth involves a dramatic descent a plunge into the ocean and then celebratory dancing. The film inhabits a surreal and dream-like space and uses an idiosyncratic visual language which transforms reality. This inspired an active musical response in my own score which is by turns abrupt smooth lyrical and violent and expresses something of the strange shifting surfaces and multiple and layered tempos evident in the film. The canons in the horns in the first scene reflect the intense arguments of the astronomers as they consider the project. The slower inner section is inspired by the scenes of the industrial City viewed from its rooftops by the astronomers. It also expresses the wonder of the astronomers as they see the earth rise from the perspective of the moon after their arrival there. The music of the final section is in places conflicted reflecting the violent encounters with the moon?s inhabitants. It moves into a more harmonious phase at the close to match the celebrations upon the astronomers? return from their adventuring. The music could be considered to be a surreal mini-opera

Quoting Burgon: My first thought on receiving this commission was what sort of text would suit. Something on the general idea of growth - starting very small and blossoming was the obvious way to go but it wasn’t until I foundthe Andrew Marvell poem Music’s Empire that I really got going. The poem is about the invention and development of music; this might sound a bit dry but in fact it is both charming and dramatic and it is also apt in that it canbe set for both solo voice and chorus. The other factor to be considered in writing this piece was the Purcell connection. Purcell wrote Come Ye Sons of Art in 1964 the year the bank was founded and this piece is alsoincluded in the celebratory concert. So I wanted to include some homage to HP as well.Marvell’s poem is the sort of text that Purcell might have set had he come across it. It is a sort of Ode of text that Purcell might haveset had he come across it. It is a sort of Ode to St Cecelia and he wrote one of those as we know. So I have referred to Purcell in two particular ways; I have quoted Come Ye sons of Art directly and I have used thecountertenor. Purcell himself sang countertenor in many of his own pieces and wrote some of the most gorgeous music ever written for that voice. I also happened to love both Purcell’s music and the countertenor so writing thispiece was really a labour of love.It is scored for countertenor mixed chorus and symphony of orchestra - rather larger than any orchestra that Purcell had access to as far as I know but one in which I’m sure he would haverevelled in given the opportunity. It is about ten minutes in duration.
