The Missa Beatissimae Virginis Maria was composed ca. 1758-1760, between the end of his tenure as a singer in the choir of St. Stephen's in Vienna and the beginning of his first position as violinist and music director for the Bishop of Grosswardein. The scoring of SATB (for soli as well as choir) and church trio was augmented by two trumpets (clarini) and timpani, as well as two trombones. The latter instruments double the alto and tenor voices in tutti passages but in the Et incarnatus est they are also employed in an obbligato role. On the one hand, as an early work this Mass is in the style of the festive baroque tradition, as practiced in south-German regions until the middle of the eighteenth century; on the other hand it already shows the subjective inspiration which distinguished it from many of the mass settings by Haydn's contemporaries. Score and parts available separately - see item CA.5030500.

A creative combination of two texts appropriate for Christmas or Epiphany. Eugene Field was an American writer best known for his children's poetry. His poem Star of the East describes the events from the gospel of Matthew in which wise men from the East came to Jerusalem. The composer skillfully includes PUER NOBIS by Michael Praetorius. Children's choir or an ensemble of treble voices join the chorus to bring the piece to a close. A beautiful trumpet descant is included, often reinforcing the PUER NOBIS tune.

To mark the 150th anniversary of the founding of Trinity College, University of Melbourne, the College's former Director of Music Michael Leighton Jones has created a spellbindingly beautiful work of art. Using the Gregorian office hymn O lux beata Trinitas as the bones of his work, around which Leighton Jones has brilliantly set the words of British-Australian poet Katherine Firth. The work was first performed in its original version (solo sextet SSATBarB; SATB semi chorus, SATB chorus and organ) at the commemorative Evensong held in St Paul's Cathedral, Melbourne on 22 May, 2022.

This wonderful hymn for Eucharist was crafted with an eye toward the specific needs of the Communion processional. Both the tempo marking and strict rhythm move the piece along with stately grace, while the memorable refrain makes it possible to process and sing without the aid of a hymnal. The text consists almost entirely of images inviting contemplation of the mystery of the Holy Eucharist. While orchestral and choral elaboration is available, the composition can also be sung unison, with the assembly on the refrain and a cantor singing the verses.
