Fuego Fatuo has an interesting history. Manuel De Falla (1876-1946), often regarded as the greatest Spanish composer of the 20th century, wanted to write an opera based around themes from Chopin, whomhe greatly admired. The stage work was never finished; however, several attempts have been made to arrange the work for orchestra, most successfully by the Catalan conductor Antoni Ros-Marba.
Despite its history,this orchestral suite is far from being a mere mish-mash of Chopin melodies; it is more of a meditation on Chopin's work in general, with the focus on the harmonic and textural elements which De Falla drew from his work.It forms a fascinating insight into the mind of a great musician.

Composed by Eugène Bozza in 1947, Short Suite in Trio Form, Op. 67 is a piece for oboe, clarinet and bassoon. This edition features the parts for the three instruments and a full score. This four-movement work is quite difficult and would be perfect for advanced players. A great piece for recitals, it is also really interesting to play for each of the three instruments. The four movements are Allegro moderato, which starts with the oboe, Allegro vivo, Adagio espressivo and Allegro vivo, and the piece lasts approximatively 10 minutes. Eugène Bozza won different prizes at the Conservatoire de Paris such as the First Prizes for the Violin, conducting and composition, as well as the Grand Prix de Rome. He composed several operas, chamber works and ballets among others.

Daniel Schnyder wrote the Carmen Suite as an opera paraphrase for a dance performance featuring the flamenco dancer Nina Corti and the Carmina Quartet. Later, I adapted the work for piano trio. The first performance of the opera Sophie's Choice was given at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London on December 7, 2002, conducted by Sir Simon Rattle and directed by Trevor Nunn. The Concert Suite from Sophie's Choice was written for the Peabody Institute. The first performance was given by the Peabody Symphony Orchestra with mezzo-soprano Elizabeth Healy, conducted by Hajime Teri Murai, at the Peabody Institute, Baltimore on April 24, 2004. The suite is a direct transcription by the composer from the orchestral music of the opera. The mezzo-soprano aria may be omitted.

A new suite in 4 movements (including the famous 3 chord Fanfare) from Mozart's Magic Flute opera beautifully set for Trombone Quartet and Bass Trombone Solo or Bass Vocalist. The total work is about 10 minutes in length and is for moderately advanced players (good high school and up). The most famous of the movements is Sarastro's Aria which can be performed by a Bass Trombone (5th part) or Bass vocalist. The lyrics are in the original German and the movement is in the key of F (original). The Suite is of moderately advanced difficulty, in tenor and bass clefs. Endurance is not a problem. The highest note is a single high C in the 1st Trombone part. The other movements are delightful in beautiful choral style and will add depth to any recital or concert.
